It's unlikely America will reach
herd immunity, experts warn

When will the United States reach herd immunity to COVID-19? Experts now say it might not — but that doesn't mean the virus has to remain a "society disrupter." That's according to a new report in The New York Times, which says there is now a "widespread consensus among scientists and public health experts" that in the U.S., the "herd immunity threshold is not attainable — at least not in the foreseeable future, and perhaps not ever." (Snip) These experts think that COVID-19 may continue circulating in the United States for years, the Times reports, but that vaccines can help turn it

Comments:

Now 'experts' say that COVID can be a manageable threat - like the flu. A few months ago saying such a thing got you banned from Farcebook.

Based on the last couple of years, in particular, can the NY Times be considered a reliable news source or reference? My guess, the democrats need to keep some sort of "urgency" about this virus going so they can maintain the previous emergency voting rules they installed for the 2022 election. Saw in the news last night that Hispanics are only getting vaccinated at around 35-40% in California, which is the largest demographic group in that State. Keep in mind, the virus of 1918 lasted about 2 years, and things went back to normal.

With all the experts, both actual (few( and self-proclaimed (innumerable) bestowing their polar differing opinions, only time will tell. If the “vaccine(s)” had never been devised, perhaps this virus would have run its course and allowed the development of “herd immunity”. We may as well argue about how many angels can stand on the head of a pin.

You can just imagine democrat glee at the prospect of longer lock downs, forced social distancing and face diaper wearing mandates. If they can stretch this through November 2022, they can demand 2020 style mail in ballots and steal more elections.

From what this amateur understands of the nature of this medical injectable, it is not a vaccine. The likelihood that it will prevent infection is slim. It seems to me that it could lessen the severity of an “attack” by the Covid virus.

Evidence is coming out that this is a fecal aerosol spread (not to be confused with a common flatulation). Wonder why the Chinese were/are doing annul swabs? Masking useless. 80% of the population will be little effected and it would be better to have the old fashioned chicken pox parties to get this over with if we want herd immunity. My prediction: The next mutation that China will turn loose on the world will kill off at least 20% of the people that have taken the vaccination. And guess who will get the blame?

Time to grow up. Set a vax schedule for all comers. July 1, remove all restrictions. Those who have refused vaccinations might get sick, might die. Why do I have to wear a diaper for their fears? Those who are too hampered to survive shots need to stay sheltered…as they will have to under all realistic future scenarios.

Demon-Rats need to keep this a high priority through the mid-term elections. After that, it will have used up it's political capital and can then disappear (thanks to the "great leadership of President Biden" of course). In Texas and Florida, we have already proven that this is a joke and people need to get back to living their lives. Actually, the BLM and Antifa rioters last year proved it was a joke, since they didn't wear masks or practice distancing as they looted, rioted, and burned all those Demon-Rat run cities -- without any major outbreaks of Covid!!!

Faucci the Moron ridicules herd immunity. It is a wonder he is allowed to walk alone. The effort the eradicate small pox counted on herd immunity. The entire population of the planet wasn't vaccinated. Rather, a geographically calculated effort to create herd immunity by immunizing pockets of people stopped the virus in its tracks. Small pox is now relegated to high level laboratories and exists nowhere in the wild. But, Faucci denies that with his derision and arrogance.

Traditionally, herd immunity was always defined as when 1/2 of the population had already had a disease OR was immunized against that disease. Leftist would-be despots tried to keep control by moving that goalpost. The covid immunity might be reached after 60%, then 70%, now 80% of the population has either had it or been vaccinated against it. Meanwhile Florida is over covid. And Utah is almost over it as I just went shopping and no one wore masks!
