Power back to the people

"Power to the People" was a chant used by anti-war and civil rights protesters in the '60s. John Lennon wrote a song with that title in 1971. The idea flowed from the Preamble to the U.S. Constitution which begins, "We the people." The concept behind that phrase was that the people, not the government, are sovereign and the government's power is granted to it by the governed. That has been reversed in our day as government has become evermore powerful, some would argue dictatorial, as demonstrated by restrictions on our liberties with the COVID-19 virus used as the excuse.

FTA: “According to conventionofstates.com, which tracks the progress of resolutions, 15 states have approved calling for a convention of the states to reign in what they believe is out-of-control government. The support of 34 states is needed. Thirty-eight states are required to ratify any proposed amendments. The website says seven states have approved a resolution in one of their legislative chambers and 22 state legislatures will consider doing so this year. “The Founders saw state conventions as the ultimate safeguard against government overreach and a necessary workaround should Congress exceed its constitutional authority, which supporters of state conventions believe it has. (Snip) “If what we are seeing in Washington does not define out-of-control government, what does? “Attorney and media commentator Mark Levin, who helped launch the current campaign for a convention of states, responded to my request for a comment: "When the framers wrote Article V of the Constitution), it was precisely for a time like this. Our republic and liberty are at stake, threatened by a mob, political demagogues, and a corrupt media. In the end, it's the only tool that can save our constitution." “Increasingly it appears he is right.” Abraham Lincoln: “We the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution but to overthrow the men who pervert the Constitution.”

“You’re ranting again.” — Dr. Anthony Fauci “I’m not ranting.” — U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan “Yes, you are.” — Fauci Of course Jim Jordan was ranting. That’s what the Republican congressman from Urbana does. His exertions at a hearing Thursday of the U.S. House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis even earned him a gaveling from the Democratic chairman of the committee when he exceeded his time limit and an admonition from another Democratic member “to respect the chair and shut your mouth.” Still, he persisted and eventually got Fauci to provide useful parameters for assessing whether and when measures intended to limit

Brearley is a private all-girls school on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York City. However, one family has had enough of the indoctrination machine and penned an eloquent letter explaining their reason for removing their daughter.(Snip). In short, we no longer believe that Brearley’s administration and Board of Trustees have any of our children’s best interests at heart.(Snip) It cannot be stated strongly enough that Brearley’s obsession with race must stop.

The former director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Dr. Robert Redfield, believes the SARS-CoV-2 virus originated in the Wuhan Institute of Virology. If Dr. Redfield is correct--and he almost certainly is--then Dr. Anthony Fauci of the National Institutes of Health must assume significant responsibility for a global pandemic that has killed over half-a-million Americans, kicked tens of millions of Americans to the unemployment curb and drained trillions of dollars of wealth from the American economy.(Snip)In 2017, without sufficient warning to the Trump White House, Dr, Fauci and his NIH colleague Dr. Francis Collins re-authorized

Marjorie Taylor Greene today offered bills to ban COVID-19 vaccination mandates such as those called for in vaccine “passport” proposals and to fire Dr. Anthony Fauci.(Snip)In the Republican lawmaker's “We Will Not Comply” proposal, Greene would bar federal funding to any business or school that requires a vaccination or a mask. On a recent walk, I came across a neighborhood littered with the yard sign in this photo. It seems the provocative platitudes we’ve seen on bumper stickers for a century have now taken root in our yards. And for the same reason: To tell the world that the sign-planter holds wonderful beliefs that he’s willing to impose upon and attribute to the rest of his family. It’s surely not because the sign-planter thinks he’s persuading anyone of the rightness of his position, as if the neighbors reading the sign will say to themselves, “Gee, ‘Democracy dies in darkness’ is a great point. I’d never thought of it that way.”

CNN’s Chris Cuomo railed against the Census Bureau on his show Monday with his guest Michael Smerconish and intimated that the agency is actively helping Republicans increase their numbers in Congress. As mandated in the Constitution, the Census Bureau is tasked with tracking the nation’s population growth by state. It then appropriates the number of seats each state gets in the House of Representatives and that is directly connected to the Electoral College calculation. They stick to the numbers since they are part of the U.S. Federal Statistical System.Cuomo seems to believe there is something nefarious going on rather than straight-up demographics.
