Virginia To Eliminate All Accelerated Maths Classes Prior To 11th Grade. Because ‘Equity’

Last week, Katya wrote an outstanding essay about the perils of woke math. This week, Virginia’s Department of Education announced that it will be eliminating accelerated maths classes in all public schools as they strive for “equity.” The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) is moving to eliminate all accelerated math options prior to 11th grade, effectively keeping higher-achieving students from advancing as they usually would in the school system.

Just making everyone dumb now.

Then they should eliminate all sports teams (basketball, football, etc.) for students before the 11th grade, and assign positions on the remaining teams by random drawing from among all the students..... for the SAME reason!

Math is one of the the only things in this day and age that will help students get decent jobs, mostly in tech. So these students, white and black who can hack it, are being denied their best opportunities. Keep the accelerated classes and just give D's to those who actually fail.

One way to make low preforming students look better. Make the best students unable to be the best by denying them the opportunity to do so. One unintended consequence: will students from Virginia public schools now begin to stop getting admitted to good to elite colleges due to poor math skills?

My wife teaches piano. Perhaps she should give students only five-finger exercises until they are 16, to let those who refuse to practice keep up with the others. Then they could start those who wanted playing sonatinas, and a year later Liszt and Chopin etudes. That would surely produce "equity."

This has been going on since the '60's in the south. My mom wanted my brother to be held back a year because he was having a very difficult time in 2nd grade. The teacher told her they couldn't hold him back. Everyone has to pass and move to the next grade. Yep, stupid kids made it to college where some universities had to hold remedial classes before these kids could even begin taking college courses.

We must stand up to the Democrat Party lies and their allies in the media. If you listen to them, you’ve probably heard that the 2020 election cycle was a stinging backlash against President Trump and his America First agenda. But this tired, half-baked theory couldn’t be further from reality. In fact, New Jersey voters cast nearly 350,000 more ballots for President Trump in 2020 than they did in 2016 – even with the dubious mail-in voting practices put in place at the 11th hour by Democrat Governor Phil Murphy.

The House Ethics committee released a statement, saying Clyburn had been fined and that he has appealed the fine. Clyburn denied breaking House rules to CNN, saying: “I have no idea,” adding: “It’s just somebody on the other side trying to cause mischief.” For a first-time offense, the fine is $5,000, a second-time offense is $10,000.
