A labor leader said he is "amazed at how much money" union workers are spending on new cars and remodeling their homes after President Joe Biden’s $86 billion bailout for failing union-managed multi-employer pensions. The bailout funds for the pensions was part of the $1.9 trillion coronavirus stimulus bill Biden signed on March 11. Labor Secretary Marty Walsh, leaders in the labor movement, and some Ohio Democratic lawmakers held a virtual event to celebrate the bill's support for the struggling pensions.

Comments:

How many Trump supporters are remodeling their homes and buying new cars? Oh, I'm sorry. We didn't get a cut of that money.

The UNION did not live up to their end of the bargain in funding the pensions properly (per members bargaining agreement). Members still paid their union dues and pension contributions. Don't unions usually strike over things like this or call the Government NLRLB for not meeting their contract obligations. Why is the union being let off the hook and made to look like a hero to some fawning union members? The government had no business bailing out the union pension funds. It was the union's responsibility to properly fund the pensions. If they could not properly fund the pensions, they should not have promised something they could not deliver. The union members need to take a good look at where their money went and should question if being in the union is really worth it.

Unions benefit bottom feeders and hurt everybody else. Ever notice that the union rep in your company is the worst worker in the workforce? This money was not mishandled it was stolen by union leadership, it's a democrat thing. Ever notice how union leaders act and dress like Mafia thugs? It's not an act.

Russian President Vladimir Putin took advantage of the Biden administration’s decision to abandon plans to send two destroyers to the Black Sea by closing off the Kerch Strait, connecting Crimea to Russia, to foreign warships until next fall. The action comes as Russia warned the US on Tuesday to stay away from the area “for their own good” after the Biden administration said it was going to send two destroyers — the USS Roosevelt and the USS Donald Cook — to the Black Sea in response to Moscow’s increasing military presence near Ukraine.

The Biden administration declared a national emergency on Thursday, slapping sanctions on more than three dozen people in Russia and expelling 10 diplomats, in an about-face after the US reversed course of two warships heading to the Black Sea. President Biden signed an executive order detailing Russia’s actions in the SolarWinds cyber-intrusion and its interference in the election, accusing the Kremlin of working to “undermine the conduct of free and fair democratic elections and democratic institutions in the United States and its allies and partners,” according to a statement from the White House.

On Friday, Japanese Prime Minister Joshihide Suga became the first world leader to visit the Biden White House. These visits help set the tone for an administration. That being the case, the new administration’s tone is inept and rude. Biden was also absent for the first part of it, leaving an awkward Kamala Harris to trash the U.S. for gun violence before turning to welcome Suga. When Biden took over, things went downhill. (snip) Normally, when a foreign head of state arrives, the President gives him or her a formal greeting. This time, however, the President was nowhere to be found.

Japanese Prime Minister Joshihide Suga was the first world leader to visit the White House since Biden’s installation, and the poor form began with no-one greeting the head of the Japanese government upon arrival. There was a prolonged ammunition shortage during the Obama administration. I got through that one because a Power Line reader lined me up with a dealer in West Virginia who seemed to have an endless supply of 9 mm. and .22LR rounds. Over the last year, another ammo shortage has struck, caused in part by an influx of new gun buyers who are responding to rising crime rates, attacks on law enforcement, and the election of Joe Biden. As with most shortages, it has been accentuated by hoarding: whenever a shooter saw boxes of a popular caliber on the shelves, he would buy them all. For quite a while
