Brooklyn Center City Manager Curt Boganey was fired on Monday evening, hours after he publicly disagreed with Mayor Mike Elliott’s assertion that the police officer who fatally shot a Black man in the Minneapolis suburb should be immediately fired in response to the incident. "Effective immediately our city manager has been relieved of his duties, and the deputy city manager will be assuming his duties moving forward," Elliott wrote on Twitter. "I will continue to work my hardest to ensure good leadership at all levels of our city government." Daunte Wright, 20, was fatally shot during a traffic stop. Bodycam footage showed three officers gathered near a stopped car

This might lead to nationwide police tactical kit and training revisions; and, probably result in the city paying a large financial settlement.

No due process for her. Just chain drag her through the streets behind a pickup truck then lunch her from a tree in the civic center. Then after she’s dead burn her body to the gods of racism as a sin offering and a sweet aroma to BLM.

Funny how the mayor claims to be ensuring good leadership by demonstrating such poor leadership. The knee-jerk reaction of firing the City Manager for daring to call for due process for the police officer. God forbid anyone actually wait until the entire incident is fully investigated and all of the facts are known. The Mayor is an idiot and his action and comments are not helping the situation.

Tasers feel quite a bit different than a handgun, but do follow the same general form factor. The most obvious feel difference is the much lower weight. 7 oz for a loaded Tazer, 30 or more ounces for a loaded handgun. A Taser should be made more like a flashlight shape with NO grip, so it feels and points nothing at all like a pistol. Or dump the whole concept, since they really are ineffective a LOT of the time, and go back to billy clubs....OH, wait, most woman can't use a billy club effectively due to their limited strength, dramatically lower ability to fight compared to a man. And don't imagine those silly TV shows where the 120 lb or less woman whips up on the 230 lb guy "because she is a trained expert". That's 98% BS. My wife has told me for years, "since women cops cannot win a fight with a large bad guy, they will have to go to the handgun a whole lot earlier and more often than a big guy would find necessary." Yep --- that. My wife is a very accomplished woman, a pilot, architect-engineer, and has driven high performance cars on race tracks, great cook, all that stuff.....but she does know the limitations of the strength of most women. Maybe this should be the beginning of the end of female cops. But THAT won't happen.

Boganey seemed to be a rational man, in control of his emotions. His calmness is what should be admired in tough situations. But no, in the heat of the moment a hotter head prevailed and a weak council acted emotionally and out of personal fear.

#5 Totally agree with your last point. And would add fire'men' to the list. And soldier too. On the live cop shows the ladies always stand back and let the big guys knock on the door or kick the door in and go in first. But if there were no women cops, how could the female druggies ever get patted down? So I guess they serve a purpose.

#9, my wife puts firefighters in the same category. When we were discussing this last night, she said that if women could pass the same physical tests for firefighters that a man was required to pass in the 1950s, which she said "probably includes dragging an unconscious 230 lb man up a flight of stairs, like from a basement", then she should be permitted to be a firefighter. But we agree that we are certain that the physical tests have been changed to a lower standard to accommodate women because the original physical test is a barrier to small men and almost all women. And victims in fires are now less likely to be saved by a woman firefighter.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) sent a letter last week to Vice President Kamala Harris, demanding the Biden Administration close the Health and Human Services Emergency Intake Site (EIS) for unaccompanied migrant children located at the Freeman Expo Center in San Antonio. In new developments, law enforcement sources say authorities are now looking at conditions at another facility in the Rio Grande Valley. A law enforcement source within CBP, speaking on a condition of anonymity, says Texas Rangers visited the Donna facility in recent days to investigate conditions. Rangers conduct major violent crime, public corruption, cold case, and officer-involved shooting investigations. They also oversee

Formally introducing his cabinet to the public, Joe Biden proudly declared: “This is the first [time] in American history that the cabinet looks like America.” Looking at the actual appointments and not just the gender, skin color, and ethnic origins of the Biden team, it is a team that may look like America but doesn’t think like America. In fact, it is a team whose outlook is anti-American. Take Biden’s vice-presidential choice, Kamala Harris, whose antipathy for America oozes from her every pore. At a February 2019 presidential campaign stop, for example, she said Columbus Day should be replaced with “Indigenous People’s Day”

Right off the bat, you should have got the hint to grab a barf bucket for the spiel about "taking action to create meaningful change." The announcement included a video and narrative to explain the new addition to the longstanding tradition of The Four Keys: Inclusion.

Texas is turning blue. We know because that’s what we’re told. Despite Donald Trump winning the state in 2020 and the 10 Democratic targeted House races all ending up in Republican hands, the state is getting bluer all the time. We know because… well, if the media tells us Republicans are sinking and Texas is where the “evidence” will appear next, naturally, the race to succeed Rep. Ron Wright, who died of COVID-19 in February, will be the “canary in the coal mine” according to Politico. If the special election in Texas is any indication for 2022, the GOP’s ongoing identity crisis will leave it with a real mixed-bag of candidates

In an unusual move, five of the party’s biggest polling firms have spent the past few months working together to explore what went wrong last year and how it can be fixed. It’s part of an effort to understand why — despite data showing Joe Biden well ahead of former President Donald Trump, and Democrats poised to increase

However, the withdrawal would be based on certain security and human rights guarantees, the sources said, speaking on condition of anonymity ahead of the formalization of the decision. The sources did not provide further details. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin are expected to brief the decision to NATO allies in Brussels on Wednesday.
