At about 8:30 a.m. EST on Tuesday a suspect, identified as a Navy hospital corpsman assigned to Fort Detrick Army Garrison in Maryland, shot and injured two people at a local business before he drove onto the base and was shot and killed by military personnel. Frederick Police Chief Jason Lando identified the suspect as Fantahun Girma Woldesenbet, 38, who was an active-duty U.S. Navy E4 (Petty Officer Third Class). Lando said Woldesenbet used a rifle during the shooting, but he did not identify the type of rifle or caliber used.

CBS News drew some sharp reactions Friday over a so-called "report" that critics declared seemed more like full-throated Democratic activism. In a piece titled, "3 ways companies can help fight Georgia's restrictive new voting law," CBS Money Watch reporter Khristopher J. Brooks appeared to offer advice on how corporations can put political pressure on Georgia Republicans, who just passed and signed election reform into law.

President Biden announced on Monday that the "vast majority" of Americans will be eligible to get their first COVID-19 vaccination shot by April 19. For the vast, vast, majority of adults, you won’t have to wait until May 1," the president emphasized. [snip] Biden noted that "cases [are] rising again, new variants are spreading, and sadly, some of the reckless behavior we've seen on television over the past few weeks means that more new cases are to come in the weeks ahead."

The suspect in the Colorado supermarket shootings bought a firearm at a local gun store after passing a background check, and he also had a second weapon with him that he didn’t use in the attack that killed 10 people this week, authorities and the gun store owner said Friday. [snip] John Mark Eagleton, owner of Eagles Nest Armory in the Denver suburb of Arvada, said in a statement that his store was cooperating with authorities as they investigate. The suspect passed a background check conducted by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation before purchasing a gun, Eagleton said.

Back in January, the Washington Post reported that Trump told an official working in Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger’s office to “find the fraud” in the state, telling them that they would be a national hero if she did. The call took place on December 23rd, and was just released, proving that Trump never said that. [snip] The recording was discovered in a then-unnamed official’s computer trash bin after they said they didn’t think a recording existed. Without their gross incompetence in what appears to be them trying to cover their tracks, this bogus reporting would’ve never been exposed.

STUTTGART, Germany — U.S. special operations troops have launched a mission to assist counterterrorism forces in Mozambique, where there are growing concerns about escalating violence by Islamic State militants. The two-month effort will focus on training Mozambican marines as the country tries to “prevent the spread of terrorism and violent extremism,” the U.S. embassy in Maputo said Monday in a statement. The U.S. has also provided medical and communications equipment.

Shocker: the media lied to the American public once again.
We learned recently that the Washington Post, after claiming to have verified a story from anonymous sources, did no such thing for one particular “bombshell” story. (snip) The recording was discovered in this unnamed official’s computer trash bin after they said they didn’t think a recording existed. Without their gross incompetence in what appears to be them trying to cover her tracks, this bogus reporting would’ve never been exposed.

Democrat Congressman San Nicolas, of Guam, marched National Guard troops from his home territory through the halls of Congress, leading them straight to the office door of an opposing party congressperson. Rep. Nicolas stopped his 20 or so troops to office door of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene. As majestic music plays, since this was all done with pride on the part of Rep. Nicolas, he stands in the hallway outside Rep. Greene's office with a gift basket, flanked by troops in camo fatigues.

The White House is bracing for a worsening situation at the U.S.-Mexico border as President Biden faces criticism from both political parties over the influx of migrant children. [snip] The White House also picked first lady Jill Biden to be the public face of its family reunification task force. Using the first lady allows the White House to provide political cover to other officials who likely have future political aspirations that could be harmed by delving into such a tricky issue as immigration, chiefly Vice President Kamala Harris. She could well be the Democratic Party's 2024 presidential nominee, should Biden opt against another run.

President Donald Trump has confirmed reports he requested 10,000 National Guard troops ahead of the January 6th rally in Washington, D.C., only to be rebuffed by authorities. Speaking Steve Hilton on “The Revolution,” the former president outlined how he knew in advance of the crowd size: [snip] In response, Trump said he “gave the number” to the Department of Defense, insisting that 10,000 members of the National Guard would be needed.
