Red Wing Chief of Police Roger Pohlman's employment was terminated by the Red Wing City Council Friday night. According to the letter of termination sent to Chief Pohlman, he was terminated for having "not met the Council's performance expectations." The letter then goes on to list a number of incidences where Pohlman did not meet expectations. (snip) A citizen-led rebuke of the suspension and subsequent termination of Pohlman claimed that the actions taken were under the "guise of 'social justice'," and that the city council's decision was "unfounded, outrageous and politically motivated."

The swamp isn't just in DC. Citizens have a duty to remind local city council members about who works for whom. This community is already on it, pushing back against the abuse of power. Citizens owe it to themselves to stand up to the currently emboldened left wing. We are all entitled to our opinions, we don't have to agree. The last thing the folks who presume to know everything want, is a new crop of serious candidates willing to challenge their misused authority.

Like many firings, it probably has nothing at all to do with the stated reason. I'm sure there is much more here than meets the eye.

The council did the chief of police a favor. Now, the chief can find employment where he will be respected and performance will be evaluated using a rational metric.

The owners of a Minneapolis restaurant that was destroyed in the riots after George Floyd's death filed a lawsuit against the city and Mayor Jacob Frey. In the lawsuit, filed in Hennepin County District Court on Monday, Kacey White and Charles Stotts, owners of Town Talk Diner & Gastropub, say the delay in response to the riots by the city and Frey allowed for more destruction and cost them their restaurant. "Mayor Frey and the City's failure to control the significant (yet manageable) number of malefactors on Lake Street resulted in his failure to protect Town Talk," the lawsuit states, in part.

Many Americans will remember President Donald Trump’s presidency as a four-yearlong storm of tweets, rallies and on-air rants that ended in a mob riot and historic second impeachment. But there was more to the Trump presidency than attention-hogging political drama and conflict; often unnoticed, Trump and his administration actually did succeed in changing some of the ways Washington works. From imposing a ban on Chinese-made drones to rolling back rules on sexual harassment, from cracking down on robocalls to letting states legalize marijuana, Trump changed some key areas of federal policy in ways that may have lasting impact well after he’s gone.

I’m probably second to none in my dislike for Meghan Markle. There’s something unattractive about a mature woman marrying into the British Royal family with one of the world’s most expensive weddings, hanging out with the Queen, living in insane luxury…and then whining non-stop about the horror of her life. There’s something even less appealing when that woman accuses the Royal family of race hatred. And the problem is that, when it comes to that left-wing diva, Meghan Markle, it’s hard to believe most of what she says. After weeks of hype, CBS finally televised Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah.
