The reality of DC elites demanding walls to protect them from the common American is a stunning shift in outlook from when the U.S. Capitol used to be considered “the people’s house.” Alas the voices are now asking for exactly that…a permanent fence to keep the American people away from those who run government.(Snip)The move would be a striking shift from the accessibility many Americans have enjoyed over the years visiting the grounds of “The People’s House,” such as sitting on the lawn in front of the building, accessing the trails and green spaces around the building and field trips to the steps of the Capitol by schoolchildren.

I think it would be a better idea to put that fence around the entire border of the District itself and keep everyone out.

If they weren't so corrupt and criminal, silencing our voices, stealing our votes, and passing laws for us that they exempt themselves from, perhaps we wouldn't be such a danger to them. We can't have a fence on our border to protect us from criminal invaders, but somehow they need to have a fence to protect their precious lives.

I think they should be made to sleep on the Capitol floor and never be allowed to leave. As poster #3 says, turn it into their prison. They get to protect themselves behind walls, but we can't have a wall on our borders to protect US. They so need to be dragged.

Can't wait to see the Capitol of the "free" world surrounded by a fence.

That idea says more about those who run our country than it does about the people they govern! I think #2 is spot on. Fence in all of D.C.! It's a Cesspool anyway, so why would anyone want to visit that place? Congress has turned the place School Children were excited to visit into a place that looks like a scary prison complex. But! This too shall end when the Democrats are once again out of power! What they have done in their first few weeks shows us just how far they are going to go to put their thumb on the American Citizen's rights! Even those Suburban College Educated Women are going to hate them before the Dem's four years are over!

Don't stop with the fencing and razor wire put machine gun towers with permanent orders to 'shoot to kill'. Don't be foggy about what's happening just go all out with the intent. I just want to hear an announcement to the elites to not drift off their reservation into the unknown dangerous territory of 'red states'. Stay behind your fences and safe zones because we don't want you.

A new Berlin Wall.
Will it have towers with automatic weapons? A mined no-man's-land? Razor wire?

Put up the fence, and lay off 95% of the Capitol Police. They do not need 25,000 police, especially with a fence. Try locking the doors.

Well they could save some taxpayer’s money by hauling the unused panels from the suspended borderline barrier (Trump’s Wall) up to Washington, DC and emplacing them around the US Capitol complex including the Senate and Congressional office buildings to protect the wimpy UniParty Congress critters from visiting Americans.

They know they are going to RULE over the people...no more governance with the people's consent. The tyrants must protect themselves....theit authoritarian rule, especially once they lock out every Republican candidate from ever winning office again. The people will no longer be the ones to self-govern.
We MUST create a petition AND a class action lawsuit to reverse that sham of an election. 80 million people are more than enough to correct this fraudulent mess.
