An orthodox priest in western Ohio who has filled in at churches in the Cleveland area has been suspended and could be defrocked after he attended a rally for former President Trump in Washington on Jan. 6 that ended with an assault on the nation’s Capitol, according to reports. A notice on the website for the Orthodox Church in America says Archpriest Mark Hodges was suspended on Jan. 12. The notice offers no other details.

The Trump rally did not end with an assault on the Capitol. They were two different things, separated by time and distance. As has been explained by eyewitness, if one was at the Trump rally, there was no way you could get to the Capitol in time to "riot" and break things.

The Trump speech was at the Ellipse, directly behind the White House grounds. The Capitol is a 30 minute walk from there for someone in good shape. It definitely wasn't a "Trump Rally At The Capitol" and calling it such is not even misleading -- it is clearly untrue. It is clearly a lie designed to promote the larger "incitement" lie.

I'll be honest AS an Orthodox Christian. My first gut reaction was horror that he is being so persecuted. It does not surprise me however as most bishops, not all, are political animals first and men of the cloth second. There is a reason why the saints tell us the road to hell is paved with the skulls of bishops. I read more elsewhere and I understand better what happened. It represents the sad state of affairs MOST of us are in now. He is an employee after all. Had my husband gone to the rally and worn his name tag and identified himself with his company and had made a huge deal on social media prior to the the rally, he too would be out of a job. Had this priest not chosen to post so prolifically on social media, had be NOT gone to the rally in his collar (his uniform essentially), had he not made such a spectical of being a politically active priest, which is not allowed in his terms of employment, he probably would have been fine. That he was ratted out by a liberal crazy parishioner is horrible and that woman should seek help, spiritual and mental. And that she wants to remain anonymous for fear of "retribution" is laughable. Guilt and ostracizing is more like it. Interesting that the more Russian of our churches should utilize these KGB informant tactics. Disgusting cowards. Also, a small note. Learn from your enemies. There’s something unattractive about a mature woman marrying into the British Royal family with one of the world’s most expensive weddings, hanging out with the Queen, living in insane luxury…and then whining non-stop about the horror of her life. There’s something even less appealing when that woman accuses the Royal family of race hatred.
