The patriarch of the family that owns the Chicago Cubs is getting back in the newsgathering business. The Omaha World-Herald reported on Sunday that billionaire businessman and philanthropist Joe Ricketts is hiring staff to launch an online national news source called Straight Arrow News. “I think there’s a gap in the market — there’s no source for unbiased, fact-based news,” Ricketts told the World-Herald in an emailed response to questions last week. “And I believe there’s a business opportunity there.” It isn’t the politically conservative Ricketts’ first journalistic endeavor. He launched DNAinfo, a news website that provided local coverage in

Let's just get quietly past the inauguration of a corrupt demented unelected president and on to The Republic of Texas.
Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, S Dakota, N Dakota, Montana, Alberta (Canada), Saskatchewan (Canada), Manitoba (Canada), and a few states along the sides. Let's go EAST. Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida.
We have every warm water shipping port in The Gulf of Mexico and more oil than the Saudis ever dreamed of. California and New York can print their own money.
We WILL protect our borders ,north and south.
If you're coming to visit Texas bring your US passport with the pre-approved visitor's visa.

I've been saying for some time that the complete domination of the news by leftist sources has left open a giant business opportunity for someone to step in and present simply an objective news source. Good luck to this effort. I'll definitely be a customer.

This is EXACTLY what needs to happen. We cannot depend on a left-wing media monolith to tell our side of the story. We must: (1) support fair media outlets; (2) fight hard to fix the election laws; and (3) start using alternatives to Big Tech instead of lending them our patronage as they seek to destroy us.

I’ve been a life long White Sox fan and can’t change my allegiance. But I’m tempted.

poster #3, add Eastern Washington to your list. They've been trying to secede from the western part of the state for some time.

Need online, in print, on the air -- and those that make it will be just fine at first, until the 'rats infiltrate and destroy, because they will and they do. So more is needed than to start up and run it/them

Totally unbiased news would be great but an impossibility. At some point you need to provide perspective and that's where a bias shows. The so-called AI applications are actually expert systems reflecting the bias of their authors and hardly thinking for themselves.

Uh oh. The left will come after him immediately for using the homophobic word “straight” and the violent word “arrow”.

If you've got to call yourself "Straight Arrow" you probably aren't. Why not let the product speak for itself? How much "news service" content will it include?

As a J-school graduate decades ago, we were taught that personal perspective has no business in a news story. If you think it is impossible, try to identify the bias on the sports page articles (not opinion columns) after the Super Bowl. The same is true for crime stories, the city beat, obituaries of famous people, and nightly local weather reports, which almost never try to push "climate change" into the story. Only when the reporters cover political issues and personalities do they seem to think the reader cares about their subjective analysis. I would be able to cover the White House year in and out without anyone being able to guess my political affiliation. The faculty adviser to my college daily of which I was a senior editor would be proud to say that this is just the way we were taught.

It's extremely easy to report what happened. Where our problem arises is when the journalists think they are smarter than the rest of us and feel the need to explain WHY it happened. Among those journalists are those who think they are smarter than all other journalists and this is where the leftist drivel comes in.
