Airbnb will cancel and block all reservations in the Washington metro area during inauguration week after finding Airbnb accounts for “numerous individuals who are either associated with known hate groups or otherwise involved in the criminal activity at the Capitol Building,” the platform announced Wednesday morning. The announcement cited Tuesday reports “regarding armed militias and known hate groups that are attempting to travel and disrupt the Inauguration” and warnings by the region’s leaders that visitors should refrain from traveling to the District over the next week. The company said it will refund guests and reimburse hosts for canceled bookings. Airbnb

Comments:

All these tech-based companies are going off the deep end. However, not much impact - nobody was going to D.C. to see Biden anyways.

I think #2, they see where/what “red” state they might be from, search a name or reservation group on google or Fb. It is not hard. They are looking for evil and they imagine they find it. We are seeing which companies and which Republicans will pledge allegiance to the new Woketopia.

All these cancellations for a virtual inaugaration. Trump should throw a big rally at the same time as the inauguration to 1) keep His supporters away from DC and 2) to rub their faces in the fact that he’ll have more people show up at his rally than Harris has people watching her, we, his inauguration, Sadly, the American experiment and Dream will have died on 1/20/2021.

Black activists are coming out strongly against a growing narrative among conservatives that equates the deadly siege on the U.S. Capitol with last summer's Black Lives Matter protests of racial injustice. Republican lawmakers defending President Donald Trump made the comparison again Wednesday while building their case against impeachment and accused Democrats of being hypocrites with selective outrage. Their comments mark the latest effort by Trump and the GOP to misrepresent the Black Lives Matter movement as an extremist, violent faction tied to anarchists. “You can moan and groan, but he was far more explicit about his calls for peace than some of

SAN FRANCISCO — A California coalition is proposing legislation to boost taxes on wealthy multinational corporations to raise more than $2 billion a year to house tens of thousands of homeless people, addressing what has become a worsening problem in the country's most populous state. Supporters say Assembly Bill 71 would reinvent California's approach to solving homelessness — providing for the first time an ongoing, sufficient state funding source to get people off the streets. Opponents say it would contribute to the perception that California is hostile to business. “Our state is facing an unprecedented homelessness crisis that's on the

Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour has spoken out about the magazine's controversial February cover, which features Vice President-elect Kamala Harris in a photo that drew backlash from critics on social media. The iconic fashion magazine and Wintour herself came under fire when the cover was leaked online late Saturday. Many were quick to call out the lighting and casual styling of the cover photo that shows the former California senator in a black suit jacket, skinny pants and Chuck Taylor sneakers. Many felt Harris, the first Black and South Asian woman to be elected vice president, appeared "washed out." One person

A new peer-reviewed study has found that the spread of COVID-19 in surveyed elementary schools is "extremely limited," potentially lending hope to advocates who are pushing to reopen schools that have been shuttered in some cases for roughly a year. The study, published in the medical journal Pediatrics by the American Academy of Pediatrics, followed "11 participating school districts" with "more than 90,000 students and staff" present for in-person instruction. "Across the 11 school districts," the researchers write, "773 community-acquired SARS-CoV-2 infections were documented by molecular testing; however, there were only 32 adjudicated cases of secondary transmission across the 11

With the coronavirus spreading rapidly and pushing hospitals to a crisis point, Los Angeles County officials are recommending further safety measures — going so far as to urge some residents to wear masks inside their homes. The concern, L.A. County's top health official says, is the danger posed to vulnerable residents when those they live with work outside the home or go out to shop or perform other essential tasks. Barbara Ferrer, the county's public health director, on Monday pleaded with the public to stay at home as much as possible. When leaving home to access essential services, she said, people

Parents whose 25-year-old daughter died from Covid-19 after her family contracted it days before they were due to be vaccinated have issued a dire warning over the 'very real threat' of the virus. Lauren Jones, from Llwynypia in the Rhondda, had complex regional pain syndrome in her foot which meant she walked with crutches, but this would not have made her more susceptible to becoming very ill with coronavirus. However, she did have high blood pressure and patients with the condition face twice the risk of dying from the disease, according to a study of 2,900 patients in China.

The tensions have surfaced as Biden's advisers plan a dramatic scale-up of vaccinations starting Jan. 20, when the incoming team inherits a troubled

Across New York State, medical providers in recent weeks had the same story: They had been forced to throw out precious vaccine doses because of difficulties finding patients who matched precisely with the state’s strict vaccination guidelines — and the steep penalties they would face had they made a mistake. On Saturday, state health officials responded to the outcry over discarded vaccines by again abruptly loosening guidelines as coronavirus cases continued to rise. Now, medical providers can administer the vaccine to any of their employees who interact with the public if there are extra doses in a vial and no

The person entered the St. Johns Village on Dec. 19 and broke out windows in 15 of the shelter’s 19 newly purchased tiny homes, causing about $8,000 damage, said Officer Melissa Newhard, a Portland Police Bureau spokeswoman. The single-occupancy pods, which are each 8-by-12 feet and feature electricity, heat systems and a built-in bed, had been placed at the North Richmond Avenue site only two days before

It’s been ongoing for awhile, but got really bad and obvious around the election and after. While Fox still ended the year leading the other networks for this past year, the trouble spots were obvious and their ratings took a hammering last week where they finished third behind MSNBC and CNN, the first time that’s happened in 20 years, since the Clinton administration. A strong majority of GOP voters view themselves as Republicans rather than devotees of President Trump's Make America Great Again, or "MAGA," movement, according to a new Just the News Daily Poll with Scott Rasmussen. Among the Republican voters, 74% consider themselves "more of a Republican," while 19% see themselves as "part of MAGA nation." The numbers could reflect the fallout from last week's Capitol riot, which has been broadly characterized as being led by Trump's MAGA devotees, a key part of the president's base, helped him become president in 2016. However, there is no similar, previous polls to compared percentages.

Ocasio-Cortez's remarks comes as other Democrats have sounded off on the possibility that some GOP members of the Congress abetted the rioters as they stormed the building.
