For only the second time since 1902, the traditional Rose Bowl football contest will not be played at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. The only exception was in 1942 after the attacks on Pearl Harbor. The game was played in Durham, North Carolina because the West Coast was deemed unsafe. The game that year was between Oregon State and Duke. Thanks to the coronavirus pandemic and the strict statewide shutdown orders from the Governor of California, the College Football Playoff (CFP) game will not be played in Pasadena. It will be played in Arlington, Texas at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys. Welcome to Texas, y’all.

The House handily passed a $900 billion COVID relief bill Monday night, delivering aid to the businesses and families that have struggled through months of stalled negotiations.
The 5,593-page bill passed just hours after being publicly released and will now move to the Senate before arriving on the desk of President Trump, who is expected to sign it. The legislation passed 359-53 as part of a broader $1.4 trillion spending package that included dozens of unrelated provisions, pushed off to the end of the legislative session thanks to protracted gridlock over the scope and scale of the relief bill.

Studios have been trying to pass copyright legislation to curb piracy for almost a decade since the failed 2012 Stop Online Piracy Act. The coronavirus relief bill released Monday includes $250 million in investment aid for the Palestinians and for encouraging Israeli-Palestinian dialogue in a provision titled the “Nita M. Lowey Middle East Partnership for Peace Act of 2020.”
The provision, named for retiring Rep. Nita Lowey (D-NY), is buried deep within the nearly 6,000-page legislative text.
Citing economic stagnation in the Palestinian Territories, and the potential for economic development to encourage peace, the Lowey Act would spend $50 million per year for the next five years. A version of the act passed the House in July.

The former head of cybersecurity at the Department of Homeland Security accepted the blame for the hack that infiltrated the computer systems of a number of federal agencies, including the Pentagon, and scores of companies in the private sector. In a Sunday interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Chris Krebs, the former director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, was asked by host Jake Tapper who was at fault for the breach. “So, the way I look at it is, yes, it happened on my watch at CISA. And we missed it. A bunch of other folks missed it,” he responded.
Incoming president Joe Biden received his first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech coronavirus vaccine on live television on Monday.
“There’s nothing to worry about,” Biden said after receiving the injection, joining various U.S. government officials who have been inoculated. At 78, Biden is in the age group at greatest risk for complications from coronavirus.
“I think that the administration deserves some credit for getting this off the ground with Operation Warp Speed,” Biden said, referring to the Trump administration’s vaccine development program.
Trump has not received a vaccine but was himself hospitalized with coronavirus in October. Vice President Mike Pence, 61, received the vaccine on Friday.
Congressional leaders on Sunday announced they had finally reached a deal to provide a second round of coronavirus-relief stimulus.
With a vote expected Monday, the $900 billion package will include a direct $600 payment to most Americans and a $300-per-week bonus to unemployment insurance for eleven weeks.

British Airways has said it will require passengers traveling from the UK to New York City to test negative for COVID-19 before they fly after being asked by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo to take action. The airline agreed on Monday as 40 countries around the world banned travel from the UK over a new strain of COVID-19 that has been detected there. The campaign aims to reverse three Pennsylvania Supreme Court cases that changed the state's mail balloting law immediately before and after this year's election.

Operation Warp Speed was well named. The typically tortoise-paced government and pharmaceutical bureaucracies moved with hare-like speed bringing several vaccines to market and available to millions. Hopefully this will soon return America to normal, although don’t hold your breath on that.

There is much anticipation that the alternate slate of (GOP) electors sent to Congress will cause a stalemate, causing the electors not to be confirmed. It is understood that any senator, and Mike Pence himself, can raise an objection to the confirmation of the Electoral College votes.
This would prompt a trigger that would abandon the Electoral College process and send the decision for president to the House of Representatives, and subsequently the choice of vice president back to the Senate.
