The four progressive congresswomen known as "The Squad" have been some of the most vocal advocates pushing President-elect Joe Biden to cancel student loan debt during his first 100 days in office — and would be among dozens of members of Congress to financially benefit from such a policy. Fifty-nine members of Congress reported owing student loans in their latest financial disclosures published last year, including Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., and Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich. Collectively, the 59 lawmakers with student loan debt owe at least $2.4 million. Both Ocasio-Cortez and Omar reported owing between $15,001 and $50,000 in

NO NO NO I am NOT your personal piggy bank. If I have to sell my assets, hide the cash and live on welfare - I am NOT going to continue to work to pay off other financially capable (if unwilling) peoples' debts. I will BECOME other peoples' debt. I will learn to work the 'system' as well as they do.

If student debt is cancelled, then moving forward there's no need for the government to give loans in the first. Let the colleges/universities use their huge endowments to underwrite their own expenses. Bet those institutions would be more selective in who goes to their school, and that there would be far fewer "social justice" and "women studies" degrees.

A slap in the face to all of us who worked to pay our own tuition or paid off our student debt on our own.

The IRS has to sign off on this. Forgiven loans are considered income and taxes will be owed.

If anyone gets their student loans cancelled it should be all the different ranks of nurses who are involved in the COVID testing and caring for COVID patients, as they put their lives on the line every time they work their shifts, and no matter them following all the protection guidelines, they are at the most at risk for being infected with the very contagious COVID virus. many of them are single parents, and very few are elite earners like Congress Critters.

"The Squad" will never be responsible for their own student debt. Someone else will pay it for them, even if Biden doesn't write it off. These people are never responsible for their own actions. Someone else always pays.

Just hand out government approved printers and let everyone with a student loan print up whatever they need. Of course, when a Big Mac costs $150 and gasoline costs $50 per gallon and a loaf of bread is $75 that might be a bit of a problem. But, hey. It's just paper.

PAY YOUR DEBT!
If this fiasco comes to pass, every business should make every effort to weed out these deadbeats and refuse to employee them until they resume payments on the debt they owe.

It's easy to identify what's bad for country. If the squad wants it, it's bad for the country.

There will be strings attached. Those whose debts are forgiven will have to do what the government wants them to do. They will become a cog in the wheel.

I'll up the ante. Take away the high interest payments for college costs, okay. And let's do it also for mortgage rates.

I was a late bloomer, went to medical school in my 30s. Almost 40 years old when I finish my residency. Paid off $280K (7.25% interest fed loans) in student loans at 53 years old. Think they’ll send me a refund?

What is the difference between paying off all of those student loans and giving free college.
A person would have to be stupid to pay for college if they can borrow the money and not have to pay it back.
I would assume there are kids in college who have no student loans, why would anyone pay for college if the Government loans them money and then they don't have to pay it back.

This was the Evil One's plan when he nationalized the student loan program. Defaults would cause private lenders to stop lending.

Why should We have to pay for a wasted education ? AOC is stupid and apparently didn't take American History. Omar is just a taker.
During the Obola years people I know kept stalling on their student loans just knowing he was going to waive them.
