After what was an unprecedented 2-2 deadlock along partisan lines, with the two Republican members of the Wayne County Board of Canvassers voting against certifying the county's November election results, the board unanimously voted to certify the results late Tuesday night.
The board also passed a resolution calling on Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, a Democrat, to conduct an independent comprehensive audit of all of the jurisdictions in the county that recorded unexplained discrepancies between the number of absentee ballots recorded as cast and the number of absentee ballots counted.
All four members of the board unanimously supported the certification
Legal scholar Jonathan Turley fears that former Vice President Joe Biden’s transition team has taken an “ominous turn” with one of its latest appointments. The George Washington University Law professor warned of the consequences of Biden’s choice for a key media post, noting on his website that it would be “difficult to select a more anti-free speech figure” than Richard Stengel, an MSNBC analyst and former Obama administration official.Biden’s choice for the top state media position has raised alarms and, according to Turley, does not bode well for “those of us who have been critical of the growing anti-free speech movement in the Democratic Party.”
President Donald Trump on Tuesday fired Christopher Krebs, the U.S. government’s top cybersecurity official, after he spent weeks contradicting the election-related conspiracy theories that Trump and his allies have promoted to deny the legitimacy of President-elect Joe Biden’s victory.

Senator Chuck Grassley (R., Iowa) announced on Tuesday that he has tested positive for coronavirus.
At 87 years old, Grassley is the senior member of the Republican Senate caucus. Patients over the age of 70 are considered at highest risk for complications stemming from coronavirus infection. “I’ll be following my doctors’ orders/CDC guidelines & continue to quarantine,” Grassley wrote on Twitter. “I’m feeling good [and] will keep up on my work for the [people] of Iowa from home. I appreciate everyone’s well wishes [and] prayers.”
Grassley is a fixture of both the Senate Judiciary and Finance committees.

A Black Lives Matter protester who was caught on video assaulting supporters of President Trump at Saturday's "Million MAGA March" is reportedly a journalism student at Howard University. Brittany S. McAlister, 29, was filmed purportedly punching and kicking men and women several times over the course of the Washington, D.C. event, according to reporting from The Post Millennial. In one incident, McAlister allegedly kicked an unconscious man who had been knocked out by 39-year-old Kenneth Wayne Deberry. Deberry was one of four people the city's Metropolitan Police Department arrested for disorderly conduct.

Governor Inslee announced over the weekend a return to COVID lockdown requirements where restaurants and bars have to be closed for indoor dining, and can only do takeout, delivery, and, in some instances, outdoor dining. Governor Abbott is not imposing new restrictions on Texas businesses or changing course on re-opening plans for the state despite cases of the coronavirus exceeding one million. He isn’t allowing county officials to issue stronger measures than are in place now, either. The governor’s approach tries to balance mitigating the latest wave of the coronavirus in the state while continuing to oversee the economic recovery in Texas. Abbott is resisting calls to further limit gatherings, re-close nonessential businesses, or issue stricter mask requirements. This doesn’t mean the state is wide open, it’s not. It looks like New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s Thanksgiving restrictions are already dead in the water. A number of sheriffs declared that they would not be enforcing the governor’s private gathering limit on the holiday. Fulton County Sheriff Richard Giardino published a Facebook post on Saturday indicating his refusal to enforce the 10-person cap on gatherings and parties in private residences. “Frankly, I am not sure it could sustain a Constitutional challenge in Court for several reasons including your house is your castle,” he wrote. “And as a Sheriff with a law degree I couldn’t in good faith attempt to defend it Court, so I won’t.”

Israel could become the third country in the world to legalize marijuana for recreational use under a plan recently announced by the government. The recommendations from an interministerial committee call for the introduction of implementing legislation by the end of the month. Legalization would take effect nine months after the bill is approved by the Knesset, Israel's parliament. The third time wasn't the charm for the Pentagon, which has once again failed to successfully complete an audit. Thomas Harker, the Pentagon's comptroller, told Reuters that it could be another seven years before the department can pass an audit—something that it has never accomplished. WASHINGTON—Trump campaign lawyer and former federal prosecutor Sidney Powell released an affidavit on Nov. 16, from an alleged whistleblower who claims to have witnessed how election software secretly manipulates votes without leaving a trace.
The whistleblower—who says his or her background is with the Venezuelan military, including the national security guard detail of the Venezuelan president—outlines an alleged conspiracy between Smartmatic software executives, former Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez, and that country’s election officials, to ensure Chavez won reelections and retained power for years. The whistleblower said he was present at multiple meetings.

Of course, I believe that Donald Trump won the November 3rd election fair and square and he should use every legal means to prove it.
But, it seems to me that we are not going to get out of the present cold civil war until the American people teach the Democrats a lesson they will never forget. The Democrats dismiss any mention of the innumerable irregularities that tainted the general election as little more than crackpot conspiracy theories. This is a convenient way to avoid addressing serious questions raised by serious observers, but it will further undermine confidence in key institutions that fo*m the foundation upon which the republic stands. Public trust in government, media, and even science was already declining before Election Day. This trend will dramatically accelerate if Americans don’t get answers to questions such as the following: Why would the voters deliver the Democrats a comprehensive down-ballot drubbing yet hand the White House to the worst presidential candidate in living memory?
The Washington Post on Sunday penned an editorial calling for the elimination of the Electoral College. According to the editorial board, it's time for America to be covered by the majority without the protections for the minority. It is with desperation that Trump supporters -- those of us who are faithful to the Constitution and expect our elected officials to be faithful to it as well -- are distraught at the rumor that Durham is giving-up on his investigation of the coup plotters, who broke every law on the books in their attempt to derail the Trump presidency. How can this be? What has been shared with the public is more than enough to send many of the conspirators to prison for the rest of their lives, but as yet not one of them has even been charged with a crime.

On Nov. 6, the government’s October jobs report revealed that the nation’s unemployment rate dropped a full point to a seasonally adjusted 6.9 percent, while nonfarm payroll employment increased by 638,000. The reported unemployment rate smashed expectations that it would only drop to 7.6 percent, while the employment increase beat expectations by 58,000.
The report’s detail was even stronger than its headline numbers.
SACRAMENTO — Although the coronavirus pandemic has largely grounded the global travel industry, it did not stop the annual political conference that brings California lawmakers to Hawaii for five days of policy discussions and schmoozing with corporate sponsors.
The conference, which has been hosted by the Independent Voter Project every November for more than a decade, is taking place this week at the Fairmont Kea Lani on Maui’s southwest shore.
“Somebody has to be first to say, ‘OK, we’re going to do a group event safely,’” Dan Howle, chairman and executive director of the Independent Voter Project, said in a phone interview from Maui.
In the past few days, Democrats and their allies in the #NeverTrump movement have started the ominous practice of compiling blacklists of Trump supporters or those who refuse to immediately trumpet Joe Biden’s contested and as yet unconfirmed victory in the November election. CNN, perhaps afraid of falling behind, ran a report listing every single Republican senator who has refused to congratulate Biden so far. At the bottom on the screen, the outlet singled out the president’s dastardly “enablers” who dared to stand up for Trump’s right to raise legal challenges in response to serious concerns about potential fraud.

There are two kinds of vice presidents, those who enter the office with chops and those who don’t. For purposes of the vice presidency, chops can be earned by high level service, by having mounted a credible presidential campaign, or by being the leader of a wing of the president’s party.
Lyndon Johnson, Hubert Humphrey, and Dick Cheney are probably the best examples in my lifetime of vice presidents who took office with chops. Spiro Agnew and Dan Quayle are good examples of ones who didn’t.
Chops don’t guarantee that the president will listen much to his VP. Johnson had very little influence with President Kennedy.

Powell proceeded to drop several large bombs in those interviews, and made a promise that has reverberated particularly in conservative circles.
She said she would soon “release the Kraken.”
