Chicago Public Schools on Friday pushed back against the Chicago Teachers Union, which filed an unfair labor practice charge last week accusing the city’s school district of illegally refusing to negotiate with the union on how to safely resume in-person classes amid health concerns. The union has “refused to even discuss” returning to in-person classes, school district spokeswoman Emily Bolton said in a statement. “We are disheartened that CTU continues to obstruct and mislead the public about the necessary planning measures needed to prepare for a potential return to safe in-person learning,” Bolton said. “While the district is doing everything

Better yet. Let Trump sign an EO undoing Kennedy's EO allowing public sector unions. Save lots of taxpayer money and local communities would be able run their schools for the benefit of their children, not the benefit of goons promoting leftwing propaganda.

Simple: Each district needs only one 3rd, 4th, 5th etc. grade teacher.
Tests get corrected by computer. All other teachers are surplus.
Since the classes are recorded, you can run them again next year. (Math problems don't change.)
The rest are free to pursue other jobs.

No children in School, No FUNDING! That's the way it should work. Schools get paid for each student attending on a given day. I don't see any reason to fund empty schools that don't require Air conditioning or heat! Visual teaching is a joke! Trump should sign an executive order today!

Vouchers are needed. Defund public schools. Disband the unions. They are the problem in education.

Have teachers in the family, and they are already complaining about how there is going to be an education gap from those who learn in-person, and those who don't. How it's not fair, blah, blah...

Of course. Da union says they can sit home and show up on video now and then and get paid.
The alternative is they will have to go to a Chicago school where they can get beat up, fired, or shot.

The union should remember what happened to the air traffic controller's union (PATCO) under President Reagan!

Defund the union. Support school choice and charter schools which would pull the wings off these insects.

Bus and taxi drivers, store clerks, postal employees, delivery men and women, my husband and countless others have continued working outside the safety of their homes during this pandemic but public school teachers are simply too precious to do their jobs.

sigh... #3, Kennedy's EO was supplanted by Jimmy Carter's 1978 Civil Service reform Act, but each dealt with federal employees.
Teachers bargain under state law - the last time I looked, Illinois allowed state and local employees to bargain collectively under a governor's executive order.

Government worker unions violate the Voting Right Act because they get to vote on funding issues and for political candidates while everyone else cannot. Essentially they get to vote twice violating the one person, one vote clause. I don’t think this argument has ever been made in a SOTUS case.
