Republican Sen. Ben Sasse excoriated President Trump in a telephone conference call with constituents this week, saying he had mishandled the coronavirus response, "kisses dictators' butts," "sells out our allies," spends "like a drunken sailor," mistreats women, and trash-talks evangelicals behind their backs. Trump has "flirted with white supremacists," according to Sasse, and his family "treated the presidency like a business opportunity." He said Trump could drive the Senate into the hand of the Democrats and cause permanent damage to the Republican Party.

Possibly a 2024 republican presidential candidate...oh please we don’t need anymore fake republicans..he’s been around Romney toooo long...Sasse is very disrespectful to have this conference call this close to the election. Sasse needed Trump when was losing...then threw him away...

Not sure, but I think that Moron is up for re-election. He must be sure he is going to lose! I can't imagine any voters in Nebraska who would be proud of that phone call! Shame should be washing over every person who voted him into office!l I know we need every single Senate Seat we can get, but Jeesh! Couldn't Nebraska come up with someone decent? Sasse doesn't belong in the Senate as a Republcian. He should have changed parties before running again. He is not a Republican!!

Sasse’s remarks are outrageous - Trump called for a lockdown because that’s what “expert” Fauci and scarf woman recommended - and the whole world was at a loss on how to deal with this unknown virus unleashed by China. Trump handled it like a business man: what’s needed? We’ve got no ventilators? OK, private industry kick in, kick in on treatments too, and vaccine, put on fast track...” There’s still controversy on masks - and yet people like Sasse want to blame Trump - that Sasse thinks he needs to blame Trump in order to keep his Senate seat is wrongheaded.

We don't need the so-called Republicans that still think they can win elections by being Democrat-lite candidates. Republicans don't want you, and Democrats will vote for Democrats. Stupid.

Ben Sass is a creepy holier than thou self-serving politician. He intends to run for the presidency in 2024, either by seeking the Republican nomination for President, or be selected as Mittens Romney’s Vice-Presidential nominee if Romney wins the Republican nomination. But there is a big roadblock to those plans of both the anti-Trump Romney and Sass, as if President Trump and Vice-President Pence are re-elected it is a sure thing that Pence will be the front runner to win the 2024 Republican nomination, leaving both Romney and Sass out in the cold. After this episode by Sass trying to put Trump down right before the election becoming public and essentially hinting that he intends to vote for the Biden-Harris Democrat ticket, Sass essentially has shot himself in his political foot, as no Trump supporter is ever going to vote for Sass in the 2024 Republican primaries, and without those Republican votes it will be impossible for Sass to win those Republican primaries.

Perhaps if he got more comments from disgusted Republicans he might think twice the next time he opens his mouth trying to catch the lefties' attention. With Republican President Donald Trump leading Wisconsin in early returns for most of the night, Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden is now managing a razor-thin lead in the state after Milwaukee County delivered results from thousands of absentee ballots. The race, however, still hangs in the balance, with absentee ballot results in Kenosha and Brown Counties still outstanding. Absentee ballot returns are expected to arrive shortly from Brown County and Kenosha County.

The old slogan, "The Best of Care" can still be found on Ellwood City Medical Center's old promotional materials. When the pandemic began, the old rural Rust Belt country where President Trump beat Hillary Clinton could have used a hospital. Any hospital. There was even talk of reopening the defunct hospital again to treat coronavirus patients. But, like so much in Pennsylvania, the Ellwood City Medical Center never recovered from the Democrats. The FBI raided it in January and the hospital lost its license next month. Not that it mattered at that point because the hospital had already been shut down since December.

CNN’s hatred for President Trump and Republicans was boiling over on the eve of Election Day. Their animus was perfectly summed up during a Monday segment of Cuomo PrimeTime which featured New York Times columnist, the insufferably pompous Tom Friedman. According to the duo, the Republicans were just a bunch of “manure” eating racists and whores trying to stir up a Lebanese-style civil war while trying to suppress votes, while President Trump was trying to “put a bullet into the country.” Nothing about that description is an exaggeration. With just hours until polls opened, they were throwing everything they had at the all.

Washington—Former President George W. Bush and his wife, Laura, will not make public how they voted in this year’s presidential race, four years after the couple revealed on Election Day that they had selected “none of the above” in the 2016 White House contest. Bush spokesman Freddy Ford—who has stressed repeatedly over the 2020 campaign cycle that the former president is “retired from presidential politics”—on Monday confirmed that the Dallas residents are keeping their ballot box decisions to themselves this year. That it’s even a question is remarkable, underscoring yet again how Trump has transformed the Republican Party from the party it was under Bush.

President Donald Trump suggested to a Florida rally crowd he might fire Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease, once Election Day has passed. This is called an About Time moment. Fauci should’ve been fired long ago. Truth be told, Fauci never should have been granted the wide-scale, nationwide public platform at the White House in the first place. He should’ve been kept behind scenes, as one of many COVID-19 advisers to the president. He only should have been given the media platform when he was speaking a tightly controlled administration-penned message. Why?

Americans take for granted that, when we step into the voting booth and cast our ballots, the choices we make will remain secret unless we voluntarily reveal them. Moreover, regardless of ideological bent, very few voters would approve of any attempt to lift that veil of privacy from the process. Yet the secret ballot was essentially unheard of in the United States until the mid-19th century, and it wasn’t adopted throughout the country until the 1890s. Before then, elections were conducted by voice or by color-coded tickets. The “shy Trump voter” could never survive in such an electoral environment. Thus, it’s unlikely that Trump could have been elected in 2016.
