Chief Justice John Roberts on Wednesday paid tribute to Ruth Bader Ginsburg after the arrival of her casket at the Supreme Court, where the body of the iconic liberal justice will lie in repose for two days of public viewing. “Justice Ginsburg’s life was one of the many versions of the American dream,” Roberts said in a brief eulogy as members of her family looked on. Ginsburg died Friday of complications from pancreatic cancer at 87. “Her father was an immigrant from Odessa,” Roberts continued. “Her mother was born four months after her family arrived from Poland. Poppycock. Balderdash. And other appellations of derision and mockery.
RBG was a fake Justice. Never a Judge, she remained an ADVOCATE on the Court.
Look at the statue of Justice. She wears a blindfold and holds scales. The Justice does not favor any side. RBG always favored one side, the LGBT side.
And as for abortion. 40,000,000 little voices will object to her going to Abraham's bosom.

OP and #1, what would you have him say? She has passed and Roberts being an AH isn't going to change anything. He was correct in his eulogy.

Ruthie, as stated before was a judge who thought herself to be a legislator. Her ego is to blame for the dems hysterics. Had she retired under obama he would have name a young liberal to the court. She didn't It's now Trump's choice.

I’m not going to deify a SC justice who was blatantly political, legislated from the bench, and thought we should be ruled by global law. Condolences to her family but she will not be missed by conservatives.

What do they have on him? He's the most inconsistent CJ in court history. He also the most destructive, having invented from pure fantasy a illogical argument in favor of Obamacare. Whatever they know about him, it's working.

A pox on George W. Bush, for not only appointing John Roberts to the Supreme Court, but for assigning him as Chief Justice. His contention that Justices of the Supreme Court are "rock stars" is pathetic, and suggests that they are of the same status as entertainers. Both of the Bush residents of the White House were very, very careless in their supreme court appointments.

Roberts sounds stupid. Ginsberg wasn't an icon but an eyesore. It would be nice to say in eulogy that the person had a brilliant Constitutional mind not 'rock star' how childish sounding is that? Roberts sounds girly man flaky to me.

While I agree with #3 that it does no good for CJ Roberts to be a jerk at a memorial service, he only did what evidently comes naturally to him, kiss up to the masses. Just saw a headline on Fox that voices outside the courthouse booed PDT and FLOTUS as they left the building. Maybe Roberts just thinks this is a way to keep his car from being keyed, or so the SC building doesn't get torched. In ANY event, he has proved to be unreliable as a jurist and a bit of a brown noser to the elite. Don't care what they have on him, I just see him as being one of the reliable four constitutionally illiterate side of the court.
She won't rest in peace [at least not by biblical principle], but may she be buried in peace and let us get on with the show of appointing a replacement that will make her "rollover in her grave". Pass the popcorn, the next few weeks are going to be a doozy!!!
MAGA!!! KAG!!! TRUMPS 2020 AND BEYOND!!! The disrespect shown our POTUS AND FLOTUS today should be reflected by keeping them in office for FOUR MORE YEARS!!!

Roberts' reputation is that he's intelligent. If so, why does he make so many stupid statements? Most of his statements are through the prism of a politician, not a Chief Justice. When I was in the Army we referred to his ilk as being a "Candy Ass."

No she was not. She was a rebel who routinely violated her oath in taking the job. She legislated from the bench and did not do what she promised to do if approved for the court. She was not a good person - just look at her record on race where she had one black clerk in 27 years on the court. You would have to actively work to have that kind of record and she obviously chose to have it that way, especially in this age of "wokeness".

The hypocrisy is sickening. This woman was the sole dissenter on the judgement banning the evil procedure of partial birth abortion. On grounds that 'women will not be full citizens until this procedure is allowed'. Only a truly evil mind can think like that. At least hold your silence.

I pathetically rooted to Roberts to be seated on the Court. I hope I don't make any more tragic mistakes such as letting Biden be elected President. Considering the number of conquests he made on Jeffery Epstein's pleasure craft, he needs to join The Titanic at the bottom of any ocean.

What a weenie Jjr is to be getting a thrill out of Ginsberg ,who "helped move our nation closer to equal justice under the law to the extent that women are now a majority in law schools, not simply a handful".
First, if there is equal justice if EITHER side has a majority , then we need to boot the extra female law students out and keep it EXACTLY "equal" if that's defines a perfect world . Besides , I"m a firm believer that any more than a handful is a waste, anyway........

john roberts.
The perfect demonstration of a pig in a poke, right there.
Agree with all above posters; he's got a stink-baited treble hook in his mouth, definitely. It's usually a noxious sublime blend of bribery and blackmail and it catches fish by the thousands, as they say.
Something else that always bugs me; being called a "rock star" isn't the ultimate compliment people think it is if you've spent any real professional time in the rock music business.

I'm no fan of John Roberts. That said, I think his comment could possibly be taken as a slam on Ginsburg. Saying that a judge, particularly a SCOTUS justice, is a "rock star" is no compliment. As others have suggested, the role of any judge is to be a dispassionate, neutral arbiter; it's not a popularity contest.

@#3 - Antonin Scalia was a rock star! He adhered to the Constitution when deciding cases. RBG did not. Her decisions were based on her personal beliefs and her left leaning ideology. Therefore, she was not qualified to be on the SC or any court for that matter.
