CHICAGO -- The Illinois National Guard has been put on standby for the reaction to the charging decision in Breonna Taylor's police shooting death. Kentucky officials announced Wednesday afternoon that Louisville Officer Brett Hankison was charged with three counts of wanton endangerment in connection to the police raid on the night of March 13. After the announcement, a spokeswoman for the Chicago Office of Emergency Management and Communications said "OEMC is monitoring the situation at this time, and the City of Chicago will take proper precautions to ensure public safety throughout the entire city." Gov. JB Pritzker, Lt. Gov. Julianna Stratton

Comments:

Gov Pritzy is condemning the grand jury decision, which will just add fuel to any fires. To top it off, the case is not even in IL.

These are two rules operative in America in 2020: If any black person is killed by police, *no matter the circumstances*, there will be rioting-- arson, looting, violent attacks on police, and often assaults on random whites. To give a specific example, a black man in Lancaster, PA, can be seen on body cam attacking a cop with a butcher knife. Running at the cop with the knife held high, ready to stab. The officer shoots him-- and the riots commence. Rule: police are not allowed to shoot any black person. Period. Rule Two: whites are not allowed to defend themselves-- no matter the circumstances. Examples, the McCloskeys, and Kyle Rittenhouse. A mob can invade your property, hurl threats, and if you take up arms to defend yourself, you-- and not anyone in the mob-- will be arrested. Rittenhouse was attacked with a skateboard, a lethal weapon when slammed into someone's head, and about to be shot with a pistol. When he defended himself with an AR, he was arrested. How long can this go on? Not much longer.

Riots will go on and intensify until someone has guts enough to order shoot to kill orders to suppress them.

Trump needs to announce that he will pardon anyone who is arrested for lawfully defending his life or property. A prosecutor's whims should not make people afraid to fight back against BLM and Antifa.

MIAMI — Progressive activists backing Joe Biden in Florida say they’ve made millions of phone calls, sent hundreds of thousands of text messages and even written thousands of letters to persuade voters to support the Democratic presidential nominee. But one thing they’re largely not doing — and growing increasingly worried about — is talking to voters face to face. Now, with the number of coronavirus cases down from their July peak in Florida and Election Day less than six weeks away, the state’s largest left-leaning grassroots organizations and political field operations are making a last-minute push to get back in

On a late Thursday afternoon conference call of the left-wing group Patriotic Millionaires, group President Erica Payne urged activists to work against a coming Trump Supreme Court nominee by “mak[ing] this an unbelievably painful process for Senate Republicans” and “kick[ing] the f--- out of” Democratic senators who won’t fight hard enough. (Snip) The strategy, outlined in a letter the group plans to send to all Democratic senators, would involve gumming up the Senate works in several ways in order to cause “a massive headache” for Republican senators who want to be in their home states campaigning for reelection. LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Kentucky grand jury on Wednesday indicted a single police officer for shooting into neighboring apartments but did not move forward with charges against any officers for their role in Breonna Taylor’s death. A grand jury announced that Officer Brett Hankison was charged with three counts of wanton endangerment in connection to the police raid on the night of March 13. Neither the grand jury nor the presiding judge elaborated on the charges. State Attorney General Daniel Cameron scheduled a news conference in the capital, Frankfort, to discuss the grand jury’s decision. Immediately after the announcement, people

WILMINGTON, Del. — Joe Biden was running late. Again. On a recent Friday, he’d already apologized for the delayed start to a speech, then taken more questions than expected at a subsequent press conference. When it was finally over, Biden’s motorcade sped away quickly enough to leave behind one of the journalists traveling with it. (Snip) He was more than 90 minutes late to a speech and another press conference in Wilmington last week, and arrived at a CNN town hall in Pennsylvania the following day with barely 20 minutes to clip on a microphone and prepare to go on air.

Senate Democrats are tamping down talk of expanding the Supreme Court if Republicans fill the seat held by the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Progressive activists and some lawmakers have raised the idea since Ginsburg’s death was announced on Friday night, arguing the party needs to be ready to take bold steps if they have the Senate majority and the White House next year while facing a 6-3 conservative court. The effort would tie together two controversial ideas: nixing the 60-vote legislative filibuster and then passing legislation to add seats to the Supreme Court, which has been set at nine

Imagine hating yourself enough to watch a presidential debate featuring Donald Trump. What reason would you possibly have? To make sure he’s a lying sociopath? To see if he’s a worse choice than Joe Biden? To gain useful insights into American politics? In truth, there is no point, especially in a format that will involve remote participation because of the pandemic. Nothing will be revealed that we don’t already know and know so thoroughly that we can barely stand to hear it again. We could cancel the upcoming debates and lose nothing. Most Americans, regardless of whether they are Republican or Democrat, believe the Senate should move forward with confirmation hearings for a Supreme Court Justice this year, a new poll says. The Marquette University Law School poll found 67% of respondents believed confirmation should proceed in 2020 while just 32% said the chamber should hold off. The survey was conducted between Sept. 8 to Sept. 15 — just days before the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg from cancer Friday evening. The poll did not suggest a strong partisan divide over the issue, with 68% of Republicans and 63% of Democrats holding

Democrats have reacted with anger after Senator Dianne Feinstein appeared to dismiss the idea of ending the filibuster and expanding the Supreme Court. Feinstein was asked about abolishing the filibuster which allows a senator to hold up the passage of legislation by speaking for hours at a time. The California Democrat ruled out getting rid of the filibuster as part of an effort to pack the Supreme Court. "I don't believe in doing that. I think the filibuster serves a purpose. It is not often used, it's often less used now than when I first came, and I think it's

California Governor Gavin Newsom announced Wednesday that the state will ban sales of gas-powered vehicles, effective in 2035. Newsom said that the “audacious” goal was necessary to achieve the state’s goal of 100% renewable energy by 2045. Newsom said that his new executive order would “eliminate” the sales of “internal combustion engines” and move to electric vehicles — a move that he said would create jobs and allow California to “dominate” the market, and address climate change. Those who currently own gas-powered vehicles would still be allowed to operate them and to sell them on the used market.

As the Senate prepares for yet another brutal Supreme Court nomination fight, one particularly sensitive issue is creating apprehension among Democrats: what to do with 87-year-old Sen. Feinstein, the oldest member of the Senate, is widely respected by senators in both parties, but she has noticeably slowed in recent years. Interviews with more than a dozen Democratic senators and aides show widespread concern over whether the California Democrat is capable of leading the aggressive effort Democrats need against whoever President Donald Trump picks to replace the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
