As presidential race narrows

Debbie George, 61, a yoga instructor in Charlotte, North Carolina, said she "desperately" wants Joe Biden to carry her battleground state and defeat President Donald Trump in the general election. But from what George, a lifelong Democrat, said she has seen so far, Biden just isn't doing enough to galvanize support among Democrats and independents to win the state. "He needs to come. He needs to address North Carolinians. Some kind of socially distanced event, a small conference or roundtable," she said. "These rehearsed speeches in front of no one are not cutting it." George's concerns underscore the uphill battle

Biden thinks poking his head out of his hole and letting the media do hatchet jobs on Trump is enough to win. Voters are saying Biden needs to work for their support. LOL.

The dems' strategy of keeping Biden out of sight and hearing has backfired. Because he has been out of touch the questions of his fitness for office grew legs. Now the people are demanding he start showing up so they can judge for themselves. i don't know what else they could have done given he is not fit for office - it was 6 of one and half a dozen of another. The dems are so ... of a sharp tip piece of metal that has threads. This is getting better and better.

If you want face time with Biden, you'd better plan a trip to Delaware. Outside of an occasional jaunt to Pennsylvania, that's where he's staying.

The only face time NC will get is a pretend Joey rally with him sitting there with a mask on, 4-5 fawning media in the audience (or staffers) with the whole show televised to the masses. That way, Joey can read a teleprompter for any answers to questions, unless he loses his place reading the teleprompter and goes off-script.

The only fertile ground here in NC for the Democrats are the large urban areas and the two splinter nutball enclaves (Chapel Hill and Asheville). Flyover country is red and pro-Trump. However, our governor Crazy Cooper will pull out all the stops over the next 60 days and beyond to ensure that the red state votes are canceled out. greyseal

Initial ratings are in for the NFL’s Sunday slate of games, and the ratings decline evident from Thursday’s kickoff continued through to the league’s marquee telecast, “Sunday Night Football.” (Further ratings for other games are not yet available.) In a tight matchup that featured one of the NFL’s top draws, “Sunday Night Football” saw sharp declines in initial ratings from 2019, according to initial results reported by Deadline. Sunday night’s Rams-Cowboys game notched a 4.7 in early ratings among the most prized demographic, adults 18-49, with 14.81 million viewers. Those numbers will rise as West Coast viewership is factored in

Nine schoolchildren sat at their desks wrapped in chunky layers of flannel, their feet resting on heated soapstones as the frigid New England air stung their faces. In January 1908, amid a tuberculosis epidemic, these Rhode Island students were part of a unique experiment to combat the infectious disease: America’s first open-air school. More than a century later, educators are touting outdoor classes as a way to combat the spread of the novel coronavirus among America’s schoolchildren. In the early 1900s, it was estimated that as many as 30 percent of school-age children in Providence carried tuberculosis, a bacterial infection

CBS reporter Kathryn Watson questioned why Joe Biden wasn’t campaigning more after news broke that the former vice president was not expected to have public events Saturday. “Not sure why Biden isn't doing more to show he can outwork Trump,” Watson tweeted Saturday in response to Politico reporter Jake Sherman announcing a lid had been called in Wilmington, Del., meaning no events for Biden. “And yes I realize there's a pandemic and he shouldn't be out shaking hands. But he has a team of experienced people at his disposal to think up creative ways to campaign safely,” she added.

Former Vice President Joe Biden's security perimeter was compromised by an unidentified photographer at a Pennsylvania airport Friday afternoon, according to CBS News. As the Democratic presidential nominee walked up the staircase to his chartered plane at the John Murtha Johnstown-Cambria County Airport with his wife, Jill, a cameraman walked onto the airport tarmac and went behind the plane, finding his way to a group of credentialed members of the press who were observing the Bidens board the plane under its left wing. Florida's Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, an ardent fan of President Donald Trump, may have outdone his hero by assembling a high court more conservative than the U.S. Supreme Court. Luckily for DeSantis, the three most liberal members of the Florida Supreme Court retired just as he took office in January 2019, allowing him to install conservative replacements. Then Trump elevated two of them to the federal appellate court in Atlanta and created two new openings for DeSantis to fill. Only one of the court's seven members, Justice Jorge Labarga, a Gov. I’m not anti-mask, per se. There, I said it. If you’ve been reading my rants, er, columns on the topic these past few months, you might get another idea though, and I understand that. It certainly SEEMS like I’m anti-mask, and you’d be forgiven for thinking that was the case. That doesn’t mean that I like wearing them, of course. They’re uncomfortable and stifling and, frankly, disgusting. Even so, I WOULD wear them, when necessary, if the arguments the mask-proponents used to con almost the entire world into accepting and even mandating the practice were actually, well, true. Ah, but there’s the rub, right?

This year’s presidential election confronts voters with the most consequential choice they have faced in decades, and for many, their lifetimes: between a divisive, authoritarian-leaning incumbent and a seasoned patriot who brings not only five decades of experience, ability and commitment to American values, but also bold ideas at a time of national crisis. Nothing less than the health of our constitutional democracy is at stake. So stark is the contrast between Donald Trump and Joe Biden that we feel compelled to announce our endorsement of the Democratic nominee and his running mate, Sen. Normally, I would spurn the idea of citing an anonymous post that purports to contain inside information on a presidential candidate. One is that MSM Trump-haters have no compunction at all over relying exclusively on anonymous sources (snip) But the other factor is more serious and directly relevant to the anonymous post I am about to cite. The Biden campaign clearly is hiding their candidate from exposure to circumstances that might test his mental acuity and vigor on a sustained basis. I woke up in the morning wondering about the dark red rays coming from behind the curtain. While I expected the darkened sky, the degree of darkness and the fact that I couldn’t smell fire surprised me. Northern California fires have become increasingly common over the last decade as a consequence of mismanaging the environment. Native Americans staged controlled burns to safeguard their villages and create favorable hunting conditions. We failed to emulate that practice, and, as even Mother Jones concedes, so much fuel accumulated in the wilderness that megafires began burning year after year.
