Let Portland and Seattle burn

Lawyers tell the joke about a person on trial for mariticide – killing one’s spouse. The defendant testified, “I didn’t do it and, if I did, it was in self-defense.”
The point for lawyers is that you can plead inconsistent legal theories, but not inconsistent facts.
Which brings me to Portland, Seattle and the Democrats. On the one hand, while their cities are looted and burned the Dems maintain that in fact the looters and burners are “perfectly peaceful.”
The Dems’ lackeys in the media spin the same tale.

What an ignorant "writer" this Beaton guy is. While he's on a roll, let New York City burn, Minneapolis and any other American city that is torched by these thugs? Let Paris burn. Let it all burn. And when the thugs come for your town Glenn? Let it burn. Jerk. Glenn, how about some troops driving tanks over the rioters? How about shooting the goons? How about overwhelming force and arresting some mayors and governors as accessories to crime? What an imbessil.

Favbeck -- The first rule when you call someone an imbecile is to spell the word correctly.
As for the thugs coming to my town, the difference between my town and Portland is that my town would not encourage them to loot, burn and riot. My town would try to stop them, and would welcome help in that effort from the feds, rather than blaming the feds.

This reminds me of Jordon Peterson's salient point about the left and the young in particular adopting pseudo moralistic stances. His point is they adopt these PC global super hero stances to make themselves feel better about their messy, miserable existences and look better to their equally miserable friends when the reality is they simply need to grow up, get their lives in order, and stop acting like selfish, lazy toddlers, in his words "clean your room."
The video of Peterson's exchange with the obese female Millennial who scoffed at his suggestion she grow up is available online. Just duckduckgo "Jordon Peterson pseudo moralistic stances"

I think Trump has struck the perfect balance, protecting federal property, which he has the clear responsibility and right to do. It also infuriates the Left and makes them attack the federal buildings which gets them arrested with federal charges and they go before a federal judge, not a brainless, local, Leftist magistrate. The consequences are serious and it identifies the rioters. Their names should be published. It's the same strategy he uses with the media; he trolls them and their TDS causes them to run full tilt into the buzzsaw. Some have lost their jobs. Others and their networks have lost credibility and viewers.
As to the rest of the city, it's their mess, let THEM clean it up and pay for it. THEY voted for these do nothing fools. IF the cities vote in new, responsible leadership and make significant changes then some well targeted federal aid might be OK but the biggest burden should remain with the dopes that made the bad choices that allowed this to happen. If there is no pain for bad choices, there will be no change or improvement.

Since the protestors are peaceful, then the cities won't be needing any federal funds for cleaning up the destruction.

Letting American cities burn is tempting as the foolish citizens have asked, no begged, for trouble for a half a century at least. But just like failed states are an existential threat to their regions, so are these cities magnets for nihilists and terrorists. The U.S. is not safe from what amounts to a cancer on the body politic until these cities are brought back to peace. In our tolerant (read effeminate) society we don’t accept muscular responses as legitimate and now we have overgrown toddlers destroying our way of life. The time for talking is over and after only one more warning any violence from the children should be considered a cry for a violent response. Then, as my dad used to say, court’s out. If private citizens need to take over policing responsibilities so be it. And then we protect our own from the corrupt power structure. Get organized. I know I sound like they do but our cause is just. Theirs is not.

FTA_"Oddly, these Dem politicians still seem to have some support from the people who elected them in Portland and Seattle. The hard left of those cities feel good about themselves by imagining that the filthy vagrants, violent anarchists and sick sociopaths they encourage to roam their cities picking fights to overthrow the government are social justice warriors." I've been saying this all along. Come elections, the electorate will still put the same people back in office. They are right, by golly, and will fight until the entire place is burned down to show you how good they are in fighting the man!

#1; You may not have heard that at least some of the sheriffs here in FL are encouraging people to carry a weapon, if they do so legally. Not much 'peaceful protesting' in my part of FL.

The one thing that all the burned out cities have in common is that they are all jurisdictions that have been governed for decades by leftist and liberal Democrat politicians who have been very happy to covertly support and tolerate the extreme leftist anarchist rioters, with most of violent rioters after the first wave being White losers, who are attempting to change the National politics and society of the USA into some sort of a socialist utopia.
The local electorates of those cities have an indirect responsibility for allowing the violent riots to occur, as they elected the leftist and liberal Democrat local and State politicians who are covertly and directly supporting and tolerating the anarchist rioters for political purposes. So those electorates deserve the incompetent governance that they are now receiving. One thing is for sure, it should not be the Federal taxpayers who pay to restore the physical damage that all those leftist and liberal Democrat politicians have allowed to occur.

Don't bail them out. Make their taxpayers pay. It's the only way to make change in these leftist cities.

Democrats are Riot Deniers. They are in denial that their party encourages violent riots, vandalism, and looting.

The only inaccuracy in this article is that the author compares Seattle and Portland to San Francisco. As I long time resident of SF I do have pride that the violence here, although too much, was nothing compared to other cities and ended long ago.
Since every square inch of this city is valuable our rulers, unlike those in Portland and Seattle, not only don’t encourage violence they also forbid it. With that I will affirm that the mayor and board of supervisors are politically correct lunatics and incipient totalitarians.

I thought Beaton's observation that Portland and Seattle are jealous of San Francisco was prescient. I spent five years, post college, living in both cities and there is an almost palpable inferiority complex that influences city government decisions, as well as citizen attitudes.
They are the three major cities of the Pacific Northwest region and have been in competitive cooperation since the 1850's. The Gold Rush made San Francisco the gilded queen of the coast while Portland and Seattle citizens carved their living out the forests, rivers and fertile valleys. San Francisco was the flashy and beautiful big sister. Portland and Seattle were the family ugly ducklings that built her houses and supplied her food. Seattle raised up her Space Needle and Portland settled for bridges. Seattle became respectable enough through Boeing and high tech to be invited to the better parties, but Portland never shook her farmer/hick heritage despite draping themselves in hippie tie-die.
So the only venue remaining is politics. Seattle and Portland are hell-bent on outdoing San Francisco in radical Marxism and becoming the leading light in the transformation of AmeriKa. There are a lot of good people in the region being held hostage by city centers captured by the commies. Not a unique situation to the Pacific Northwest.

Since these are peaceful, one can assume there will be no damage done and they will clean the trash when they are finished. Not leave a mess like the vile tea party did. Or have I got it reversed. Main stream idiots, er media, tell me it’s the tea party that is bad. I’m glad they know so I do not need to seek guidance from the Bible.

We should not withdraw the feds from anywhere. They have a responsibility to protect federal buildings and workers. They should not get involved in the responsibilities of the local governments to protect the local citizens. If the citizens are not happy with the way things are going, they need to get involved and pressure the incompetent and corrupt local officials to do their duty, or else replace them.

As far as I am concerned, protect the federal installations with federal law enforcement and let the folks feel the full "benefit" of the mayors and governors that they have elected.
It is absolutely NOT the federal government's job to enforce local laws, which include arson, looting, robbery. and almost all ordinary crimes.
Defund the police and ENJOY the results of your choices. Life is all about choices and choosing Dems means choosing anarchy, destruction and death. Learn from your experiences and DON'T VOTE FOR DEMS IN NOVEMBER.

Democrat-run cities should burn to the ground. Just don't let them contaminate other parts of America. Make them stay in place.
