People are getting stupider, it's a scientific fact

The “Flynn Effect” is the phenomena identified by intelligence researcher James Flynn. He found that average intelligence quotients, or IQ’s, as measured by standardized tests were steadily increasing through the course of the 20th century. That sounds quite natural because, after all, each generation gets better nurturing. They get better health, improved medical care, more nutritious food and greater schooling. But IQ is supposed to be mainly about nature, not nurture. Nurturing can certainly affect a person’s well-being, but in theory it doesn’t change a person’s IQ much (except of course when the nurturing is so bad that it produces negative neurological effects).

Will we get too stupid too fast to figure out why and how to stop it?

I think calculators and cell phones are contributing factors. I can remember having to do arithmetic in my head or with pencil a d paper. We used remember people's phone numbers. Now smart phones do it all. I also remember memorizing directions so I could drive somewhere without having to look.

It is true that minds are not being trained any more at school. I have been appalled by the level of intelligence displayed by top graduates of top institution during interviews and subsequent internships. Supposedly smart students from tough stem programs. However, for more than two generations the smartest students have gone to college where they were indoctrinated by the green fanatics with the belief that having children will destroy the planet. So there is a reason to concentrate on career and fun and delay kids, often until it is too late to have any. So the smartest are not reproducing. And certainly not at the rates they were in previous generations. And yes I can hear the steps of the marching morons. Rent the movie idiocracy and see the future. I hope the solution detailed in "The Marching Morons" won't become reality.

The fact of the matter is there is a definite, statistically significant, difference in IQs between races and ethnic groups. I was a Psych major in the early 70s, and that fact was taught. There was a lot of mushy equivocation, but hard data were irrefutable. The only was to close the IQ gap is to dumb down the bright students, and government schools are doing a great job.

I found a high school notebook of my Mom's some years before she died. It was from 1947. In addition to attempts at forging her mother's signature (Ha!), there was some math homework that was so detailed, so precise and so neat it looked like it came from a rocket scientist. I could not figure out what was even being asked, let alone the answer. I asked Mom about it. She said she was an average student and always struggled with it. Now such equations would only be found in an engineering school.

The US has fallen dramatically in math performance compared to other countries in the world since the mid 90's. why? We have thrown a ton of money at education since then. Our kids are becoming illiterate in math, but worse, they are losing the ability to use logic and perform critical thinking. They want to be rap stars, make a fortune, be a social media "influencer" and sell branded mascara to become a billionaire. If this doesn't stop, the US will no longer be an engineering and science leader. And they don't understand or practice Judeo/Christian values. Hey, but they all will be woke! We cannot fall to the least common denominator... but this is what the woke want you to do! Look up Alinsky Rules.

The dinner table is/was indeed the market place for personal development, of ideas and important discussions. The youngsters, now full grown adults, are educated, know what indoctrination/BS looks like, and critically think for themselves. We would be hard pressed to replicate that level of success given the state of public education and cultural decline. The only guard against having your kid fall prey to the phycological and intellectual damage of wokism is family time at supper at the family table, school choice, private schools if one can afford it, and/or home schooling, and sincere/earnest parental/guardian involvement.

Couldn't you say that, by definition, half of the US population has intelligence below the overall mean? Since the phenomenon of decreasing overall intelligence seems to track with decades of both Left-wing indoctrination and Democrat stuffing of the population mass with third-world refugees and illegals, wouldn't it follow which political proclivity dominates the lower half of the curve?

The Dumbing Down of America has been going on for years. Another problem not listed is the amount of classroom instruction wasted on kids who do not comprehend English and the teachers who don't either. Those who were born after baby boomers not going to private or religious schools or home schooled often do not have any common sense. I have no excuse for the old bats in Washington however. Academically, we have fallen way behind other nations. I have real problems with 'stupid' every time I leave home.

People of my generation learned to read with Dr. Seuss. Sure, there were some child-like hijinks in the doctor’s prescriptions but to many toddlers the rhyme and rhythm were music to the ears, tonic to the souls and tutors to the unschooled. Mostly, they were exactly what Dr. Seuss intended them to be – entertaining, mischievous children’s literature. Dr. Seuss succeeded for nearly a century. In that time, millions of children learned to read and Dr. Seuss was awarded numerous prizes.

If you want to be part of Joe Biden’s administration, you need to be a “first.” I don’t mean “first” like first in your college graduation class. Heck, Biden himself was only in the top 50% of his law school class according to Biden and only in the top 85% according to the school records. No, not that kind of first. After all, this is a Democrat administration and so we’re not talking about dead white patriarchal European so-called merit. What we’re talking about is that you need to be a “first” in your skin color or sexuality.

The first vaccine against the Wuhan virus was developed by a German biotech company, BioNTech, in partnership with American pharmaceutical giant Pfizer. So why is the vaccination rate in Germany stuck at 4% while the American vaccination rate is now quadruple that? Throughout Europe, it’s much the same story. The vaccination rate is 4% in France, Spain, Sweden and Italy, and 5% in Finland, Greece, Poland and Norway. Only the UK, now separate from the EU, is doing well with a vaccination rate of 27% after approving the vaccine weeks before the FDA did in the U.S.

Senator Ted Cruz noted that the Democrats’ latest impeachment of Donald Trump even though Mr. Trump has duly departed from the White House is, “like Shakespeare, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.” Long-time NBC journalist Andrea Mitchell purported to correct Senator Cruz. On Twitter she sniped, “No, that’s Faulkner.” But of course, Cruz was right. It’s Shakespeare. Faulkner centuries later wrote a book entitled “The Sound and the Fury” which consciously and famously borrowed Shakespeare’s line, as every high schooler knows (or used to).

The bulk of seniors who are at risk from COVID have either died of the disease, survived the disease or been vaccinated against the disease. New cases are dropping quickly. Over ten percent of the overall American population has been vaccinated – over 40 million of them – and that figure is increasing at the rate of about 11 million a week. It looks like nearly everyone who wants to be vaccinated will be vaccinated by late spring. Meanwhile, drug treatments have proved increasingly effective. Most recently, the FDA approved a drug cocktail from Eli Lilly. There will come a time when COVID masks are no longer necessary.

Elon Musk wants to go to Mars. More precisely, he wants you or me to go. It’s a bad idea. Apart from provisioning and energy problems that are potentially solvable, there are three big problems with a Mars mission: Getting there, getting back and being there. All three problems center around an insolvable radiation problem. Molten material under the earth’s mantle slowly circles a solid iron core. This produces a dynamo effect generating an electrical current and a corresponding magnetic field. This magnetic field is well known, and is the basis for the simple magnetic compass that has been used for centuries.

Suppose you’re a die-hard Democrat. What do you do about such issues as: Transgenderism in women’s sports. Do you side with persons having male chromosomes but identify as women – who happen to be overwhelmingly Democrats – when they want to compete in sports against women? Or do you side with genetic women – who are also predominately Democrats – who are concerned that subjecting genetic women to competition from persons who’ve spent most of their lives developing height, girth and muscle mass as a man with male chromosomes and testosterone levels will destroy women’s sports?

Regular Beatniks know that since last summer I’ve been enrolled in the clinical trials for the Pfizer COVID vaccine. Because it’s a “blinded” study, I never really knew whether I’d received the vaccine or a placebo. The clinic called me last week to tell me that Pfizer was unblinding the study for people in my demographic (translation: old farts) if we wished. Moreover, Pfizer was offering to administer the vaccine to those whom the unblinding revealed had received the placebo. I accepted Pfizer’s offer. They then told me I’d received the placebo.

Although they aren’t exactly scientists, the media said that COVID vaccines would take years or even decades to develop and test and that they would probably be only about 50-60% effective. It’s not clear whether the media really believed their own dire predictions, or whether they were just rooting for the virus because they thought it hurt Trump and hurt America, both of which they like to see hurt. Although (or perhaps because) they’re not scientists and not very smart, they are Democrats after all.

There’s something unattractive about a mature woman marrying into the British Royal family with one of the world’s most expensive weddings, hanging out with the Queen, living in insane luxury…and then whining non-stop about the horror of her life. There’s something even less appealing when that woman accuses the Royal family of race hatred.
