Lightfoot tightens regulations on bars,

Mayor Lori Lightfoot wasn’t messing around when she warned of a rollback if young people didn’t stop their risky behavior. Now, bars, restaurants, gyms and salons are paying the price. (Snip) Arwady branded bars “one of the higher-risk scenarios,” in part because they’re a magnet for 18-to-29-year-olds, where cases are rising faster than any other age group in Chicago. “People are not only talking and socializing and having fun. They’re often needing to raise their voice, project and yell. For all of those reasons, they are broadly considered one of the higher-risk settings,” she said.

Comments:

Right, the spike is due to people raising their voices and yelling in bars, not at "peaceful" marches and protests.

Smart move. Best to stop behavior that can cause the spread of this virus while protecting the right to riot, loot, arson and murder. Note she didn't shut down drive-by shootings which will have a real impact on the covid cases. Imagine the explosion in cases if people had to get real close to murder someone.

The coronavirus pandemic has been great for streaming services as consumers quarantine at home and watch more video. The same can’t be said for regular TV. AT&T reported it lost another 886,000 cable and satellite TV subscribers in the second quarter of 2020. The telecommunications giant—the second largest TV provider in the US behind only Comcast—lost about the same number of TV subscribers in the previous quarter. Its total subscriber base has eroded 18% in the last year alone. If sports were still on TV, AT&T and other providers may have been able to temporarily slow down the acceleration of cord-cutting. But without sports, expensive TV bundles don’t offer consumers enough value.

In an email written by department chairwoman Rebecca Walkowitz, the Graduate Writing Program will emphasize "social justice" and "critical grammar." Walkowitz said the department would respond to recent events with "workshops on social justice and writing," "increasing focus on graduate student life," and "incorporating ‘critical grammar' into our pedagogy." The "critical grammar" approach challenges the standard academic form of the English language in favor of a more inclusive writing experience.

That is an easy question; they know that Biden is a pathetic loser and that Trump is going to defeat him handily in November.
