Kanye West drops presidential bid: report

Kanye West has dropped his 2020 presidential bid, according to a new report. The 43-year-old rapper's campaign has reportedly been suspended less than two weeks after he shocked the nation with a tweet that confirmed his decision to run for president of the United States in November. According to a new report from Intelligencer, a "get-out-the-vote specialist" named Steve Kramer claims West is already "out" after the Yeezy founder hired both "paid and volunteer" staff to help him secure signatures in Florida and South Carolina to get him on the ballot.

Such a "bombshell". His new CD is a wrap, and now apparently so is the "Birthday Party". Nothing like a bit of hype and publicity for the West family, who ordinarily live in splendid seclusion... "Ye" said to an interviewer he no longer supports Trump and that Biden was not "special." Let's see where the circus next appears...

Remember that he has been diagnosed and treated for manic depression / bi-polar disease. Classic example: planning a huge party with magicians and ponies one day and the next day crying and calling it off (or crying and having someone else to contact everyone that it is off). Grandiose thinking, etc. *** Just a thought, not nearly a certainty. As already pointed out, this could be a publicity stunt. I don't care about him one way or another, except as a [former?] Trump supporter.

He's nuts. And stupid. He always has been, and he always will be. His attempts to rehabilitate himself by becoming a Republican hurt us more than they helped. By association, he's made it harder for serious African-Americans who were questioning the Democrat orthodoxy. You can almost hear the disparaging conversations: "So, you're going full Kanye on us now?" What an embarrassment.

Nice Ploy to sell his new CD's... Nice Try, maybe you should have looked at how both parties prevent anyone not blessed by the party from getting on the actual ballot...not as simple as doing Rap now is it?

It takes a lot of work to run for, and be president. Kanye could not make one day of the hours put in by Trump. Trump's Chief of Staff, Mark Meadows, used to look relaxed and rested. I saw him the other day and he looked exhausted, after only a few months on Trump's schedule.

Karl Rove had his white board on Fox a while back after his big announcement came out, and pretty much said he has missed so many filing deadlines and had so many things to get done on a deadline, that it was not going to happen. Bottom line is it was all a big publicity stunt for him to sell his new record. Cashin in big time. He ain't no dummy. He ain't to candidate for President either.

I wouldn't know his "music" if it were playing on the radio right now, mainly because I'm 100% confident that I would never listen to a radio station that would play his "music". Spoiler alert: 2020 has been rough on the American psyche. Folks in the U.S. are more unhappy today than they've been in nearly 50 years. This bold – yet unsurprising – conclusion comes from the COVID Response Tracking Study, conducted by NORC at the University of Chicago. It finds that just 14% of American adults say they're very happy, down from 31% who said the same in 2018. That year, 23% said they'd often or sometimes felt isolated in recent weeks. Now, 50% say that. The survey, conducted in late May, draws on nearly a half-century of research...

U.S. shale drillers are bringing back shut in production three months after the onset of the current downturn. But steep decline rates will increasingly take hold, dragging down overall U.S. output later this year. With oil prices approaching $40 per barrel, many drillers are covering immediate operational costs. Rystad Energy estimates that “a bit more than 300,000 bpd” of shut in U.S. oil production has come back online. A total of 1.15 million barrels per day (mb/d) was shut in in April and May, and that output will “return swiftly over July and August,” JBC Energy wrote in a note.

When Michael Gutschenritter started Three Brothers Farm in Oconomowoc in 2013, he started small. As he made connections with chefs and restaurants, his business grew and his eggs became staples at local groceries and some of the area’s busiest restaurants. Last month, he doubled the number of laying hens on the farm, where they’re now producing about 2,500 eggs per day. Then in a matter of days, as restaurants shifted their business models due to the coronavirus pandemic, so did Gutschenritter. Groceries are now his main customers, and he’s working with other farmers to get products to people.

The WNBA's Seattle Storm and New York Liberty teams walked off the court during the playing of the national anthem before the season-opening game on Saturday afternoon. The two teams' planned walk-off was part of the league's season-long Justice Movement initiative—designed to fight systemic racism and violence—which the WNBA and Women’s National Basketball Players Association announced earlier in July. On Saturday, players from the Storm and the Liberty headed for their locker rooms while the national anthem played at the WNBA bubble at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Justice Gorsuch wrote a one-paragraph dissent attacking the Supreme Court’s decision to reject a Nevada church’s emergency application. The application sought an injunction stopping the Governor of Nevada from shutting down meaningful church services, even as he allowed vast assemblies at casinos, movie theaters, and other secular sites. What should be more important than a pithy dissent, though, is the Supreme Court’s – and, more specifically, Chief Justice Roberts's -- appalling behavior. It is another reminder of how desperately important it is to return President Trump to the White House.

The English department at a public university declared that proper English grammar is racist. Rutgers University's English department will change its standards of English instruction in an effort to "stand with and respond" to the Black Lives Matter movement. In an email written by department chairwoman Rebecca Walkowitz, the Graduate Writing Program will emphasize "social justice" and "critical grammar." Walkowitz said the department would respond to recent events with "workshops on social justice and writing," "increasing focus on graduate student life," and "incorporating ‘critical grammar' into our pedagogy." The "critical grammar" approach challenges the standard academic form of the English language in favor of a more inclusive writing experience.

Joe Biden has a growing double-digit lead (snip) Are there “secret Trump voters,” a discrepancy between who voters favor and who they think will win? A recent Monmouth University poll illustrated this phenomenon. Voters favored Biden over Trump 53 to 40 percent but were evenly split on who they thought would actually win the election, Trump over Biden by 46 to 45 percent. The dramatic increase of COVID-19 cases in the states of Texas, Florida, Arizona, and California this summer has many scratching their heads. The summer months were supposed to slow infections due to activities taking place outdoors and more in-home ventilation, such as windows being opened up. This hypothesis has thus far proved true in many northern states — most dramatically New York — while the South has fared much worse. There are a few possible explanations for the South’s infection spike. The first is that a widespread lack of mask-wearing is causing these increases. The national media have been quick to note that Republican governors such as Greg Abbott and Ron DeSantis
