RRepublican Utah Sen. Mitt Romney defended MSNBC host Joe Scarborough Wednesday from President Donald Trump’s accusations that he was involved in the death of former congressional intern Lori Klausutis. “I know Joe Scarborough. Joe is a friend of mine. I don’t know T.J. Klausutis. Joe can weather vile, baseless accusations but T.J.? His heart is breaking. Enough already,” Romney tweeted.

This is Romney doing what Romney does. I expect him at some point to come out for Biden. On the other hand, Trump brought this on himself. The Scarborough thing is totally unnecessary and hurts him with voters he needs most. If the election's about Trump, he loses. If the election's about Biden, Biden loses.

Aside from Mittens getting involved (the most nonevent part of this story), the real story here is what people say and yet claim to remain on the high ground. For three years Joe Scarborough has said the most vile, disgusting and untrue things about the president with absolute immunity and equally absolute support from his media brethren. But when Trump, right or wrong starts repeating a conspiracy theory about Joe, he and the media go ape-poo crazy. Why is a double standard allowed? Joe has a mic. Trump has a mic. Why should one be held to a higher standard of what kind of retort they can provide? Sure the president is the president, but Joe is a paid commentator who is the actual lead anchor on the show he's paid to comment on. Come on, Joe. What's good for the goose and all that rot.

If Mittens didn't come from Utah, I'd expect him to pull an Arlen Specter or Jim Jeffords at some point, piously exclaiming that he didn't leave the Republican Party, the party left him. He'll only do it if he decides he won't run for reelection.

Just so you all know.....we Utahns are not happy about Mittens the carpetbagger either. We had a wonderful conservative candidate, but the primary election was rigged against him. (A certain "church" has a lot of pull in this state concerning rules and procedures). Then, in the general election, we had Mittens vs a Dem. Some choice. As it was, Mittens barely beat the Dem--- many people (including all my Mormon friends) refused to vote for either candidate. Everyone had to hope for the best, but Romney is who he is. There are billboards with "Romney -- you need to resign" all over, but it looks like we're stuck with him for 4 more years.

OP, that is awesome. I foresee much borrowing of that analogy. T.J. should be outraged at Joe, because his own behavior after the event tells me he is hiding something big. I don't buy coroner's reports when it is regarding the rich and powerful. Coroners have a genetic loathing to rock the boat with truth. Natalie Wood's death is a prime example. Who among us would be accorded the treatment her husband Robert Wagner received at that time? I can guarantee that nobody would. He has still to this day, never been properly questioned about her death.

I have absolutely no respect for Joe Scarborough. If he and Mika had an ounce of decency they would have apologized for their reckless speculation after the Mueller Report came out. That said, any prosecutor will tell you that a murder case consists of proving motive, means and opportunity. Resurrecting rumors and speculation 20 years later is legally indefensible. It is also politically reckless bordering on suicidal. It is not and cannot be justified as well-deserved payback. Again, I have no respect for Joe Scarborough. A president presumptively has superior knowledge. When he says the case should be investigated, there is an implication that he knows something. If so, he should discuss it with Bill Barr. Tweeting it to the public, however, comes very close to “libel per se.” If Scarborough is not charged It also makes Trump look cruel and unhinged, not to mention not credible. All this in the middle of the most important election since the Civil War. This is not “three dimensional chess.” I pray for the pilot of the plane I am sitting in. I beg him to please stop this foolish behavior and land our craft safely.

The incoming Justice Department civil rights chief has a history of opposing civil rights prosecutions of black defendants, opposing a complaint against an African-American Democratic leader who discriminated against white voters. As an NAACP lawyer, Kristen Clarke lambasted the Justice Department for bringing a complaint against an African-American party boss in Mississippi who worked to suppress white votes, according to a federal probe. On a separate occasion, a federal oversight commission investigated claims that Clarke worked with allies at the Justice Department to quash the prosecution of the Black Panthers who menaced voters outside a Philadelphia precinct in 2008.

There’s something unattractive about a mature woman marrying into the British Royal family with one of the world’s most expensive weddings, hanging out with the Queen, living in insane luxury…and then whining non-stop about the horror of her life. There’s something even less appealing when that woman accuses the Royal family of race hatred. And the problem is that, when it comes to that left-wing diva, Meghan Markle, it’s hard to believe most of what she says. After weeks of hype, CBS finally televised Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah.
