Jonah Goldberg: Kayleigh McEnany’s Work
as Press Secretary ‘Indefensible and
Grotesque,’ ‘a Twitter troll’

Original Article

Posted By: WhamDBambam, 5/25/2020 8:51:07 AM

Conservative syndicated columnist Jonah Goldberg slammed Kayleigh McEnany for her role as White House press secretary, calling her “grotesque” on this week’s broadcast of “Fox News Sunday.” After playing a clip of McEnany sparring with reporters, host Chris Wallace said, “Unmasking is pretty routine. It’s an effort by people in an administration to find out who a masked person is. It happens in the Trump White House. It happened I think 16,000 times the year before last. What’s a crime is leaking it, but unmasking isn’t. In addition to which, I have to say that if Kayleigh McEnany had told Sam Donaldson and me what questions we should ask, that would not have gone well.”

Comments:

He fits in so well at the new FOX and responds like a trained seal to Wallace's introductory lie. Seems increasingly bitter, though.

Sorry, Jonah. But the name-calling and other ad hominems place you at the same level as the worst elements of today’s grotesque media. And it does absolutely nothing to advance your argument. If we want our society to return to civility, it starts with the person in the mirror.

Jonah, while technically correct, as more often the case of late - you missed the point. It is precisely that leaks DID OCCUR during the Obama presidency and which were deliberately used to further political aims that so inflames us. I think leaks should be prosecuted under ANY administration. Jonah, please stop using your platform to make it more likely that Dems win the next election. Or is it your goal to make sure you have something new to talk about after November?

It's always a surprise when somebody who should know better doesn't. You could see it coming in his book, Liberal Fascism. He would lay out the whole historic and factual argument for why modern Democrats are the progeny of Stalin and Hitler, and then walk it back like it was a conclusion that no sane person would ever reach. His heart is in the village of DC, "where all the women are strong, all the men are good-looking, and all the children are above average." And if we would just do what they want, we would be blessed with Utopian perfection -- in DC. The rest of us would be living in lawless squalor.

I think that Jonah is wrong about Trump, but he says what he believes and I understand how people dislike the president and his many quirks. I think Trump is doing great, but he does rub a lot of people up the wrong way. I hope that Jonah can start to appreciate the things Trump has done, such as dealing with Rocketman. (Heard anything from him at all lately? When Trump arrived Rocketman was lobbing missiles over Japan, and testing ICBMs.) Trump deserves a LOT of credit for handling that and much else. I hope he can win over the Never Trumper -- at some point Trump´s success is undeniable.

FTA: "Conservative syndicated columnist...." Three things that are becoming increasingly untrue over time. He hasn't been recognizably conservative since Trump started doing what Jonah and the Wails at NR only ever talked about. He will be syndicated less over time as his arrogant and uncorrected errors become increasingly obvious even to former cruise ship fan boys and girls. And his latest venture in subscription-based stupidity will shut down as soon as Jonah and rest of the unemployables at the Dispatch finish burning through the rest of their seed capital. It would be sad, if he didn't deserve it so.

I guess Goldberg does not like press secretaries who defend their bosses. I happen to like this a lot. The job of President includes lots of snipes. Defending against snipes is the job of any representative. When they fight, you fight back. Goldberg continues to decline as a result of NeverTrump. He was once worth a read. No more, though.

They are the Bill Kristols, and many other neo-cons you have been around the beltway for decades and are long time power brokers. I no longer believe anything that Jonah says. This is sad, since I really thought he was a good spokesman and supporter of conservative causes in years past. It is difficult to see someone you used to respect go so sadly and totally 'off the rails', and at times it seems like an old relative who is taken with dementia - they are still alive - but not the same person at all any more. Bye, Jonah. Best wishes for a recovery to sanity some day.

Bill Kristol, Mona Charen, Jonah Goldberg and now Ann Coulter . What is it with the "conservative" commentariat that they all come to hate the president who has done the most conservative good since Ronald Reagan? Is it his simple language? His rather comical hair? Or the sun lamp facials he does daily? Hey, I know the guy's imperfect as hell, but he IS NOT HILLARY CLINTON and it will take four more years to completely erase the horrific legacy of the Kenyan so these so-called conservatives need to find something else to complain about unless they're hoping for a Stacey Abrams presidency.

It seems to me that there is a group of 'Republican' media yakkers who at heart a simply losers. What they like best is when they are the losing party, out of power, but they have their comfy little bureaucratic niche from which the make a very nice living as they pontificate and complain, as the Left drives America into the Sewer of Communism. This worked as long as Obama was in power, but then President Trump got elected and actually started standing up for America and fighting back against the Swamp, the comfy ride for this bunch came to a jolting stop. Jonah, Bill Kristol, Ann Coulter and their ilk are, today, about as useful as teats on a boar. It's too bad.... If they would 'Get with the Program' they might could do some good.

The incoming Justice Department civil rights chief has a history of opposing civil rights prosecutions of black defendants, opposing a complaint against an African-American Democratic leader who discriminated against white voters. As an NAACP lawyer, Kristen Clarke lambasted the Justice Department for bringing a complaint against an African-American party boss in Mississippi who worked to suppress white votes, according to a federal probe. On a separate occasion, a federal oversight commission investigated claims that Clarke worked with allies at the Justice Department to quash the prosecution of the Black Panthers who menaced voters outside a Philadelphia precinct in 2008.

KDHE Secretary Lee Norman shared a COVID case chart with media this week, which he said shows the counties that abided by Governor Kelly’s mask mandate are ‘winning the battle.’ But he deceptively doctored the chart to justify mask mandates. (snip) At about the 15-minute mark of the recording, a reporter asks (according to Norman’s restatement of the hard-to-hear question, “If the no-mask counties would start masking, would it (blue line) drop, and would it dip down below the mask counties.” Norman said, “I think it would.” But the chart was consciously manipulated to produce that appearance by comparing the same data (cases per day) on different axes.

That is, except one: California Rep. TJ Cox.... In emails shared by the Interior Department with the House Natural Resources Committee, Cox’s staff sought two vehicle passes of the 340 available to the public for July 4. When he was told he’d have to wait in line like others, he pushed for “preferential treatment” to get them, according to a letter calling for an Interior Department investigation.

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser's quarantine dictates that anyone traveling to a "high-risk area" for "non-essential" reasons must self-quarantine for 14 days upon entering the District. Georgia is deemed "high-risk" by the mayor's office. Washington, D.C. attendees to the Atlanta funeral of the late Rep. John Lewis are exempt from following the District of Columbia's strict quarantine rules after returning home from Georgia, the D.C. mayor's office says.

This story is actually being urged upon me, and I find myself a bit conflicted. At first, I tried to find a reason to sympathize with whatever predicament the FBI Agents found themselves that caused them to kneel down. There is conflicting reporting about whether the Agents kneeled in order to minimize the potential for confrontation with a much larger group of protesters who were calling for them to do so, or whether the Agents were, in fact, demonstrating sympathy for the views being expressed by the protesters.

Speaking to reporters on Capitol Hill, Romney said he would support a measure to rename military bases honoring confederate leaders “in some cases.” When asked about President Trump’s blanket opposition to renaming bases, he replied: that’s “not where I’d be.”

Americans stopped fighting in the streets on Thursday morning as the balm of Meghan Markle’s platitudes washed over us like a healing draught of tear gas. Why send in the troops when you can send in the clowns? The Duchess of Malibu has released a video of her graduation address to the seniors of Immaculate Heart High School, the private Los Angeles school whose teachers bear at least some of the responsibility for launching the woke royal upon the gas-guzzling, meat-eating, racist public.

You’ve shrugged off Obama’s culpability. And in doing so, you’ve set yourself against liberty and justice. The scales have fallen from my eyes, and the sight before me is a sorry thing indeed. I’m addressing this to several of you whom I know in Washington, D.C. Not all of you, but some of you. I’ve known you for decades. You’re think-tankers, government officials, political journalists, and pundits. Some of you have been all these things. For a long while, I thought you were the good guys. You talked about individual liberty. Some of you identified as conservatives, others as libertarians, still others as classical liberals.

A forthcoming Australian scientific study concludes that the coronavirus causing the global pandemic contains unique properties suggesting it was manipulated in a Chinese laboratory and was not the result of a natural occurrence. Five scientists who conducted the study discovered an unusual ability of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, as the pathogen behind COVID-19 is called, to easily infect humans. The scientists said there is no sign so far that the virus can be found in other animals, including bats or the exotic wildlife sold for fresh meat at a market in the Chinese city of Wuhan....

As we reported two days ago, Joe Biden completely made no sense when he was trying to explain the Wuhan coronavirus relief bill. It was really bad and it explains why they’re afraid to have him deliver an address to Congress or do any kind of a real solo press conference, because at this point they have to be afraid this is all going to fall apart if he does anything live and this all becomes too obvious to the American people. But there’s only so long that they can hold this off. And it’s getting worse, as video today revealed. Biden was holding an event to announce the nomination

Nancy Pelosi’s top priority is to turn America into a one-party nation ruled by Democrats. Her bill HR 1 trashes the U.S. Constitution in an attempt to rig the system and make it virtually impossible to elect a Republican president or Congress again. It’s a power grab. The bill eviscerates state voting laws and forces all the states to conform to a set of rules that includes automatic voter registration. Anyone who goes to a DMV or applies for food stamps, Medicaid or other social services, or attends a public college will be automatically enrolled to vote. Noncitizens are obligated to identify themselves and opt out,

I’m probably second to none in my dislike for Meghan Markle. There’s something unattractive about a mature woman marrying into the British Royal family with one of the world’s most expensive weddings, hanging out with the Queen, living in insane luxury…and then whining non-stop about the horror of her life. There’s something even less appealing when that woman accuses the Royal family of race hatred. And the problem is that, when it comes to that left-wing diva, Meghan Markle, it’s hard to believe most of what she says. After weeks of hype, CBS finally televised Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah.
