Jonah Goldberg: Kayleigh McEnany’s Work
as Press Secretary ‘Indefensible and
Grotesque,’ ‘a Twitter troll’

Original Article

Posted By: WhamDBambam, 5/25/2020 8:51:07 AM

Conservative syndicated columnist Jonah Goldberg slammed Kayleigh McEnany for her role as White House press secretary, calling her “grotesque” on this week’s broadcast of “Fox News Sunday.” After playing a clip of McEnany sparring with reporters, host Chris Wallace said, “Unmasking is pretty routine. It’s an effort by people in an administration to find out who a masked person is. It happens in the Trump White House. It happened I think 16,000 times the year before last. What’s a crime is leaking it, but unmasking isn’t. In addition to which, I have to say that if Kayleigh McEnany had told Sam Donaldson and me what questions we should ask, that would not have gone well.”

He fits in so well at the new FOX and responds like a trained seal to Wallace's introductory lie. Seems increasingly bitter, though.

Sorry, Jonah. But the name-calling and other ad hominems place you at the same level as the worst elements of today’s grotesque media. And it does absolutely nothing to advance your argument. If we want our society to return to civility, it starts with the person in the mirror.

Jonah, while technically correct, as more often the case of late - you missed the point. It is precisely that leaks DID OCCUR during the Obama presidency and which were deliberately used to further political aims that so inflames us. I think leaks should be prosecuted under ANY administration. Jonah, please stop using your platform to make it more likely that Dems win the next election. Or is it your goal to make sure you have something new to talk about after November?

It's always a surprise when somebody who should know better doesn't. You could see it coming in his book, Liberal Fascism. He would lay out the whole historic and factual argument for why modern Democrats are the progeny of Stalin and Hitler, and then walk it back like it was a conclusion that no sane person would ever reach. His heart is in the village of DC, "where all the women are strong, all the men are good-looking, and all the children are above average." And if we would just do what they want, we would be blessed with Utopian perfection -- in DC. The rest of us would be living in lawless squalor.

I think that Jonah is wrong about Trump, but he says what he believes and I understand how people dislike the president and his many quirks. I think Trump is doing great, but he does rub a lot of people up the wrong way. I hope that Jonah can start to appreciate the things Trump has done, such as dealing with Rocketman. (Heard anything from him at all lately? When Trump arrived Rocketman was lobbing missiles over Japan, and testing ICBMs.) Trump deserves a LOT of credit for handling that and much else. I hope he can win over the Never Trumper -- at some point Trump´s success is undeniable.

FTA: "Conservative syndicated columnist...." Three things that are becoming increasingly untrue over time. He hasn't been recognizably conservative since Trump started doing what Jonah and the Wails at NR only ever talked about. He will be syndicated less over time as his arrogant and uncorrected errors become increasingly obvious even to former cruise ship fan boys and girls. And his latest venture in subscription-based stupidity will shut down as soon as Jonah and rest of the unemployables at the Dispatch finish burning through the rest of their seed capital. It would be sad, if he didn't deserve it so.

I guess Goldberg does not like press secretaries who defend their bosses. I happen to like this a lot. The job of President includes lots of snipes. Defending against snipes is the job of any representative. When they fight, you fight back. Goldberg continues to decline as a result of NeverTrump. He was once worth a read. No more, though.

In Washington DC, Many old time Republicans belong to a select group called Country Club Republicans. aka conservative beltway elites. They are the Bill Kristols, and many other neo-cons you have been around the beltway for decades and are long time power brokers. If you're a neophyte you'll be scorned by those who think they the know it all. I no longer believe anything that Jonah says. This is sad, since I really thought he was a good spokesman and supporter of conservative causes in years past. It is difficult to see someone you used to respect go so sadly and totally 'off the rails', and at times it seems like an old relative who is taken with dementia - they are still alive - but not the same person at all any more. Bye, Jonah. Best wishes for a recovery to sanity some day.

Bill Kristol, Mona Charen, Jonah Goldberg and now Ann Coulter . What is it with the "conservative" commentariat that they all come to hate the president who has done the most conservative good since Ronald Reagan? Is it his simple language? His rather comical hair? Or the sun lamp facials he does daily? Hey, I know the guy's imperfect as hell, but he IS NOT HILLARY CLINTON and it will take four more years to completely erase the horrific legacy of the Kenyan so these so-called conservatives need to find something else to complain about unless they're hoping for a Stacey Abrams presidency.

It seems to me that there is a group of 'Republican' media yakkers who at heart a simply losers. What they like best is when they are the losing party, out of power, but they have their comfy little bureaucratic niche from which the make a very nice living as they pontificate and complain, as the Left drives America into the Sewer of Communism. This worked as long as Obama was in power, but then President Trump got elected and actually started standing up for America and fighting back against the Swamp, the comfy ride for this bunch came to a jolting stop. Jonah, Bill Kristol, Ann Coulter and their ilk are, today, about as useful as teats on a boar. It's too bad.... If they would 'Get with the Program' they might could do some good.

A forthcoming Australian scientific study concludes that the coronavirus causing the global pandemic contains unique properties suggesting it was manipulated in a Chinese laboratory and was not the result of a natural occurrence. Five scientists who conducted the study discovered an unusual ability of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, as the pathogen behind COVID-19 is called, to easily infect humans. The scientists said there is no sign so far that the virus can be found in other animals, including bats or the exotic wildlife sold for fresh meat at a market in the Chinese city of Wuhan....

As countries across the globe are left grappling with the coronavirus crisis, most people are not satisfied with their leaders’ response to the outbreak, according to a new report. Citizens from just seven out of 23 countries rate their governments’ coronavirus containment measures as broadly positive, based on the “Global Crisis Perceptions” index released Wednesday by insights agencies Blackbox Research and Toluna. As far back as late November, U.S. intelligence officials were warning that a contagion was sweeping through China’s Wuhan region, changing the patterns of life and business and posing a threat to the population, according to four sources briefed on the secret reporting. Concerns about what is now known to be the novel coronavirus pandemic were detailed in a November intelligence report by the military's National Center for Medical Intelligence (NCMI), according to two officials familiar with the document’s contents. (Snip) And it paints a picture of an American government that could have ramped up mitigation and containment efforts far earlier to prepare for a crisis poised to come home.

There’s something my former CBS News colleague Lesley Stahl said a while back that continues to haunt me. It was something she says President Trump told her, off camera.... She says she told him that his constant bashing of the media was tiresome. “Why are you doing it?” she says she asked him. According to Stahl, (he) responded with this: “I do it to discredit you all and demean you all so when you write negative stories about me no one will believe you.”

September 11, 2001 changed a lot of things for a lot of people. I’m no exception. Up until that monumental event I was only marginally political; I read the news, but hadn’t yet formed any sort of cohesive ideology. If anything, I was a fairly typical college student in the South, raised to respect tradition. A decade and a half after the attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and Flight 93, another monumental event would soon rattle my worldview and drastically alter my political trajectory. And then the planes hit the towers, and my obsession with politics began.

Horse trading is the oxygen of politics; it is how politicians are persuaded to care about things that otherwise would not make their radar. Not only does it happen all the time, but it is a core feature of our political system; representative government relies on this kind of political trading to ensure a plurality of interests and needs are satisfied. Bargaining isn’t corruption—it’s policymaking. (snip) It is not corruption. It’s the warp and woof of a democratic political system.

Pope Francis on Sunday scolded countries that produce weapons for wars fought elsewhere and then refuse to take in refugees fleeing the very same conflicts. The 82-year-old Argentine pope, whose parents were of Italian immigrant stock, has made the defense of migrants and refugees a plank of his pontificate and he has often clashed over immigration policy with US President Donald Trump and populist anti-immigrant politicians in Europe.

Republicans have had their differences these past few years. Most have supported President Trump; a few have not. Some of the president’s supporters have been enthusiastic; many have not. Some of the reluctant Trump supporters have expressed reservations at certain times; many have not. But with the revelations of the last week, and the launch of a formal impeachment inquiry, we are at a new moment.

Once you understand the larger objectives, everything becomes a sequence of predictable events. The term “community policing” has been used for several years by groups advocating for radical changes to law enforcement; however, behind the innocuous phrase is really a much more serious agenda. If each community can determine the enforcement of law, then essentially all communities can eliminate the underlying law itself. Remove local enforcement of law and the local community can independently assemble a social structure separate from all other binding contracts that frame a larger societal compact. Wednesday on MSNBC, Washington Post columnist George Will predicted President Donald Trump would lose in 2020, and that voters will forget him “fairly fast.” Host Joy Reid asked, “If Republican voters listen to you and say it’s time to say no, let’s get rid of every single Republican in the Senate that they are capable of voting out, what will happen to the Republican Party? Do you foresee a time when Republicans develop amnesia about having been so solicitous of Donald Trump? What happened to that party long term?” Will said, “I’m fairly confident that Mr. Trump will be defeated in the election. The next morning, a lot of Republicans will say,

Former President Barack Obama, in a virtual town hall hosted by his foundation Wednesday, called on demonstrators to channel their anger over George Floyd's death into an opportunity to make leaders "uncomfortable" and pressure them into making real policy changes. The town hall was hosted by the Obama Foundation's My Brother's Keeper Alliance, which supports young men of color. During the event, Obama said he rejected a debate that emerged in “a little bit of chatter on the internet" about “voting versus protests, politics and participation versus civil disobedience and direct action.”“This is not an either-or. This is a both,” he said. “And to bring about real change,

Former Vice President Joseph R. I don’t think the vast majority of people think that,” he said. “There are probably anywhere from 10 to 15 percent

Mr. President, you’ve taken step one: Declaring Antifa a domestic terrorist organization. That was a brilliant move. Now it’s time for step number two: Cut the head off the snake. We’ve got to move to aggressively cut off the funding of domestic terrorism. Those who provide funding are terrorists themselves. Who is providing the funding? There are many suspects. Suspect number one is globalist billionaire George Soros and his Open Society Foundation. It starts there. Is Soros guilty? That’s way above my pay grade. That’s why we need a global investigation. And indictments and a trial.

Police Department as part of relocating some $250 million from the city’s budget to fund programs in communities of color. The United States has been rocked by widespread protests demanding justice and social reforms since Floyd, a 46-year-old black man, died May 25 after being pinned to the ground by the knee of a white police officer against his neck. Garcetti called Floyd’s death during a Wednesday evening press briefing “a modern-day lynching” and the

Gabby Orr, White House reporter for Politico, issued a string of demonstratively ill-toned questions following President Trump’s visit to St. John’s Episcopal Church, asking why he did not pray or read specific verses from his “prop” Bible. The president stoically held up a Bible upon arrival — an action that drew both outrage and criticism from progressives, celebrities, and media personalities.
