She came down with a bug two days after Christmas, and for the next week or so, Jean, a 64-year-old retired nurse, suffered through a series of worsening symptoms: a dry, hacking cough, a fever and body aches, and finally, a wheeze that rattled her lungs. . . .
But after Jean received word from her doctor earlier this month that a highly touted serology test found a sample of her blood positive for antibodies to COVID-19, she’s now convinced the official timeline is wrong — and public health officials say she may be right.

I live in Central Oregon and had a similar experience the week before Christmas. The worst for me was an overwhelming fatigue and a serious shortness of breath. I could barely make it the 10 feet from my bed to the bathroom. It lasted about 4 days and took at least a week to feel even close to normal. I also had the painful dry cough. I'm a healthy 60 year old woman with no underlying conditions and haven't had a flu bug for 3 years. This thing knocked me out.
My son and his two roommates at the University of Oregon were very sick the second week in January. One of them went to the emergency room with a fever of 105. All boys were tested for everything and the doctors had no idea what they had. My son ended up with pneumonia. I've never seen him so sick, he's lucky he wasn't hospitalized.

fta: “The amount of air travel into and out of Wuhan was enormous, probably thousands and thousands of people,” Reingold said. “It follows that there was likely multiple introductions around the world, quite possibly in December.”
Son had a horrible flu like illness mid January AFTER a roundtrip plane flight and cruise at the beginning of January. He had had his flu vaccine in October. After a week of coughing and fatigue the doctor just said "It's a virus. Go home, rest, you will be fine. We have seen a lot of this this year." I have thought since the beginning of this Covid mess he had it back then. I just think this stuff has been here since at least December. China lied. The WHO lied. I know, what a shock!!

I was ill early in the year. My loving spouse was ill the week before. She got it from work. They deal with shipments from China. I'm thinking it might have been, but then again, it might not. I know I did have a flu shot which did either nothing or everything. :) We can nitpick all we want , point is, it wasn't as bad as claimed or planned. Let's get back to it.

I also had a flu shot in the Fall and got very ill in early January. Temp. 101.5, coughing, slept for 5 days. Went to the doctor and he said it was bronchitis, then next time I was at the doctor it had turned into pneumonia. Coughed for weeks. I'd like to take an antibody test if they ever become available here. Many others I know locally were sick also.

Same story in our household. My wife and I both had the flu with the same symptoms described by others in very early January even though we both had the current flu vaccination administered in November.
Many of my work colleagues report the same. We live in rural Ohio, but do a lot of travelling through San Diego, Ca. and Atlanta, Ga.. Nearly all of our employees who were travelling by air at the end of 2019 got ill with flu-like symptoms in the November - January timeframe.

We will eventually discover evidence that this arrived in the US two to three weeks after it was recognized in Wuhan. There was too much travel allowed from Wuhan early in the virus spread and the west coast gets a lot of that travel.
