The big unresolved question of the Trump era is simple: What happens when Donald Trump’s presidency is over? Has the Republican Party really become more “populist,” or will the GOP revert to the neoliberal, neoconservative status quo?
The coronavirus has brought this question into focus like never before. Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), a supposed populist of the Left, dropped out in a humiliating and shameful surrender, right in the middle of an economic catastrophe that threatens to wipe out what is left of the working class he claims to champion.

To me the real question is whether the system will ever allow another Donald Trump The political class, deep state or whatever you want to call it was not happy that one of their own didn’t win. Even the angst toward Reagan wasn’t this great - at least he had been a governor. So there’s not been a Donald Trump for a long time (if ever). Will there be again?

And yet, we NEED more Donald Trump’s from here on out. I don’t think 8 years is long enough for the Repubs to learn “The Art of the Fight”.

The answer is yes! Now that people see that a Business person will do a much better job than a Politician running this country, it will happen again and again. The answer to will R's survive, is yes. We will survive, multiply and thrive! We do not want to go back to being under an Obama wannabe. We do not want to ever have another Democrat HOUSE! Now that people have experienced what trouble the Dem House has caused, they are going to throw them out in November! I think Trump has proven he can handle ANYTHING! He handled the Russian Hoax, a faux Impeachment and now this Pandemic. He has proven himself over and over and I think he will win in a landslide! The voters in this country are ready to take this country back to what it was before this shutdown. That will take Trump, a Republican House and Senate! Trump 2020!!

What America really needed was a Tea Party headed by a PDT. I don't believe the Repubs are getting the message. It's even worse at the state level. So many statehouse Republicans are operating like 70s era chamber-of-commerce Romney-types. I am not optimistic for the Country's long term health.

If the party allows another PT, yes. Otherwise, I suspect you'll see a third party.

If that means horrors like Romney and Burr, and such as that, I certainly hope not.

The ''system'' may try to prevent another Donald J. Trump, but we, the people, will control that! The system tried very, very hard to prevent Trump, and then to eliminate him when that failed. We are more powerful that the system, and there are more of us!

I can not, and will not, get enthused for a nominee from either wing of the Uni-Party. A Republicrat - such as Romney, McPain, any of the Bush cabal, Ruby-zero, etc. - is as detestable as Hillary, Ovomit, Cuomo, or the rest. A pox, a plague, and curses unceasing be upon Every Single One. Blind obeisance to "Party above Country" has led to this. I, like many others, am no longer willing to affix a clothespin over the nose before voting. A "TWANLOC" nominee is an abomination no matter what label is affixed to the name. No more. NEVER again. And I ain't alone. Scroom!!

There will always be two political parties thanks to public money and ballot access and listing laws. The is I fact the UNIPARTY, which many chose to deny, preferring the boob bait partisan scuffle. Until that stops, it’s rinse and repeat every election cycle. As for a businessman for President, how about that Romney guy? He’d know what to do.

America is not going to go back to work funding Green New Deal solar energy jobs and converting coal miners into computer programmers. America will go back go back to work by bringing American manufacturing home. Politicians who tell unemployed voters that "nationalism" is racist and xenophobic, and that we need open borders and greater immigration from third world countries to "do the jobs Americans don't want to do," had better think again.

Only if "Republican Establishment" means conservative, not Uniparty. Otherwise, I hope it collapses and takes the Left with it.
