Why Did New York’s Coronavirus
Death Count Just Spike?

Original Article

"It's not the people who vote that count, it's the people who count the votes." It may have been Stalin and it may have been Napoleon. It may have been Boss Tweed. Regardless of the original source, this truism describes government corruption and manipulation to perfection. Even in the face of a global pandemic and an unprecedented government-ordered economic shutdown, politicians are using their power to corrupt vital needed data regarding the Chinese coronavirus and its deadly toll on Americans. The latest escapade comes from America's "ground zero" for COVID-19 infections, New York, where the death tally just surpassed 10,000. Or did it?

To paraphrase Joseph Stalin, its not important who and how people vote but who counts to votes. Same way in deaths and the actual Chinese virus deaths.

I believe the reason the death count spiked is because the federal government pays NY extra money for Covid-19 deaths or in Biden's case, Covid-9. This reminds me of the bounty Florida pays for hunting the invasive python snake.

Would be interesting to compare cause-of-death lists from a year ago to now. Certainly people in NY die of many things, in hospitals and also alone in their homes. Last year how many died of influenza, pneumonia, etc.? Did those other causes drop off?

When death tolls were projected, compared around the world, modeled then it didn't happen it had to be corrected by 'boiler plating'. Spikes in the death toll keeps everyone paranoid, on edge along with President Trump needing to keep us calm at briefings. We are being lied to and Cuomo of NY is massaging the death toll for more money. The left would like to see America suffer until summer June or July is their target so the USA can never be resuscitated or brought back to life and kill Trumps future of re-election. That's what this is all about. The left really enjoys this little taste of socialism but with food still on the shelves.

There is an easy and obvious solution for this. Open up the rest of the Country where the case and death counts are minimal and quarantine the dem enclaves, states and cities, that have the worst problems controlling their health problems and can't seem to count very well. When they can prove, with tests that they have things under control we can start relaxing their quarantine. See you in 6 months New York.

Yes there is political manipulation of covid-19 numbers. But just like seasonal employment figures we should expect these to be adjusted next month/year as data clarifies. Mortality calculations are always re-figured and delayed - it can be years before final numbers are published and even then health scientists will argue over the results. Right now money from the feds is dependent on the number of cases and deaths so of course the politicians and their minions report inflated results. I'd like to say truth will win out but it will likely then be relegated to the back page and late night news.

In the fight between the governors and President Trump over who has the authority to re-open America, the politicians have it wrong. It’s not the politicians who have the power to re-open America, or at least the parts that are now closed. It’s individuals, families, businesses, and religious congregations. The politicians can help by eventually lifting lockdown orders and school closures. That will make it easier for individuals, families, businesses, and religious congregations to resume more normal patterns of activity without the hassle of a legal challenge.

A current global myth alleges that America under the Trump administration is not leading the world fight against the coronavirus in its accustomed role as the postwar global leader. Yet the U.S. was the first major nation to issue a travel ban on flights from China, with Donald Trump making that announcement on Jan. 31. That was a bold act. It likely saved thousands endangered by Chinese perfidy and soon became a global model. None of the ban's loud critics are today demanding it be rescinded.

President Trump has an opportunity both to defeat the novel coronavirus and to gain advantage for the United States in the competition with China for global influence, which predates both the coronavirus crisis and the Trump administration. It flared earlier in this presidency during trade negotiations. It resurfaced with Mr. describing Covid-19 as the “Chinese virus.” Now, China appears to have the upper hand. It has stopped reporting virus-related deaths, with official Chinese government numbers for Wuhan at 2,500, only a small fraction of the more than 40,000 that U.S. government-sponsored Radio Free Asia says is closer to the truth.
