Trump Managing To Put Democrats
In Political Corner

The Democrats are taking their stand on the coronavirus crisis in an untenable position. It is like building a defensive redoubt in a valley surrounded by hills in the hands of the enemy (like the French at Dien Bien Phu in 1955, as President Eisenhower warned them). Whether this is tactical stupidity by the president’s enemies or strategic genius by the president or — more likely — a bit of both, is not clear except to insiders.
Readers will recall that the Democrats charged out of the gate on the issue of taking science seriously and reacting comprehensively; the president picked up the gauntlet

Sorry, republicans are in the untenable position. They caused the economic shutdown (the MSM will say). They didn't give enough money out to keep non essential businesses open (the MSM will say). It's all Trump's fault (the MSM will say). This will be pounded over and over again until November.
We've got 40 years worth of our education system pumping out uneducated people. We've got 40 years of bringing in 3rd worlders (legal and illegal). They can all vote. See the "man on the street" interviews where people can't name who the vice president is or where North America is on a map. These people can vote.
There's power in numbers and the numbers don't work out for Americans in the long run.

Ruckus Tom: I fear you are correct. I have many friends -- -- intelligent, educated -- -- whose hatred for Pres. Trump is unabated and, for whom, citing facts is akin to committing a hate crime. Very depressing!

I am not as optimistic as Mr. Black, I hope he's right and I'm wrong.
FTA:President Trump has acted wisely in leaving these decisions with the governors and creating conditions where Democratic governors like Gavin Newsom in California and even Andrew Cuomo in New York will have to break ranks with the national Democratic leaders.
No, they don't have to break ranks, they are going to keep their lockdowns and expect a federal bailout, which will be padded to get a federal bailout of underfunded state pension systems, long a holy grail of the unionized public sector. Cocaine Mitch has now said he's open to a state bailout (with conditions for now), but that's the first step in the familiar RINO surrender playbook.

I have a feeling that something big and significant is about to happen.
We've got Covid-19, John Durham, Michael Flynn and this this ridiculous shutdown - which I see as a separate issue from Covid-19.
Small detail of the last government shutdown that I've not forgotten is that in order for the President to initiate any Reductions in Force of the Federal workforce there needed to be a plan in place for 30 days prior, or something like that. I believe that plan was prepared.
I'm somewhat encouraged that Trump might be ready to start an avalanche right now.

#4, the question I have is how are the blue state citizens going to react when the red state next door is open, free and its economy is soaring? It should result not just in street protests but in the demonrats paying a price come November.

What do we do about the fear? We are a nation of fearful citizens. Listen to people on social media. They are fearful of getting the virus. They are fearful of passing the virus to others. Our business leaders are fearful of opening too soon lest they be tarred as a "hot spot" or worse, sued when someone gets the virus at their place of business. Oh, you're a hot spot, we're going to shut you down. Business people are fearful of opening with the new restrictions. Only 50 people or less in your establishment, They must remain 6 feet apart. Only two people to an elevator. Plexi-glass shields must be put up. Everyone must wear a mask. Fear, fear, fear. I fear it's the fear that our country needs to overcome. Yes, "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself" never rang so true.
When we finally begin to fear the collapse of our economy on a grander scale, then some people will pull their big boy panties on, but will it be too late? That's what I fear.

To #6's question, #8 gives the answer. Watching other social media (Facebook, Nextdoor, etc.) the majority of comments are from people asking how to report their neighbors, approving comments of police arresting surfers, etc. Those-who-think-they-are-our-betters have learned that it is easy to control a population with fear, and their media lapdogs are willing to help. And the media will report virtually every post-reopening death as caused by the reopening, even though the "15 days to flatten the curve" was originally sold as a way to spread out the spread, not reduce the overall number. The media will report as if the shutdown could actually eradicate the virus, which of course is impossible. But this is now the narrative - COVID-1984.

I just came back from an unprotected foray to a big box home improvement center in suburban Houston,Texas, and the preponderance of customers and every single employee I encountered was wearing a mask, beginning with the guy slathering the shopping carts at the door...while he also controlled store access. Of course, they're not scared...just wearing a mask to ward off th e bogeyman virus. Doesn't everyone?
Trump's problem isn't the virus, which is common to all political stripes. His problem is he bought into the hype while initially trying to minimize it. Then he got plowed under by those silly models loaded by fake data and interpreted by experts with lots to gain from a global pandemic. Digging himself out is not a simple matter. Suddenly he's the Al Haig "I'm in charge" guy invoking the Defense Production Act to force manufacture of needless ventilators, when the governors are the ones with the levers of power, and they are pushing and pulling them because that's what the public demands, egged on by neverending propaganda, including the medicos standing next to and praised by PDT, wherever one turns.
Whoever "wins" politically, the losers will be the American public...and they have lost more than they know already.
Regardless, stay optimistic, my friends. It's in the bag.

Don't want to be a nit-picker, but the French defeat at Dien Bien Phu took place in 1954, not '55. If one wants to refer to history, get the date right!

Hope for the best (#1), but plan for the worst (#2).
Too many among the populace have proved (proven?) to be mindless sheep. At least we have a good idea of who will take The Mark of the Beast when the time comes.

Once the Red States start getting into gear Trump will point to the Blue states still in the parking lot expecting a free tow.
He'll say no & they should just turn the ignition key.
As the Red States pull further ahead on the highway the pressure on dem to turn the key will increase & once they realize that Trump & GOP will not be giving dem a tow. Thus they will have to turn the key or face a growing hostile voters which the DNC can't save dem from.
Drive or die.
