A woman in New Orleans, La., died while she was waiting for the results from a coronavirus test after she experienced symptoms of the novel virus, or COVID-19, her boyfriend claims. Natasha Ott, 39, died on Saturday. Her boyfriend, Josh Anderson, 40, said in a viral Facebook post that he found her body in the kitchen of her apartment after going to check on her.(Snip) But Ott’s condition continued to deteriorate. She tested negative for the flu and eventually received a coronavirus test about a week after falling ill, on March 16. She was reportedly told she would receive the results in about five days.

Read the comments below the article. Cover this pretty well. This story is based upon nothing more than her boyfriend’s Facebook post. Did dopey hysteric anti-Trumper Leland Vittert report this?

I don't believe this story. If this woman was critically ill, for whatever reason, she should have / would have gone to a hospital for treatment.

Fox News seems to delight in joining the national enquirer mentality of sensationalism

Fox News continues to disappoint. It’s becoming like the Daily Mail.

This is sad however, the test does not cure or make a change in treatment.
If someone has symptoms and they are getting worse they should see a doctor and be admitted to a hospital. If the patient did nothing that's on them. Maybe onset of extremely severe symptoms was very sudden and no one had time to do anything. If the doctor didn't follow up, that's malpractice. Did she have complicating conditions?
The most useful purpose of the test is to verify that someone is free of the virus and to be sure the test needs to be repeated.

I am sorry she died and we should pray for her soul - I will. But if you are sick who waits for a test? Go to the dang hospital.

I mildly resent this article. While I'm terribly sorry for this woman's death and for her boyfriend's loss the injection of the drama concerning the test results is terribly selfish and manipulative on the part of Fox News.
There is some important information here, concerning her symptoms and how we should address them if we experience them ourselves or in a loved one. But the delay in test results didn't contribute to anything.
It's just plain wrong to focus on that IMHO.

So? My late mother died while the earth was spinning on its axis. But neither one caused the other.

For the longest time, Fox News would start with "The Big Story" and that pretty much sums up what I think the media has become - vying for 1st place no matter the cost.

If she was that sick why wasn't she in the hospital? Sounds pretty weird to me, and at first blush, I do not buy it. The test has nothing at all to do with the treatment.

This sounds more like sensationalism rather than reporting. Is there evidence besides this Facebook account? Has any of this been verified? I am reminded a decade or so ago of a young Palestinian boy being 'gunned down' by Israeli sharpshooters that turned out to be completely staged, by the PLA As were many funerals. In another case, over there, the pall bearers dropped the body, which promptly got up and jumped back into the coffin.
Has Fox News degenerated this far?

How would her treatment have been different? There is no specific drug for the disease just support for the symptoms. Those are the same no matter what the cause aren't they?

She should have gone to the hospital. It is her own fault for not paying attention to her illness. She had ample opportunity to test sooner too. If anything, she was selfish for not testing early because she could have exposed many at risk HIV/AIDS patients.

Her death is tragic but people (the media?) seem to think that testing positive = a bed in a hospital, it doesn't. Chances are she would have been sent home even if they knew she had the virus.
