Joe Biden has solidified his position as the Democratic front-runner after recent primary wins -- but still has some personal issues to work on, "Real Time" host Bill Maher said Friday night. During the show's panel discussion, Maher began by praising Biden for his remarks on the coronavirus outbreak following President Trump's much-criticized Oval Office address. (Snip) The HBO star pointed to the altercation Biden had with the Detroit autoworker over his stance on guns and when Biden threatened to "slap" the worker. "His big go-to is, 'You wanna fight?' Quit trying to convince Democrats that Biden is nuts. They know he's nuts and they're counting on it. The plan now is to put Hillary in the veep slot and push Slo Joe out of office after a respectful period. It gets Hillary the job she could never have gotten at the top of the ticket, and it gets her a veep who doesn't have to stand for popular election before taking office.

This is the first time I have ever seen my dem friends & coworkers admit to being embarrassed by a candidate. They will not vote for Sanders due to his policies and feel Joe is definitely nuts. They're disappointed in their party, to say the least. It's interesting to watch what goes on in their minds faced with this ridiculous choice. I secretly enjoy it.

A police department in Oregon is urging people that if they’ve run out of toilet paper, it’s not worth calling 911. The Newport Police Department posted the surprising message on its Facebook page as shoppers across the country have flocked to supermarkets to stock up on supplies amid the coronavirus pandemic that has put much of the world on edge. “It’s hard to believe that we even have to post this. Do not call 9-1-1 just because you ran out of toilet paper. You will survive without our assistance,” NPD wrote. (Facebook) The department then offered numerous alternatives if people

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a four-time cancer survivor, turns 87 on Sunday. That’s it. That’s all you really need to know for the 2020 presidential election if you’re a Democrat or left-leaning moderate. “RBG is 87” is the slogan to emblazon on the buttons, bumper stickers, ball caps and other campaign merch in your effort to win the votes of sulky progressives now threatening to sit out the election since their favorite candidate is unlikely to get the party’s nomination for president. Liberal icon Ginsburg is not only by far the oldest justice now serving, she’s also the

Andrew Gillum's carefully cultivated image as a rising political star and God-fearing family man came crashing down after he was found in a Miami Beach hotel room with two men and baggies of suspected meth. The former Tallahassee, Fla., mayor was in Tallahassee on Monday to energize college voters at Florida State and Florida A&M University, where his political ambitions were born. But four days later, his well-publicized effort to register a million voters ahead of Election Day was in major doubt, along with his once-promising political career. After the news broke, the normally visible Gillum shrunk from public view

The day after colleges across the country suspended classes over fears of the coronavirus, Abigail Lockhart-Calpito, a freshman from San Antonio, ran across the Harvard campus trying to get answers. Her lectures were being replaced by online classes. Her residence hall was being cleared out. She, like thousands of others in her shoes, had a million questions: What was going to happen to her financial aid? Where would she stay? What about her credits? The abrupt disruption of the semester caused widespread concern and a feeling of chaos on campuses across the country. Administrators saw spring break as a chance

SACRAMENTO — Everyone knows that living in California comes with a price: Its residents pay some of the nation’s highest taxes on the money they earn, the gas they pump and the clothes they wear. But for the moment, at least, it appears voters have had enough. The defeat Tuesday of the largest borrowing proposal in the history of California schools — $15 billion for repairs — has opened the question of whether Californian voters put a temporary halt to the growth of government debt because of the unsettled political scene, or because they are on the cusp of a

In October 2014, Ezekiel Emanuel published an essay in the Atlantic called “Why I Hope to Die at 75.” Because Emanuel is a medical doctor and chair of the University of Pennsylvania’s department of medical ethics and health policy, as well as a chief architect of Obamacare, the article stirred enormous controversy.Emanuel vowed to refuse not only heroic medical interventions once he turned 75, but also antibiotics and vaccinations. This follow-up to my March 12 coronavirus piece comes with the same important caveats, important enough that I’m stating them up front: I’m not here to alarm anyone, and I am not here to scoff. I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I do know what our experts are saying, and this is me reporting what the experts are saying. Andrew Slavitt, Barack Obama’s former acting administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), is quoting experts who say more than one million Americans are already doomed because the “virus was not contained.”

First of all, Wuhan is a place and not a race, and to identify the coronavirus by its place of origin, like naming the Ebola Virus for a river in Zaire, is not racist or xenophobic — it's merely accurate. There is no racism or xenophobia in labeling an infection "Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever" or calling something "Lyme Disease" after a nearby town in Ohio. What calling this latest virus the Wuhan Virus is is a reminder of the multiple contagions China has spawned and released on an unsuspecting world.

Never let it be said that Bernie Sanders isn't doing his level best to spread fear and panic across America. At a doom-and-gloom press conference today, Sanders pleaded with Trump to pay for everyone to be tested for COVID-19, demanded paid leave for all, and generally transplanted his political agenda onto the coronavirus response that the U.S. should make. How convenient. But most of all, Sanders is telling Americans that they are in grave danger because the president has fallen down on the job. And the ultimate cost of Trump's incompetence will be hundreds of thousands of dead.

In retrospect, Florida dodged a bullet. Andrew Gillum, the corruption-tinged left-wing mayor of Tallahassee, who less than two years ago darn near got elected goveror of Florida, based on a glowing 'making history' press narrative, has been caught naked, in a hotel room with a gay "escort," barfing over a toilet, and too inchoate to answer questions from cops, who were called in to hose out a $220 a night Miami hotel room of meth baggies. I try to keep around enough reserves that I don't need to worry if I can't buy for two weeks, but yes, I'm running out. I understand that people fear being in quarantine for two weeks or a month over WuFlu fears, and wanting their personal supply to last. "People can get tested according to a priority structure, and it's not enough testing. It's just as simple as that," de Blasio said, later claiming that the city has been "pleading" with the federal government for additional testing. "Here's the reality. This is a war-like situation. In many ways, the debate will vary from all others held since last summer. Instead of a large and diverse field of candidates, only two old, white men remain. And instead of testing their styles and one-liners in front of a crowd, this meeting will lack an audience. With so much stripped away, the candidates will either shine or fail.
