The Cleveland Clinic has developed a coronavirus test that will be able to deliver results in just eight hours. It will be significantly faster than tests available at other US public health laboratories, which take between two to seven days to confirm results. Once the medical center, based in Ohio, received approval from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on March 2 to begin manufacturing a test, it reportedly took just nine days to produce the kit.(Snip)'We will essentially be performing the same test that's used by the [CDC] after we complete our validation process,'

I was just reading a website from a test manufacturer that makes a test that takes 15 minutes. It works by marking two different antigens in a drop of blood. It detects even if you have fought off the virus and never exhibited symptoms. A large percentage, according to the manufacturer.

I wonder if this is happening more quickly because President Trump cancelled a bunch of regulations?

PCR tests take time. Have to thermal cycle the stuff to replicate the RNA up to a detectable level. They need a good antibody test if you really want fast. Create a good antibody in large quantity (non-trivial !!), attach it to either a color change or light emitting molecule, then attach to a gel substrate. Wash the test fluid over the gel, it will either light up or change color, as designed. The common pregnancy test is like this. It uses monoclonal antibodies to hCG, found in urine of pregnant women, changes to blue. A well known concept, but takes time and buckets of money to develop, typically not cost effective for these disease tests, at least so far. Perhaps someone will take the time, but they never have for just about any other disease, many others far more deadly.

Regardless, only the very sick will be tested, not the general walking-around mildly- or asymptomatic public. This will vastly exaggerate the prevalence, morbidity, and mortality data. The panic continues...

Just one more effort to defeat this president. Sorry. It underscores how amoral the left is... anything to advance their agenda... innocent death means nothing to them. Abortion might be a good example... I used to be disgusted by the left. It's actually turned into loathing and... not hatred... but getting there! Get out there and be conservative. And bold.

#2, that's what's been a huge problem, the previous administration had too many rules and regulations that forced companies to need approval from the government entities, like the CDC, before they could start working on test kits. Trump needs to hammer this point home, as Biden is claiming there should have been millions of test kits out weeks ago. Yes, he and the Democrats are playing politics with people's lives, and the stock market which affects their pensions and retirements.

Sorry. Test cannot be used. Not approved by the FDA. Deep State has nixed all tests until Trump is defeated.

Now that the number of new people infected with the coronavirus in China is slowing down, the country's Communist Party is ratcheting up threats against the West, with a particularly nasty warning about access to life-saving drugs aimed at the United States.(Snip)The article also claimed that China could impose pharmaceutical export controls which would plunge America into "the mighty sea of coronavirus." The disturbing threats made during a global pandemic as well as the scary consequences if that threat becomes real highlight just how tight China's grip is on the global supply chain. RUSH: Well, lo and behold, they have done it. The Democrats have come out officially opposing Trump’s travel ban. By the way, don’t you like the fact that Trump did not include the U.K. because they’re getting out of the European Union — hee-hee-hee-hee — Brexit, don’t you know. So Democrats oppose travel ban. A No Ban Act has been introduced by representative Judy Chu, Democrat, California, cosponsored by 219 House Democrats. The bill will roll back all of Trump’s travel restrictions and it will require that Trump only issue a restriction when required to address a compelling government interest.
