A 3-year-old boy was left behind by his class and his teachers while on a school field trip last week and his mother was notified days after the incident took place.
Karter Williams, a 3-year-old student in the Houston Independent School District (HISD) Head Start program at Thompson Elementary in Houston, Texas, was on a field trip with his class to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo last Friday when he became separated from his classmates and teachers. It is unclear how long Karter was wandering around for on his own.

HISD is a taxpayer funded day care center. 3 years old? Cradle to grave, for sure.

If the mom went home without her baby the government would seize her children and place them in foster homes.
But when the government ,or an extension of it in this case, leaves a three year old behind they will continue to be left in charge of children.
They had one job and blew it.

HISD are a bunch of idiots to take 3 year olds to the rodeo!
That should be a family activity, or at least wait until they are old enough to actually remember the trip.

I don't understand this. Was the teacher the only one in charge of keeping track of the kids? With 3-year olds, there should be enough chaperones to have a person in charge of two or three kids, at the most.
I used to be the designated chaperone for ONE particularly difficult 6 year old at my son's school. I never let him out of my sight.

HISD states that he was found within minutes and reunited with his school. If that were true, he would have been reunited with his classmates and put on the correct bus. He was not found within minutes. The teachers' union will protect the teacher. Did no one even do a head count on the bus? Thank goodness a good samaritan took the time to notice the child and get him to rodeo authorities.

3 year olds... in school... and on a field trip? Herding one 3 year old is an unenviable task much less a dozen + of the little balls of energy and distraction. Whoever thought this was a hood idea needs to be looking for a new job.

The mother is in tears but the impish kid looks like he had the time of his life. I would say he ditched the boring group on purpose to find adventures of his own. The teachers should be canned.

Pretty incompetent. But math is hard, especially counting up to 25 or so.

A three year old in school? That's so by five the boy can decided on his gender than join the left's socialist agenda. Simple, get them while they're young. This is stupid a child that young on a field trip.

"Said Williams: “For you to be so careless, irresponsible, nonchalant … I honestly don’t think that she should be an educator or someone to protect children.” She's right!

Luckily it occurred at a stock show and not a drag queen bar.

If Karter was like my younger son, his curiosity lead him to wander off and continue to wander. I once took a pack of 8 year old Cub Scouts to visit an aircraft carrier. The other mother who was supposed to go couldn’t make it at the last minute. Those little boys hit that deck and scattered like mercury out of a dropped thermometer. Open bays everywhere and boys running hither and yon. We all survived. They, better than I. I was a wreck.
Karter obviously survived, the cluckers notwithstanding.

Read the article. He was joined up with another group from the same school and transported back to school. “Missing” for minutes.
His mother looks and sounds like a real piece of work.
Those who read the article will find that this 3 year old was part of the school’s Head Start Program, which starts kids at age 3. Already reading at 3, I’d have loved something like that...

Whoa! Look at what Head Start is all about. For children from impoverished families. Then have a look at Mrs. Williams and their home.
Head Start, a federal program that supports early learning and development for nearly 1 million children in poverty and their families, is the nation's largest preschool program. ... Most families today need full-day childcare, but roughly half of Head Start programs offered only part-day services in 2016.
So it is not educational. It is child care. We support it.

Any and all responsible adults on that trip, and I use the term loosely, should be, at this moment, looking for a job.

Actually, #17, my wife was similar, went a couple of days to kindergarten before 1st grade. She remembers hating it because all the other kids were so far behind her and she was "treated like a baby", stopped going after a few days, did better at home. I had a similar situation, about three days at 'kindergarten' then out, bored to tears, wanted to be home reading my books and the newspaper.

Think of all the fun and safe outings we could have with the incredible blessing of "free universal day care", as proposed by our fabulous democrat candidates for president.

I think someone needs to find a new profession. However, knowing that this is a public school, IF the teacher gets disciplined at all, it will be nothing more than a slap on the wrist.
