When a man got out of his car on a crowded bridge between Kansas and Missouri and began shooting, Master Sergeant David Royer told his fiancée to call 911, hung up the phone, and ran over the gunman with his Chevy. Royer was driving on Centennial bridge Wednesday morning when a man jumped out of his car and began shooting indiscriminately at cars, the New York Times reported. Royer, who served in the army for 15 years, told reporters Thursday that “I was shocked that it was happening and the adrenaline took over and, with the military training that I’ve received, I took appropriate action and took out the threat.”

I think we ought to deputize LOTS of ex-military personnel, give them training and certain immunities, to encourage and allow them to be the emergency responders in these types of situations. Good on ya, Sir, and again - thank you for your service to our nation. We need and love you.

In combat type competitive shooting matches, smaller caliber guns are rated Minor caliber and larger caliber handguns are rate Major caliber, with scoring higher for the heavier caliber guns. One saying among folks in this sport is "All cars are Major Caliber", a humorous way of meaning that if threatened while in your car, remember that it has a powerful potential to be used as a defensive weapon. Well done, Master Seargent. Major caliber, indeed.

39, often when there is a delay in identifying the shooter, he turns out to be of a particular religion...and there has been no FBI statement that the act of terror was not done by a terrorist. I'm speculating here, but why not speculate?

If local governments are having trouble with unruly citizens and the police are outgunned or out manned, they should take advantage of the part of the second amendment that mentions a well regulated militia and call out that militia, just like in the good old days.

Good driving. I hope he isn't arrested and charged with 1st degree murder, which would have been his fate had this happened in Saint Cuomo's NY where every thug and felon is entitled to anything they want and never have to pay for their crimes and never be jailed either (closing prisons & no bail rule).

A Florida police chief on Monday encouraged residents to open fire on violent looters who try to enter their homes. “I would tell them, if you value your life, they probably shouldn’t do that in Polk County. Because the people of Polk County like guns, they have guns, I encourage them to own guns, and they’re going to be in their homes tonight with their guns loaded,” Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd told reporters during a news briefing.

Joe Biden hasn’t been thinking things through, though that’s a common theme. Just yesterday, he blamed the interviewer for his racist “you ain’t black” comment, if that gives you an idea of how things have been going lately. He was talking to CNN, so that meant no push back ensued. Meanwhile, in a public comment yesterday, Biden had this to say. See if you can spot the problem. (Snip) Biden today, per pooler @JTHVerhovek : " on the day I am officially elected, before I'm sworn in -- even though he'll probably contest we didn't win -- I'm going to immediately have to be on the phone with key European and Asian leaders to tell them America's back."

The kerfuffle over how much authority the president has vis-à-vis state governors boiled over at a recent White House coronavirus briefing. Missing in the debate is the conundrum that became apparent in August 2005, during Hurricane Katrina. During a critical week, from two days before Katrina, to five days after, there arose a conflict the likes of which had never been seen in American disaster governance: an open clash between the president on one side and the Louisiana governor and the mayor of New Orleans on the other.

That goes all the way back to Dr. Martin Luther King," he said. "But on the other hand, we have to go to the root cause of people's protesting that leads to violence, whether it is agitated violence or just violence because people feel frustrated and bitter."

Bush’s voice has the singular power to reach moderate Republicans and Republican-leaning independent voters, freeing them to walk away from the Party of Trump.
