Democrat ‘Gig’ Law Punishes
California’s Disability Community
for Pursuing American Dream

Original Article

California Democrats’ infamous ‘gig’ law, AB 5, took effect at the beginning of this year, and now thousands of entrepreneurs, including many with disabilities, are now left fighting for their livelihoods. Thanks to their handiwork, it is now more difficult, if not nearly impossible, to work as an independent contractor in the state.AB 5 isn’t just about gig workers utilizing work platforms like Uber and Lyft. It’s much broader—and much more dangerous. Workers, entrepreneurs, and job creators in hundreds of occupations—including community theaters, event planning, marketing, and public relations, freelance writing, health care, and many more—have been negatively impacted, losing their careers and much-needed flexibility.

Comments:

How come this hasn't been national news? It frightens me because Democrats now have control of the Maine Legislature and the Governor's office. They're passing all sorts of insane laws, including taxing mileage driven in cars and now they're considering taxing Netflix and Hulu. Soon, they'll be taxing wells and rainwater that falls on private property.

Note regarding original poster's comment: Democrats around Charlottesville, Virginia and elsewhere, already have thought of taxing rainfall. Rain that falls on impervious surfaces such as roof tops and driveways creates a "runoff cost" that must be offset by taxing property owners.

Further proof that the Democrat party should be outlawed and it's former officials barred from public office while we still have a country.

Everyone thought it was fun to ridicule California for its increasingly fascist laws and taxes. Well guess what? That creeping communism is starting to creep into other states. No wait...it's already creeped across the entire country. Washington, Colorado, Virginia, Maine! Just to name some of the more obvious ones. Remember those maps of Europe and Asia that had giant red arrows showing communism sweeping across the continents. Well time to show the same kind of map with red arrows across the U.S. They're brazenly on the move and it's past time to not only hold the line but start pushing back to retake those states. This is no joke. It's war.

The millions of Conservatives in California do not support this, so it is not reasonable to blame Californians for something that is Democrat-creep. No one in California - even the flaming liberals we are trying to get rid of - can cause your legislators, the ones you voted for (or like us, didn’t vote for) to enact these punishing laws.

Dems wreck everything they touch. Remember, it is all about control, the opposite of freedom. They despise freedom, somehow seeing people making free choices enrages them, and they have to stop it.

In our area the $15/hour wage will soon apply to severely disabled workers who are sometimes given repetitive job tasks so they can feel useful. The thrift stores and other entities that employ such people say it will wreck the programs for the disabled. Dems prefer people to be helpless and entirely dependent on the government.

Kastanies, Greece - Syria’s official news agency said two of its warplane were shot down by Turkish forces inside northwest Syria, amid a military escalation there that's led to growing direct clashes between Turkish and Syrian forces. SANA says the jets were targeted over the Idlib region, and that the pilots ejected with parachutes and landed safely. These confrontations have added to soaring tensions between Turkey and Russia, which support opposing sides of the Syrian civil war. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday announced his country had opened its western borders to migrants and refugees hoping to head into the European Union. The United Nations said Sunday that at least

By all accounts, Soleimani was the world’s most dangerous terrorist, responsible for the deaths of thousands. The number of people shedding tears for the leader of Iran’s infamous Quds Force is very limited, and most assuredly, Carlson was not mourning Soleimani’s death.

Mrs. Biden, wife of former Vice President Joe Biden, insists on being referred to as “Dr.” Biden. Her Twitter handle is @DrBiden. The press has largely acquiesced: Even though it has persistent trouble referring to actual pediatric neurosurgeon Ben Carson as “Dr.” Ben Carson, it is rare indeed to ever see a reference to Jill Biden without “Dr.” preceding her name. There’s nothing wrong with being proud of one’s educational achievements, of course. But Mrs. Biden’s unrelenting insistence on being called “Dr.” sometimes leads to confusion.
