President Donald Trump is locked in a tough reelection battle, yet the Republicans looking to succeed him are already circling.
They’re visiting early primary states, reaching out to major donors, and — in one instance — even running commercials in Iowa. But perhaps the most overt display of ambition is on display this week here at the Conservative Political Action Conference, a rite of passage for White House aspirants eager to audition before thousands of activists whose support can be critical down the line.
By 2024, Trump will appoint the next President...

There won't be another DJT in my lifetime, but you can bet for the next generation R's will be campaigning as DJT Republicans. And then let us down like so many in the past.

Actually, we have some very good Republicans that would carry the torch lit by President Trump. He has made it fashionable to be a Republican, indeed, a conservative, and emboldened some of them to fight.
I like Cruz, for one. He would also be good on the Supreme Court. There are others who will be ready in 2024 and we will field a good line up of candidates, unlike the democrats! We must not allow another democrat to be elected for several generations, if then...

Don't forget Scott Walker...he's been seen out and about lately and did a good job chairing a panel at CPAC yesterday. He has always been good speaking with no notes and seems very comfortable in his skin.
He never seems to be pandering. He's very genuine..

My bet is Donald Trump Jr will be the guy to follow dad's footsteps. With Kimberly Guilfoyle as the potential next first lady, it would be a slam dunk. GO FOR IT!!!

Perhaps if We the People pray hard enough, God of the unexpected will raise up a worthy successor to DJT just as he brought him out of nowhere to lead us?

Politico is NeverTrump; I cannot read their prognostications until after the next election. They are the liberal's version of NRO. Not cold and not hot. Unpalatable.

After President Trump, we will be back to Rinos, hands across the aisle, the Washington Generals forever losing to the Globetrotters. I shudder to think of this. There is not a single Reboolican who will fight back, who will bite back.

Ron DeSantis is doing a great job in difficult Florida. Josh Hawley is young but appears to have guts and brains along with a decent demeanor. We don’t have to look only at retreads. I do not trust Nikki Haley.

Agree with #2. With all the corrupt big-money in our government it will be almost impossible to get someone that is looking out for the United States, and its people. Somebody that would actually govern this country. We will end up with a corrupt Commie globalista Democrat or a closet RINO who defers to all things Democrat.
Wait and see. The Republicans seem to have plenty of options.

I am with # 5. Scott Walker is top-notch, and he showed his mettle by standing up to the leftist loony tunes. I really hope he has a political future, perhaps in some visible position in a second Trump administration. Gov. Ron DeSantis in FL is also a real comer.
# 12, please don't be pessimistic. Our president has been teaching Republicans how to fight.

We conservative Texans shall see, #2. Ted has been very supportive of our good President and I praise God for it. However, as the Bushes maneuver to launch Pierce and George P. into office (and higher office) then we will know. There will be black and white choices as to which team every elected Republican is on at that time. I pray Ted will reject the Goldman-Sach’s loving, open borders GOPe and be our bold conservative champion.

I forgot to say Governor Ron DeSantis has really been outstanding in Florida. He, like President Trump, is willing to pay a price to do the bold and right things.

I think a Rick Scott/Tom Cotton team would be dynamite! Scott was a Great Governor of my state, Florida). He would be a great President. Tom Cotton would then have eight years to get ready to take over the Oval Office. We don't want to make the same mistake made when George Bush retired and there was NOBODY ready to step up. I love Mike Pence, but after Trump, he just kind of fades into the Wallpaper. He is a quiet, gentle person. We need a scrappy person who won't wilt the first time the Democrats go after him. I think Rick Scott could handle it!

Cotton seems very genuine and smart, Cruz.... generally good, but I worry about Bush 01 following Reagan and undoing a lot of his work. Certainly I like Walker, and I do NOT trust Nikki Haley.

Sen. Cotton and Marsha Blackburn for VP would be a fine ticket. Like others, I don't trust Vikki.
