It's the most powerful greenhouse gas known to humanity, and emissions have risen rapidly in recent years, the BBC has learned. Sulphur hexafluoride, or SF6, is widely used in the electrical industry to prevent short circuits and accidents. But leaks of the little-known gas in the UK and the rest of the EU in 2017 were the equivalent of putting an extra 1.3 million cars on the road.

The dirty secret is that 99.99999999% of the warming, when there is any, is from the SUN!!!!!!!
Just read a scientific article last week indicating that the sun is going into a down cycle with sun spots / activity that could last until 2050, which indicates cooling until 2050 - so the morons on the "green new deal" will claim they are having an impact.

Best example -- look at the diesel generator that is powering an electric car recharging station!

#4 exactly. The Left wants to decide who gets health care and who can heat his home.

When will these green idiots learn that you don't get something for nothing. Thermodynamics is a truly zero-sum game. See Reply No. 3.

#4,#5 - yup. And the state-controlled utilities will tell you how warm your house can be in the winter, and how cool it can be in the summer.

I love global warming. Plants need CO2, the warming is not man-made to any measurable degree, and J Epstein didn't kill himself.

NOTHING.

So many questions that are not asked
1) do y’all warmists heat your homes? Cook? Travel? Order from Amazon?
2) should earth’s temperature remain the same or should it fluctuate?
3) in determining the ‘correct’ temperature, which species are favored?
3.5) who says glaciers weren’t meant to shrink? Or grow?
3.5)) would you have preferred that the dinosaurs had stuck around? What’d they do wrong?
4) when y’all are satisfied with the temperature you’ve chosen for the rest of us, will you shut up?

Any attempt to ban SF6 would seriously harm our military. It's used in things like radar waveguides, torpedo propulsion systems, and underwater acoustic countermeasures. But for the greenies, that's a feature, not a bug.

#13, fortunately, I have chosen to live away from that sort of lunatics. So, we can get plastic bags, or paper bags at most grocery stores, and plastic bags most other places.
Perhaps you should move to Free America.

So does the BBC want the electrical industry to stop preventing short circuits and set fire to all the buildings? What would you do, BBC? Show us how it is done.

CO2, SF6, Methane. Greenhouse gases all per the definition of greenhouse gases. BUT the most prevalent "greenhouse gas" in the atmosphere by a huge measure is good old H2O, That's water vapor for those who flunked chemistry. The surface of the earth is 75% water covered. If the Chicken Little climate alarmists could just find a way to outlaw evaporation the whole climate problem would be solved. And summers in Central and South Texas would be a damn sight more tolerable.

it's also used to diecast magnesium - to prevent it from blowing up. SF6 is off the charts compared to CO2 as an infrared absorber; fortunately, it is pretty rare. none of the uses of SF6 are frivolous - all necessary for our way of life.

I've kept a shaker of sulphur hexafluoride on my spice rack for many years.
It really perks up broccoli and spinach.
