Longtime influential conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh announced on his show Monday he was diagnosed with "advanced lung cancer," a shocking announcement in which he said he will miss shows for treatment. “This day has been one of the most difficult days in recent memory, for me, because I’ve known this moment was coming,” Limbaugh said. “I’m sure that you all know by now that I really don’t like talking about myself and I don’t like making things about me… one thing that I know, that has happened over the 31-plus years of this program

He can afford the best care and hopefully he will get it. We are fortunate that he will not have to rely on obamacare for his treatments. He would be a goner for sure if that were the case.

I'm sick over this. Rush is like a big brother to me. I'm thankful to have been able to listen since 91 during the years raising my kids. I always regretted that my Dad never got to hear him. He can beat this, I know two who have. My prayers are with him for a complete recovery. It will be interesting what his critics have to say. Class will tell.

I’m devastated. There are no words to express my sadness right now. Rush has been like a father to me and such an education in not just politics, but life. Have grown up listening to him and he has been my best friend during the day. I pray that he will be granted a full recovery. I am praying for him and for God’s will to be done. I know many people are grieving right now just like me and we can all support each other, and Rush, with our prayers💔

I lost my beloved husband to this insidious disease. It’s debilitating and depending what level Rush is on, the length of his survival. He’s a good man and truly loves his audience. Prayers for him. I just read some comments on his announcement from another site and they are horrific. He needs support. We will make sure he gets it.

Devastated by this news. I started listening to Rush during the summer of 1989 while working on an assembly line to save money for college. He took my mush-filled brain and turned it into the conservative-thinking masterpiece it is today. Though I suspected something was awry based on his recent absences, this still comes as a shock. Sending prayers and good vibes to The Maha Rushie from Idaho!

Prayers for you El Rushbo! I know from my dad's experience, if Rush is in Stage 4 his treatment will prolong his life about six months. I began listening in late 80s. I wonder how many leftists will be cheering and celebrating his passing, whenever it occurs?

I’m devastated. I first heard about Rush in 1993 when I was in Bangkok Thailand. I had gone on a day trip sponsored by the hotel up to “The Bridge over the River Kwai” in Kanchanaburi Thailand. A marine and a professor from University of Nebraska who were also taking the day trip told me about how Rush was someone I must listen to. Up to that point I wasn’t very political and sometimes voted for democrats—when I voted. When I returned to the US, I listened to Rush and fairly quickly realized I was a solid conservative. I never looked back and never voted Democrat again. Will be praying for his recovery.

Like so many others here, I began listening to Rush almost from the beginning, and remember where I was and what I was doing when my husband stopped home on his way back to his office from court. He said, "You've got to listen to this guy! He's talking like we do!" And my beloved brother --a long-time talk listener to talk radio out of Boston-- my brother who just lost his battle with cancer, said the same. I admit to sobbing. Rush has been a steady intellectual "companion" for (almost the whole) three hours a day, 32 years. A thoughtful, insightful analyst of politics and culture, so brilliant, and funny as heck. As for the Rush-haters, well, I prefer not to let myself think about what those negative, poisonous people will vomit up in their vileness. Rather, all my family is praying for him and his family and friends.

Rush is an honest genius. He often says “Talent on loan from God”, and the “formerly nicotine stained fingers”. I listen every day, and was in shock and devastated to hear him today make this announcement. An observer and advisor without peer in history as far as I’m concerned. This including Samuel Johnson, Mark Twain, the ancient Greeks, or anyone else in world history.

The advances in treatments these days give hope. My dad was diagnosed with lung cancer a few years ago and he had a successful surgery because of the tumor’s fortuitous location - but he also has been on an immunotherapy treatment for another cancer that they say is helping this lung cancer as well. He is 90 now and doing well God bless you and keep you, Rush. you were the voice of common sense that I stumbled on in 1992 after Clinton was elected and I listened rabidly until Obama was re-elected in 2012. All through the years of being home with my children. One of my sons went to Hillsdale lol because we learned about it through you. What a gift you have been to so many of us, giving voice to our fundamental beliefs that had been so battered by the liberal media onslaught, and keeping us from panic. God is with you, friend. There is no greater hope than through Jesus Christ. He hears the prayers of His faithful.

Comments refer to stage 4 however I don't see that in this article. It says "advanced". That said, diagnosis is not necessarily a death sentence. Is it a small cell cancer or large cell? Where is it located? Is it operable? I had the large lobe of my left lung removed in 2011 due to lung cancer. I'm obviously still kicking, oxygen levels are fine, do my own yard work, home maintenance, and live a pretty active life for a 77 yr. old. We need you, Rush. Thoughts and prayers are with you.

My experience exactly, # 30. Since 1992 Rush has been a bulwark, and in a very real sense a brother and a friend to me. I know that millions of other Americans and all L-Dotters feel the same way. Lincoln said that the judgements of God are "good and righteous altogether" Let faith in that timeless truth sustain us. It is what the Almighty and our beloved El Rushbo would have us do.

TK and I were married in 1988; he a rock-ribbed conservative and me a liberal ACLU feminist. We had polite, and spirited, current events discussions at dinner. TK calmly presented logical arguments and I found my first assumptions always challenged. I wanted to familiarize myself with what his view on any daily topic would be and I had heard of this new conservative talk guy, Rush Limbaugh. I began listening when I could catch a few minutes and used him for opposition research. I'm remedial. It took a total of four years for my full conversion. After the second year I began to listen longer and more frequently. TK and I agreed on more issues. By year three I was a frequent listener yet could not bring myself to change my registration to Republican (shudder). In 1992 I bought into Bill Clinton's "Third Way" shtick and thought Hillary! was fantastic on liberal talk radio interviews. Six months after BJ's inauguration I registered Republican. I began listening to Rush at work with the volume down low, but anyone who came into my office knew who was on the radio. He was with me through nine years in service to the City of Los Angeles, and got me through doing seven years hard-time at my current county's Socialist Services. Since retiring 12 years ago I've listened faithfully every morning while reading Lucianne. I found Ldot on the recommendation of Tony Snow one day when he was guest host. (Back when registration for posting was closed and I had to wait several years to get on.) Rush taught me about life, with a little politics on the side. I believe he saved our fledgling marriage and made me a better wife and a stronger, truly independent woman. His influence on my life is incalculable. In his humbleness he admits his talent is indeed on loan from God. Let us pray in our humbleness that God will extend the loan.

Rush, I know you and your staff read Lucianne so I want to tell you what you mean to me and how tremendously proud I am to be a “Rush Baby.” I have listened since I was old enough to begin to understand what it really truly means to be an American, the 3rd grade I think, so we’re in our 27th year! You are my favorite teacher, one of my most favorite Americans (Washington, Adams, Limbaugh... you’re up there Maha!), and I feel like you are a wonderful old friend. Your voice is an important one in my life and I am gutted by your news today. I want you to know that you are in my prayers and those of my children, Rush Grandbabies. Thank you for everything.

I found myself thinking recently, "I don't know how he does it, but Rush is thinking more sharply, sounding funnier, and performing an even more crucial service than ever lately. Can he actually be 69 years old?" Then a terrible thought struck me: "What will happen when his years actually catch up to him? What will life be like when there's a void where his voice used to be?" The idea was so unthinkable I just put it out of my mind. I don't know about the rest of you, but Rush has been more than a bulwark of sanity, and a borderline family member, for three decades. He has clarified and bolstered what it means to be "conservative." He has shown that it's cool, and why. And he has pretty much singlehandedly kept me grounded in reality, and optimism, through the incredible avalanche of lies and corruption from the Democrat-media-intelligence-swamplex over the past three years. I don't know what I'd have done without him. You can have your Hannitys, Ingrahams, O'Reillys and the rest of the folks who came along in his wake. Rush is the Babe Ruth of talk radio: he set the standard, and he still leaves the others far behind. Big prayers -- *big* prayers -- for the Big Voice on the Right.

That is the worst news. Rush if you read these comments please accept a heartfelt and warmest "thank you" for all you have done over the years--and I could not be more sincere. Whenever (over the last 25 years) I was down and mourning the decline of the great USA, I tuned you in for a few minutes and you would always lift my spirits and get me back on the side of the optimists. And the best part--and a very special extra "thank you" Rush--you always did your job with wonderful humor and a cheerful heart (and first-class humor, too--you made me laugh when I needed to laugh and when few others could)--you embody the great American spirit: a man that wishes his fellow citizens no ill, but only all the best this great country has to offer. I and my family will be praying for your full recovery. I look forward to being informed and entertained by the irreplaceable Rush for many years!

She may beat the odds and still be here in 5 years after being diagnosed last August. We can only hope. The immuno-therapy that Rush is going to try shows much promise. I only heard the beginning of his show today so am just learning this news now. I just don't believe it. I was in the car, driving, when I heard him make the announcement about his hearing loss. Almost drove into oncoming traffic, it was such a shock. And look how he conquered that little glitch. Prayers for him and for all who depend on him for sanity on the airwaves. Dear Lord, we knew he wouldn't be here forever, but I for sure thought he would be talking to us at age 90. Ramona (the Pest)

As #21 posted, I will certainly always remember exactly where I was when I heard this news ( though I had a dark feeling a couple of weeks ago when Mark Steyn gave me a dreaded premonition of what we heard today). I was just leaving my bank when I turned on the radio. I was stunned as I sat there in my "DittoHead Nation" t-shirt that I got for Christmas last year. I've tried not to miss a show since 88 and have always suspected that he came to this Salon to build his daily Stack of Stuff. We can never underestimate what this man did for his country and I hope that these prayers/eulogies/well wishes hit their target untie that one hand to help him fight and win this battle , as well.

I felt like one huge sob went up from America. I found Rush on my lunch hour while searching for the result of the Clarence Thomas vote. Have listened and loved him since. We went to Dan’s Bake sale, didn’t get to meet Rush but heard his speech there. A fantastic event; still remember the highway bumper to bumper going to Ft Collins from Denver. God’s Speed Rush.

I went through this last year, so I'm having a bit of anxiety just writing this post. But, I want to write it so as to encourage others that this is not the automatic death sentence that a cancer diagnosis once was. I divide the whole ordeal into different stages... Diagnosis testing and treatment planning, radiation and chemo treatments, surgery, another 2 cycles of Chemo treatment, and finally recovery. First symptom was in November 2018 and last chemo was August 1, 2019, The stage that Rush is in right now was the hardest of them all for me. There's the shock, the excruciating period while waiting for test results, the mind thinking the worst and planning for your own demise, etc. etc. Emotionally, it was the hardest part of the whole process. The doctors learn important information from each of the tests (Ct Scan, Biopsy, pulmonary function test, Pet Scan, and MRI) Through testing they figure out the exact location of the cancer, its size, and whether it has spread to other regions. My doctors could not or would not tell me the stage of Cancer I had until all the tests were completed, so I'm thinking when he says "advanced" it does not necessarily mean stage 4, as others have said. (I remember them calling mine advanced and it turned out to be stage 3B) Rush has a few things going for him ... his weight is down, he exercises, and I'm pretty sure he doesn't smoke anymore. They stressed to me how important those 3 things were, and told me to treat the time before radiation and chemo started like boot camp in order to strengthen myself. And finally, it is so good to hear Rush say that he has a strong relationship with God. That got me through it and changed my mindset on more than one occasion. Everyone's prayers will helped, too. I pray for Rush.

Rush in the early years was perhaps the ONLY line of defense of a conservative viewpoint in media that is both informative, entertaining (and funny)...and on AM radio! Forget about the networks and forget about print media for a conservative point of view. Rush was it and he held the line. In the process he informed and inspired millions craving for a conservative viewpoint that many of us shared but was never articulated better than Rush. In addition Rush arguably transformed American politics and media for the better. At a minimum, Rush put politicians and the media on notice that their monopoly of indoctrination was over and they now had to compete for the battle of ideas (which Rush logically pointed out that they typically lost on substance). I’ve been listening to Rush since 1990. Like so many others, he has been a fixture in my life since then. A great constant. I can’t imagine Rush not there. I don’t want to. But it’s not over yet. I add my prayers to everyone else’s. There IS power in prayer. I also take great comfort in the fact that Rush has raised a generation of Rush Babies that will carry on the fight long after he and the rest of us are gone. That is Rush’s enduring legacy!

Rush teaches lessons in critical thinking, seeing through the preverbal liberal fog and gives hope. There is no one like Rush....never will be. Prayers for Rush and Katherine, his brother David, his nieces and nephews. Prayers for his Docs, those medically caring for him. I am still stunned....I can't imagine a day not listening, not learning, not having the hope he brings.

I began to listen to Rush in 1995 after the death of our 16-year old daughter in a car accident. When I was in the car I couldn't stand the quiet, but I also couldn't do music. I turned to a talk radio station and there he was. Initially I rolled my eyes a lot. In time, I was hooked. I can't tell you how many times he's talked me down from the ledge. When the media is screaming that it's the end of the world for conservatives or all that we love, I listen for his take and almost always breath a sigh of relief. He's not been wrong yet. Today's news devastated me. My husband was in tears. Please know, Rush, that you have a million-plus army behind you. We will fight and pray as hard for you as you have done for us. I'll take this opportunity now to thank you for all you've done for our family during hard times (and you never even knew!) and to thank you in advance for your counsel in the years ahead. You've got this. God bless.

Donald Trump Faces Possible Expulsion From SAG-AFTRA As Union's Board Sets Special Session. The former star of The Apprentice – and soon-to-be former president – has been a member of the union and its forerunners, SAG and AFTRA, since 1989. The two unions merged in 2012. Article XIV of the SAG-AFTRA Constitution states that members may be suspended or expelled for “engaging in actions antagonistic to the interests or integrity of the union.” Expulsion requires a two-thirds vote of the national board, but Tuesday’s meeting is just the the start of the process, which could take weeks to complete and includes a hearing on the charges against him.

Judge Royce Lamberth issued the order in response to litigation by the group that has dragged on for more than five years and seeks the public release of information from Clinton's tenure at the State Department. But two of the Democratic front-runners have their own, lower-level history of mixing family and politics. There’s something unattractive about a mature woman marrying into the British Royal family with one of the world’s most expensive weddings, hanging out with the Queen, living in insane luxury…and then whining non-stop about the horror of her life. There’s something even less appealing when that woman accuses the Royal family of race hatred.
