Donald Trump's most famous and flamboyant lawyer vanished from his trial Thursday - turning up in Miami to fight back against a tidal wave of criticism for his extraordinary defense that anything a president does to get re-elected is unimpeachable.
The Harvard professor surfaced in Florida as other academics and attorneys reacted with astonishment to his position, which he then said he had never actually said.
On CNN he told Wolf Blitzer that he had a commitment in the state Thursday and it was difficult to change his flight because the Super Bowl is on this weekend in Miami.

This is just the Associated Press and the UK DailyMail teaming up to throw dirt on the President's advocates.

Never believe anything from Associated Press.
"Trust is based on experience". (I think Ann Landers said that.)

I'm pretty sure he was cut loose. I've never understood why he was added to the team. He wasn't necessary and his flamboyance has been a detriment.

They are misrepresenting what he said. He said that there could be multiple motives.
Speaking as a taxpayer and voter I would like to have an investigation to find out what Quid Pro Joe and his idiot son were doing over there with Burisma and it is in this country's interest to do so.

Dershowitz is a committed leftist. He only came scurrying to conservatives for protection after he was caught up in the Epstein scandal. Never trust that worm.

Can't wait for the APs deep dive into Schiff and Nadlers duplicitous lying histrionics.

Disagree strongly with previous comments about Dershowitz not being necessary for the President's defense, how on earth is one of the greatest experts on our constitution an unnecessary distraction? Judging by the reaction to his assertions in the media, he not only hit the target of their ignorance, but he gave the senators something to seriously think about. Yes he is a flamboyant personality, but he has a brilliant legal mind regarding the constitution, and I was very glad to see him working the room.
If Dershowitz was that committed a leftist, he would never have gone within a country mile of Trump's team. He is one of the rare birds who can separate his personal politics from legal arguments regarding the constitution. I doubt he was cut loose, that is just wishful thinking on the part of the media who will now punish him for helping Trump.

Dershowitz was very necessary for the defense. In fact, I think he won the case for acquittal. He said he left for a previous commitment. Why are people so quick to believe what the AP says? I read their extremely biased articles in my local newspaper every day. They are a poster organization for fake news.

The Dersch is a constitionalist first, democrat second.
I didnt hear his comments, and dont care. Hevwas either taken out of context, misspoke or had his words twisted. The man isnt dumb enough to claim a president can do anything he wants to get re-elected. The media hear what they wanted to hear.

The Professor did his thing and moved on, if you listened to him he said he was going to do that from the get-go. You know he rang a bell, since he clearly discombobulated the fake and liberal media.

Dersho is a strange cat. Never figured him out. For purposes of this circus, Trump's legal team was done with him.

He was offering a professorial analysis - I sympathize with him, as a fellow retired professor.
My interpretation of his presentation is that much of what a president does has mixed motives, especially a first term [president. Dollar Bill Clinton returned from Martha's Vineyard, on Air Force One, to D.C., to issue an order blowing up an empty aspirin factory. Every trip a president takes has mixed motives. Every proposal a president offers to congress has a mixed motive.
Dershowitz was saying that it was impossible to draw a red line, in a mixed motive presidential action. (Bug eyed Schiff Head, interestingly enough, said the same thing.)
Schiff Head seemed to say that every mixed motive called for impeachment, and Dershowitz said it was impossible to untangle and weigh the mixed motive, and therefore, impeachment was not warranted.

This is the kind of stuff the DM loves. You can read similar articles about the Kardashians and other faux celebrities - they’re strung down the right column.
It is a tabloid. What is it about “tabloid” that some don’t seem to understand.
With tabloids, expect clickbait sensational headlines and lots of photos (which they buy from others). Everything else is scrounged from other sources and often patchworked together that an article is a string of repetitious bits. In this case, it is an AP article. All Pfaux. Fake news.

There's a reason so many refer to the AP as the AssPress.
That little piece could as easily issued from MSNBC or CNN.
Objectivity has disappeared from what we used to call "journalism."

He did what he had to do. It was a bit less clear and eloquent than I expected, but he did the job he was asked to do. The other three are experienced trial lawyers, and I've found Philbin's wonderfully cerebral but non-egotistical approach to be great. My take was that they had different personality types presenting to reach different parts of their audience. But I think Dershowitz did what he was asked and wasn't needed yesterday anyway.
