Trump to roll back Michelle Obama's
school lunch rules on vegetables, fruits.

The Trump administration on Friday announced plans to roll back school lunch standards on vegetables and fruits originally promoted by Michelle Obama, unveiling the proposal on the former first lady's birthday. The new standards will allow schools more flexibility "because they know their children best," the Agriculture Department said in a press release. “Schools and school districts continue to tell us that there is still too much food waste and that more common-sense flexibility is needed to provide students nutritious and appetizing meals. We listened and now we’re getting to work,” Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue said in a statement

Comments:

My youngest had to suffer through her horrible rules and the worst lunches in the history of our local HS. My older kids LOVED their lunch hour and the cafeteria at that same school. PRE- Michelle. The 0bama kids had chefs serving them gourment lunches at their posh private school.

A few years ago, I spoke with a head school lunch lady. Prior to the new rules, they had a salad bar, where the kids could select the vegetables that that liked, after, everything was pre-portioned, and most of it went into the trash. She also had a five inch binder of all the regulations that she had to follow.

I was a lunch lady for a few years - I left just before all Michelle imposed restrictions.. I still work in a high school- the lunches were flat, no taste- limited choices.. high school kids ordered Jimmy Johns.. freaky fast delivery!

I have breakfast and lunch duty sometimes at elementary schools I sub at. It grates me sorely to see these kids throw perfectly good food away and nothing can be done about it because of state laws. I’m talking about unopened cartons of milk, apples, oranges, and bananas in pristine condition! Let the kids choose what they want and plan their meals around that. Less wasteful by far.

OP - I know I mention this often but so few know about it. The "Obama" girls are not their real children. Their parents are Nesbitts and if you google them, pictures will come up. You can see who their real mother and father are. The girls couldn't look more like them if they'd tried. I often wondered how a real mother could destroy food for small children, let them go hungry. Now I have my answer.

The powers that be at CNN were in full outrage mode yesterday after Republican Sen. Martha McSally called Manu Raju, one of their congressional correspondents, a “liberal hack,” and refused to answer his questions. After the incident, much of the minimal airtime left over from trashing Donald Trump all day was expended in defense of Raju and the network, which they clearly feel, has been unfairly besmirched. I’ve got two words for them: toughen up.

The United States Mexico Canada Agreement passed the Senate on Thursday, 89-10, replacing the 26-year-old North American Free Trade Agreement. U.S. trade representative Robert Lighthizer praised the strong bipartisan support the trade deal received in both chambers, saying “a new chapter in U.S. trade policy has begun.” “The USMCA is the first trade agreement that will result in more manufacturing jobs, not fewer. It is the first agreement that contains strong, enforceable labor and environmental standards that will help to level the playing field for American workers,” he continued. “ It is the first trade agreement that embraces the

The 10-year surge in illegal and legal immigration has exploded the populations of mostly Democratic states enough that the 2020 census is likely to result in the redistribution of 24 House seats in states President Trump won, according to a new population analysis released Thursday morning. The prediction from the Center for Immigration Studies said that 26 seats overall will shift due to immigration increases since the last census was taken. And it said that a minimum of 19 of those seats will be added to Democratic states.

Sen. Bernie Sanders has put nationalizing health insurance at the center of his presidential campaign, but his proposal to fight climate change also calls for a government takeover of a fundamental segment of the economy — electricity production. Sanders has laid out a $16 trillion climate change plan that would transition U.S. electricity generation away from fossil fuels to renewable resources like wind, solar and hydropower by 2030. That’s far faster than any other Democratic candidate's target and sets a pace that rivals like former Vice President Joe Biden say is unrealistic. And like Sanders' healthcare plan, the green energy

Former South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg has repeatedly said those who support President Donald Trump are racist. CNN's Jake Tapper on Sunday asked Buttigieg if he regretted making those comments. "Republicans have been seizing, including in a new Trump ad, a statement you made that 'Anyone who supported this president is, at best, looking the other way on racism.' You've also said that on my show," Tapper explained. "That's almost 63 million Americans who you're painting with a pretty broad brush. Do you regret saying that at all?" Buttigieg didn't hesitate before he responded.

If Steve Bannon is correct (and I think he probably is), Michael Bloomberg has no intention of occupying the Oval Office; his real plan is far more devious and frightening. Bloomberg is investing a small fraction of his fortune (Bannon says it is now $70 billion) in a “leveraged buyout” of the party, installing himself as the oligarch who calls the shots, including the selection of the candidate to win the presidency. Forget the hundreds of millions of dollars spent on the “Mike will get it done” ads saturating the airwaves and the Super Bowl ad touting gun control.

Against the violent talk and now actual violence coming out of the Bernie Sanders campaign for president, Bernie's soaring in the polls anyway. He's doing so because unlike pretty much any Democrat except his probable nearest rival, Michael Bloomberg, he's actually talking about the economy, something TeamTrump has held a monopoly on. Problem is, he's promising economic paradise, a full creation of 20 million jobs. Via Nate Silver, here's one of his ads that ran in California: Sanders says he's going to create 20 million jobs? Through state intervention or socialist central planning, presumably? Better living through socialism? Give us a break. For starters, been there done that. Way back in 2008,
