What's Going on With Drudge?
Rasmussen Claims 'Matt's Not

"What happened to Drudge?"A lot of people have been asking that question lately. If you talk to conservatives these days, you'll hear that Matt Drudge's eponymous news aggregation site has gone over to the dark side—that Matt's joined the anti-Trump resistance. And now, Rasmussen Reports, an arguably reputable polling operation, is calling Drudge out on Twitter, even suggesting that the site has been sold. The whole kerfuffle appears to have begun at the end of November, when the Bongino Report, touted as a Trump-friendly alternative to Drudge, launched. Bongino taunted Drudge with a pair of tweets:

Good riddance Drudge. The Bongino Report is just fine, as are Beige Page, Whatfinger, and several excellent websites that have moved in to fill the void very nicely.

Haven't been to Drudge for 6 years or so. He turned about that time. Still, he was the reason I found Lucianne in the late 90's through his posting of Conservative links. I owe him that.

How it is wished that the source could be remembered, but read quite a while ago that the father of Matt Drudge was the principle owner of the site.. The article stated that the father sold his interest to a Google affiliated company and that tthe content of the site is now controlled by new owner. Citizenfreepress.com is an interesting conservative/libertarian site. The site loosely follows the Drudge layout. Where Drudge has day's main happenings listed on the top left of his page, Citizenfreepress does, also, but they list about a hundred of them. After you get through all of that, the main news is presented in large format in the middle of the page (like the main stories on Drudge) - its worth a look. Judi McLeod and Canada Free Press remain favorites.

I find it interesting/disturbing that if indeed Matt Drudge is no longer running his own site, then the fact that this change has NOT been publicly and prominently disclosed on this site is purposeful deception on the part of the new owners. They obviously want the millions of daily visitors to believe that Matt is still there and has joined "the resistance". It is common practice to publicly announce new ownership/partnerships to major media sites. This was not done in this case (if Matt has indeed left). Very sneaky. Very lefty.

I don't really know. I met Drudge once, had a couple of minutes at a private political event where he was alone,. I approached him and tried to start a bit of a conversation. Like talking to a chair. He mumbled a few super short answers (which I can't even remember) and looked like he had to be somewhere else. After a couple of clearly uncomfortable minutes, I left. I never have been able to understand him, and now - clearly the site changed sides politically some time ago, and I stopped visiting. It had been my home page since shortly after it started, mid-late 90s.

I sent an email to Charlie Hurt who is supposedly an early editor of Drudge: charleshurt@charleshurtpolitics.com to find out what's going on - no reply. Then I also read here that Drudge sold his site to Google - THAT would make sense considering the drivel that has been on the site. I no longer look at it. Thank you poster for suggesting Ctizenfreepress.com (love that they allow comments) and I also enjoy Bongino.

Times change. For many years Drudge Report occupied the place of honor on the far left side of the favorites (bookmarks) bar at the top of my browser screen. I no longer check him, so today I moved him to the bottom of the "others" list to keep company with the other "conservative" sites that read as anti Trump, those that I didn't drop altogether. Lucianne now occupies the place of honor on the left, followed by Conservative Tree House, Breitbart, and now bonginoreport.com for its initial, ahem, probationary period. Hah! Hint to Bongino- the first time I see anything on your site by Dreher, Larison, or some other so-called conservatives who shall remain nameless, then you're gonna join Drudge (Reno's still in favorites purgatory. Perhaps time to check in on him again. Enough penance?). And if Tucker ever starts a news aggregation site, he'll also be giving Lucianne a run for the spot at the left side of the bar. Good luck.

One has to wonder about the principles of a guy who would sell a conservative web site to leftists, knowing what they intend to do with it. Lefty sites and news organizations are no longer self-supporting but there are plenty of insane billionaires willing to prop them up and stick it to America.

John Fetterman won their respective party’s “money primaries” through the first quarter of 2022, and that counts for something because all those dollars do help candidates reach the maximum number of people. And the spending in the Pennsylvania Senate primary has been relentless so far, with an analysis by Kantar/CMAG showing $39.16 million has been spent through April 12 in paid television advertisements

Here we are in the midst of a once-in-a-half-century pandemic, with the economy flattened, millions of people unemployed, and unrest on the streets of our cities. And President-elect Joe Biden says that one of his highest priorities as president will be to reenter the Paris climate accord. President Trump kept his "put America first" promise and pulled the United States out of this Obama-era treaty. Biden wants us back in. Why? Paris is an unmitigated failure. You don't have to take my word for it. National Geographic, a supporter of climate change action, recently ran the numbers and admitted in its recent headline: "Most countries aren't hitting 2030 climate goals."

Teachers unions have been instrumental in keeping American schools online during the pandemic. But some have escalated their positions on reopening to include an array of social justice demands. Why do we do this to ourselves every four years? We talk incessantly about the latest poll in Florida and Michigan and Pennsylvania and Arizona until we are blue in the face. Then they turn out to be wildly wrong. When will we ever learn? It reminds me of that old saying which I think was from Einstein, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.” Polling, at least the old-school style, is over. Done. I don’t need to go through a long list of reasons why nobody should take pollsters seriously anymore, but a few data points are instructive.
Implications of the Flynn Pardon 10 replies

President Trump granted a pardon to Michael Flynn, his former national-security adviser, today. Flynn had pled guilty to lying to FBI agents about conversations, during the 2016 transition, with the Russian ambassador about sanctions. Flynn’s pardon should bring to an end one gross violation of the Constitution’s separation of powers, even as it gives rise to groundless accusations of another. Although Flynn had pled guilty, the circumstances of the case had raised serious concerns about whether the government had proceeded properly. The FBI, for example, questioned Flynn even though it did not appear he had violated any law. In May, Attorney General William Barr ordered the case dropped.

Minnesota is one of a number of states that are living under what amounts to martial law. Our proto-fascist dictator Tim Walz, in his latest edict, purports to ban traditional Thanksgiving get-togethers: Saturday, Nov. 21 through Friday, Dec. 18, Executive Order 20-99 requires all Minnesotans to: * Limit social gatherings to one household. * Not gather outside of your household. * Postpone all celebrations, events, receptions, and parties, including any social gatherings for weddings and funerals. So it is “illegal” for me to invite any of my four kids to Thanksgiving dinner.
