Starbucks' (SBUX) changes to its bathroom policy appear to be impacting foot traffic for the coffee giant despite sales that have outpaced expectations, according to recent data.
Since opening its bathroom doors to the public in the wake of a controversial incident in Philadelphia, the coffee giant has seen a 6.8% drop in store attendance per month relative to other coffee shops nearby, according to the findings of a joint study the University of Texas at Dallas and Boston College.
maybe people come in and find the bathrooms are dirty, and the tables are crowded,”

Couldn't happen to better people. Maybe they could stage another conversation about race to see if that brings 'em in.

What marketing genius at Starbucks decided that opening restrooms to bums off the street was a good idea???
I won't say that I won't buy a coffee at Starbucks, but only if there are no other options.

The only thing I like about Starbucks is that leftoids spend an exorbitant amount of money for a product that costs pennies (maybe nickels) to provide. This supports capitalism and a company that is capitalist (even if it likes to portray itself as being in sympathy with the left.) Otherwise, I wouldn't let anything from their facility touch my mouth. I have seen the typical person serving the product.

It’s more than just the restrooms. For long years they have allowed laptop types to park with one cup of coffee and use their Wi-fi. Anyone wanting to buy a coffee and a pastry would have to carry it away because the single Wi-fi types were occupying all of the (few) tables.

Most people realized that before this stupid policy was enacted that the type of people who would walk into Starbucks, use the bathroom and not buy anything would not be the upper crust of society. Good luck on that SJW support you knotheads.

Unless there's no other option, I think anyone who buys from Starbucks is a financial moron. (This includes a nuclear family member who, I suspect has spent about ~$10,000 at that ridiculous place.)

I'm not defending Starbucks (not a fan of the company or it's product) but this is a really lame study which used "anonymous smartphone location data and algorithmic analysis", that's hardly reliable.

While using the drive-thru window at Starbucks yesterday, I ordered a large decaf plain coffee. When I asked the ditzy young lady if I could get a couple of creamers from her, she said "We don't have separate creamers, only the tall containers." I asked if she could get me some of that half-and-half, and she said, "Do you want me to pour it into the coffee?" The wife and I looked at each other and tried not to laugh out loud. "Yes, please." As opposed to pouring it into my cupped hands, perhaps??
As for foul bathrooms, after two assignments in Korea and several TDYs to various regions of Turkey, I can stand anything. Bring it!

Given that policy, I cannot even imagine walking into a starbucks in Austin these days.
By the way, I always judge the cleanliness of an unseen restaurant kitchen by the cleanliness of their bathrooms. Many a time I have stopped going to a restaurant, even though their food tastes good.

Don’t paint all Starbucks in all states with same brush. There are these type bathrooms in many businesses and stores. The more elegant ones where my son lives in a conservative area fixed their problem. If they are in a shopping area, the Starbux management negotiated with other store owners to pay for big nice bathrooms OUTSIDE in the mall area. There they have the Unisex nonsense bathroom then two Family bathrooms. This avoided criticism from the goofy left and kept the whole issue away from the store.

I meant to add that the MOST lefty coffee house in my area of the TX Panhandle (management & clientele) is the locally-owned one NOT Starbucks. Still, best place for coffee is home!

And didn't the new female CEO of Starbucks say she doesn't like whites? That's a great marketing idea, pi$$ off a majority of your potential customers because you hate whites. What about Starbucks saying they were hiring ten thousand middle east animals?
You know, the ones that wipe their fannies with their hands, bring all sorts of God awful disease with their un-vaccinated brothers and sisters, like the plague, Typhus, and who knows what else. That's a great marketing idea as well. And do all of your current employees free of some of these third world diseases? Inquiring minds would like to know.

I've got no problem with the starbucks that I've been to, the bathroom is single use only. What I do have a problem with in several I've been to (most notably Malibu) is the large number of homeless people sleeping in the public area. You can't tell me it doesn't influence people not to come in.

Starbucks' coffee tastes like used motor oil. I make my own coffee at home, add vanilla SF creamer and syrup and only spend about a dime a cup. I use my own WiFi and do not have to deal with homeless bums and drug addicts.

All Starbucks has to do to counter less foot traffic because of their communist ideals is to raise the price of everything they sell to make up the difference so they can brag that their policy had no impact on their earnings. It's what demonrat commies do - raise prices; raise taxes, etc.
