Former megachurch pastor and evangelical author Joshua Harris said in a recent interview that he believes some of the massive support President Trump has enjoyed from the evangelical community has been “incredibly damaging to the Gospel and to the church.” Harris, an influential evangelical teacher and writer during the late 1990s and up until he announced he'd abandoned his faith earlier this year, added that having "a leader like Trump I think is in itself part of the indictment" of Christians. Evangelicals have been staunch supporters of Trump since his 2016 election, with his job approval higher than average among

Comments:

Rightttt. The guy who abandoned his faith and now runs around critiquing Christianity is an 'expert'. In the meantime the Democrat party is openly hostile to people of faith.

No, NOT realizing that God is sovereign is what ruins the church. I have noticed that a lot of people go to church for reasons other than being connected to God. How many church-going people have read the Bible from beginning to end? A lot of churches don't even ask their members to read the Bible from beginning to end. We end up with everyone leaning on their own understanding. Pastors and Priests are included in that sentiment.

Never heard of him, but how much damage do you suppose he did in abandoning the faith and his church and for having little faith to lead a church to begin with? Why is everything Donald Trump's fault? If he abandoned "his" faith, what does it matter to him if Donald Trump damaged the church? It should make his anti-church-self happy.

Rallies and events were staged across Iran Monday to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the start of what would last for 444 days and be known as the Iran hostage crisis. Amid new tensions between Tehran and the United States, demonstrations nationwide marked the Iran's National Day of Protest against Global Arrogance. In Tehran, students and activists gathered outside the former U.S. Embassy, where on Nov. 4, 1979, a group of students stormed the building and took dozens of U.S. State Department workers hostage.

And it is not coming from the usual producers, but from Brazil, Canada, Norway and Guyana — countries that are either not known for oil or whose production has been lackluster in recent years. This looming new supply may be a key reason Saudi Arabia’s giant oil producer, Aramco, pushed ahead on Sunday with plans for what could be the world’s largest initial stock offering ever. A new wave of wildfires is likely to reduce the availability of home insurance in vulnerable areas of California. Home insurance already became scarce and expensive in some regions after insurers’ massive payouts for wildfire losses in the state in 2017 and 2018. Home insurers have declined to renew tens of thousands of home-insurance policies in areas with high wildfire risk in the past two years. Now, as firefighters battle several large blazes across the state, 2019 could shape up to be another year of outsize wildfire losses, though this year’s fires have so far not caused significant damage compared

Michelle Obama recently complained about "white flight" in her old Chicago neighborhood. By "white flight " she means that whites left her neighborhood as it became increasingly black. "Upstanding families like ours, who were doing everything we were supposed to do and better -- as we moved in, white folks moved out, because they were afraid of what our families represented," she said. "I always stop there when I talk about this out in the world because I want to remind white folks that y'all were running from us. This family, with all the values you read about: You ran from us. And you're still running."

Sea level rise is set to challenge human civilization for centuries to come, even if internationally agreed climate goals are met and planet-warming emissions are then immediately eliminated, researchers have found. The lag time between rising global temperatures and the knock-on impact of coastal inundation means that the world will be dealing with ever-rising sea levels into the 2300s, regardless of prompt action to address the climate crisis, according to the new study. Even if governments meet their commitments from the landmark 2015 Paris climate agreement, the first 15-year period of the deal will still result in enough emissions
