President Trump "went off script" during his call on Sunday with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, before he announced that the U.S. would withdraw all troops from northeast Syria ahead of a Turkish military operation in the region, a well-placed senior U.S. military source told Fox News on Wednesday. During the phone call, Trump had talking points, according to the source: “Tell Erdogan to stay north of the border." “He went off script," the source said.

Comments:

Another accusation against President Trump from “a well-placed senior U.S. military source.”

If Trump isn't going to start firing people then he's as much to blame as anyone. Trump has got to start firing people. Decimating is a good word... One in every 10 people... You're fired! The leaks WILL stop.

Senior Military official: Trump is President, and not you. Not only that, but Trump sets the policy, and does not have to consult with you before, during, or after. I think Trump has done an excellent job in the Middle East. We do not need 2,000 troops in Syria. And it time for us to leave Afghanistan. We have spent 8 trillion dollars in the Middle East, and have nothing to show for it. What if that money had been spent in the USA?

Ronald Reagan also went ‘off script’ when he exhorted: “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!” Apparently his speech writers and advisors cringed when he said that in front of the Brandenburg Gate in 1987 but in retrospect, it was a defining moment in the Cold War and for his presidency.

How could the President go off script as he is the top elected official in the USA and the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces? As the President is the final decider on what the script is when it comes to foreign affairs. The script may have contained recommendations to the President, but nothing says that the President must always follow the recommendations of the Pentagon or other bureaucrats when dealing with foreign leaders. Is this another leak or fake news?
