A pedestrian was seriously injured early Saturday when she was struck by a car driven by a man who was drunk, using his cell phone and had no license, authorities said. The woman was walking east on Bay Way near Route 9 in Lacey around 4:50 a.m. when the vehicle hit her from behind and didn’t stop, Lacy police said. New York County District Attorney Cyrus Vance's office has subpoenaed eight years of President Donald Trump's tax returns from Mazars USA, the longtime accounting firm to Trump and the Trump Organization, as part of its investigation into hush money payments, according to a person familiar with the matter.
The subpoena was first reported by The New York Times.
It isn't clear what deadline Mazars USA has to comply with the grand jury subpoena. A Mazars representative could not immediately be reached for comment.
Any material obtained by a grand jury subpoena is covered by grand jury secrecy rules and would likely become public only if it were used as evidence at a trial.

The Saturday evening report was adapted from an upcoming book by reporters Robin Pogrebin and Kate Kelly titled The Education of Brett Kavanaugh: An Investigation and due out this week.
Their report details an alleged incident that occurred during Kavanaugh's time at Yale University. One of his classmates, Max Stier, said he witnessed Kavanaugh make inappropriate sexual contact with a female student.

The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation is reporting another ship has been seized in the gulf. Correspondent Amochai Stein said on Twitter: “Iran has seized another oil vessel in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran's Revolutionary Guard arrests a vessel and 11 crew on 'diesel smuggling charges'." It comes after Iran said accusations it had a role in the attack on Saudi oil installations were "unacceptable" and "baseless", after a senior US official said the Islamic Republic was behind it.

Thunberg, who has won plaudits around the world for her “school strike for climate” campaign, is due to appear together with three young Americans before a joint hearing of the new House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis and a House Foreign Affairs subcommittee dealing with energy and environmental issues.

Earlier this year, many liberals faced up to the problem of left-wing anti-Semitism. Despite the widespread sympathy generated by the Women’s March, the group that had organized the first and largest “resistance” protests against Donald Trump, the Democratic National Committee and other leading liberal groups and individuals disavowed the organization prior to planned January marches, because its leadership had become compromised by accusations of anti-Semitism. I remember where I was watching the last day of the Kavanaugh hearings last fall. I was not keen on his nomination. I didn’t oppose it, certainly, but he struck me as a standard-issue Republican nominee. No one to get excited over, certainly.

The weekend attack on the Saudi oil refinery may well be looked back at as a true hinge moment in history, for it represents the first time a world power, Iran, through its agents in Yemen, struck another world power with large numbers of drones in a coordinated fashion. Sure, drones have been used for the last twenty years or so to deploy weapons of war, but those deployments have usually been by singular drones against singular, specific targets. The New York Times suddenly made a major revision to a supposed bombshell piece late Sunday concerning a resurfaced allegation of sexual assault by Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh -- hours after virtually all 2020 Democratic presidential candidates had cited the original article as a reason to impeach Kavanaugh.
