Nearly half of likely U.S. voters say neither the Democrat Party nor the Republican Party is the party that represents the American people, a new Rasmussen Reports survey finds.
Forty-seven percent of the 1,000 likely voters polled in the survey, conducted August 12-13, 2019, agreed when asked the following question:
“Is it fair to say that neither party in Congress is the party of the American people?”
Agree: 47%
Disagree: 35%
Undecided: 17%
Since Rasmussen began asking the question in 2010, agreement that neither party is the party of the people has ranged from a high of 53% in 2014 to a low of 41% last year.

I try to imagine how much nicer a day would be without "news" about polls.

I agree. The republican party wants our votes but then try to sabotage the person we elected to be president. And for that I believe the republican parties days are numbered. The democrats seem to be the party of anything but American values. Illegal immigrants rights over that of the American citizens, Using "gay" rights to sue the church out of existence. We are seeing under the leadership of these two parties the undeniable downfall of America.

There's a lot of truth to this. Look at what both parties have been supporting. Nearly half? Its probably higher.
The Democrats are appealing to fringe elements. The hate America crowd and haters of all stripes. Jihadists. People wanting reparations. Legalized crime. Same sex marriage. Open borders. The import of cheap labor. The export of high paying jobs. The Republicans are plenty guilty as well. They jumped on the globalista bandwagon. Mainstream America does not support any of this. They know they have been betrayed by both parties, and both parties will betray them again. They are looking for something else.
The only person that stands out as not being part of any of this is Trump. Both parties hate him, but the voting public loves him. Why? Because Trump stands up for the mainstream voting public, where neither party does.

True, but for different reasons. Democrats are evil. And Republicans are stupid. The latter can be reformed. The former are irredeemable.

Talk about open to interpretation! People with polar opposite political perspectives can answer the exact same way. It would be interesting to know of the 53% who believe that one of the parties does indeed represent the American people, of what party they consider themselves to be a part.

The title is misleading. It's CONGRESS that is the focus of this poll.

Agree with #1. People are sick and tired of slanted pols and breaking news.
Congress is definitely the problem. Once they get there they get corrupted by lobbyists and special interests.
The only one who is on the side of the people is President Trump.

Well under the limited parameters of that question, I would have to say yes as well to a certain extent. Certainly one political party couldn't care less about the people or the country.

Better stated, a large part of the American electorate feels that the Uniparty represents them?

And yet every time the idea is floated of creating a 3rd party more in tune with what mainstream Americans want out of Government, the idea is universally shot down by pundits on both sides od the Political Spectrum.

In modern times the only person (obviously not a career politician) who has actually represented the American people has been Donald Trump who was elected President to make fundamental changes in how the DC system works, and has done so while being “resisted” by the the DC system all the way from the get-go.

The extreme radicals on both the right and left together probably represent ''nearly half'' of voters who respond to these polls!

I concur. I'm a conservative, ergo I must default to the Republicans, but I despise the milquetoast conservatism demonstrated by so many in the party, i.e. social liberalism. The two parties have become nothing more than college fraternaties, vying for power and popularity rather than addressing the real issues our nation faces. That's why President Trump is such a breath of fresh air, actually trying to address the issues, and I hope he wins in a landslide in 2020 so he can crush the Deep State and Swamp in his second term, restoring the nation to it's Constitutional footings.

I have gotten a few legit poll calls. I have only agreed to finish one. I do not trust any corporation with my phone number, real name and results. Living in a very liberal area my entire life, I watch my back with my opinions and any information I give out.
