The Transportation Department under Secretary Elaine Chao designated a special liaison to help with grant applications and other priorities from her husband Mitch McConnell’s state of Kentucky, paving the way for grants totaling at least $78 million for favored projects as McConnell prepared to campaign for reelection. Chao’s aide Todd Inman, who stated in an email to McConnell’s Senate office that Chao had personally asked him to serve as an intermediary, helped advise the senator and local Kentucky officials on grants with special significance for McConnell — including a highway-improvement project in a McConnell political stronghold that had been twice rejected for previous grant applications.

McConnell . . . reminds me of the nursery rhyme about the little girl with the curl. When is is good, he is very very good. But when he is bad, he is horrid! This relationship between his family and the Chinese cannot stand.

Though her family fled Communist China it is astonishing how often Mrs. Chao returns to China, ditto her husband who has a charity over there to help Chinese children! Is China now returning the favor and helping out with his 'election'??? The people in Kentucky must be very dense to vote this guy in over and over again! Perhaps mumble mouth should put his money first into charities in the US and help children over here, they deserve it more. Why is the US always building up their enemies? Oh, I forgot, his newly arrived millionaire status is due to the millions he got from his wife...… right....!

Mexico Agreed to Take Border Actions Months Before Trump Announced Tariff Deal 28 replies

The deal to avert tariffs that President Trump announced with great fanfare on Friday night consists largely of actions that Mexico had already promised to take in prior discussions with the United States over the past several months, according to officials from both countries who are familiar with the negotiations. Friday’s joint declaration says Mexico agreed to the “deployment of its National Guard throughout Mexico, giving priority to its southern border.” But the Mexican government had already pledged to do that in March during secret talks in Miami between Kirstjen Nielsen, then the secretary of homeland security, and Olga Sanchez, the Mexican secretary of the interior, the officials said.

Wednesday marks one week since Robert Mueller broke his silence and made a formal statement on the special counsel’s report on the 2016 Russian election interference. The Chart below compares Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s May 29 public statement with statements made by Attorney General William Barr. Whether or not Mueller was intentionally trying to correct the record, the differences between what he and Barr said are, in many cases, stark. Some of the differences involve near complete contradictions—in other words Mueller’s statement and Barr’s statements cannot both be true.

The list was described by three people familiar with it.

There is nothing normal about undermining the rule of law,” she said, per the Associated Press. “There is nothing normal about attacking the press.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg knows firsthand the burden of six-figure student loan debt. With loans totaling more than $130,000, they are among the 43 million people in the United States who owe federal student loan debt. The debtors are so numerous and the total debt so high — more than $1.447 trillion, according to federal statistics — that several of the Democratic candidates have made major policy proposals to address the crisis. Twice-failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton believes President Trump's administration is a gateway to fascism. Her remarks came with a specific reference to former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright's new book, Fascism: A Warning. How seriously should we take any “warning” written by a former secretary of state who mocked 2012 Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney when he cautioned about the growing Russian threat? I am going to say not much.

Even before this premiere, PBS was already infusing the LGBT agenda into its programming. In between its shows, a happy song about families included an image of two dads with a baby and lyrics to that effect. Disney and other children's stations long ago jumped onto the LGBT bandwagon with their line-up. As a Guardian headline noted in 2016, "From Nickelodeon to Disney: Children's TV leads the way for LGBT characters," with same-sex unions featuring prominently in shows. It is not just television,

California wants to look after its people, so it keeps expanding its social safety net. It also wants to welcome all comers and so embraces illegal immigrants and protects them in sanctuary cities. To see how this is working out, visit Skid Row in L.A. or neighborhoods in San Francisco or elsewhere where homeless camps are spreading. Caring for all Californians is made harder by the state importing as many non-Americans as possible. It's almost incredible, but also entirely characteristic, that California lawmakers have now decided to give healthcare free to nearly 100,000 illegal immigrants aged 19 to 25.

Lake Erie and Lake Superior — two of the five that make up the Great Lakes — broke records for water levels this May. Lakes Michigan and Huron could follow suit. Naturally, climate change is getting the blame. “We are undoubtedly observing the effects of a warming climate in the Great Lakes,” says Richard Rood, a University of Michigan climate scientist. But just a few years ago, climate scientists were insisting that a warming climate would cause water levels to decline. In 2008, Science Daily reported on a study that attributed the decline in Great Lakes water levels to global warming.
