NEW YORK - In a sign that a presidential hopeful's sexual orientation has diminished as a concern for voters, Americans are more likely to say they would reject a candidate older than 70 than a candidate who is gay, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll on Monday. The national opinion poll, conducted with the Williams Institute at UCLA ahead of the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising and the birth of the LGBT rights movement, highlighted a steady trend toward acceptance of gay politicians. The survey also called attention to one of the challenges facing President Donald Trump, who will be

It's Reuter and UCLA they didn't ask me or anyone else I know. Live and die by the polls is no way to live.

This ''wide-ranging'' poll asked exactly 2 people if sexual orientation has diminished as a concern. The pollster asked only Pete Buttigieg and his husband. That is why the poll numbers seem high. Duh.

Can anyone imagine Pete on the world stage with Putin or Xi? They would mock him back into the closet.

People know the "politically correct" answer and will give it when asked. What is in their hearts and how they vote is a different issue.

I've always been a fan of the missionary position...and older age doesn't matter. So I guess they didn't ask me.

I just took a poll amongst all my friends and neighbors. 98% disagree with the Reuters poll.
I guess poll results depend on who you question.

Fake poll, fake analysis, Fake News. No one who supports President Trump cares about his age. Period.

The article is backwards from the headline and a complete lie on top of that. My belief on gay sex stopped at "what they do in private is their own business" but it does not reach as far as approval and certainly does not accept the in-your-face militancy that many of them have adopted. Go ahead, march in your "Pride" parades but stay away from me and my family. These polls are simply the influence of the loudmouth minority. Buttigieg is a shallow and self-centered idiot who is not presidential material even if he were straight. I don't care how many languages that he speaks.

Reuters is not a credible source for reports.

Here we go. Same old same old, this is what they tried on Reagan too. Now there are young 70 yr olds and there are old 50 yr olds. As someone once said "Age only matters if you are cheese"
Reagan handled it nicely against Mondale and said he would not hold his youth and inexperience against him. Perfect answer from a very quick witted old guy. Even Mondale laughed at the answer.
And let's not forget that even the young journalists said they had a hard time keeping up with Trump campaigning. I can't remember the last man who could do 7 events in a matter of days leading up to the election. So somehow I don't think it will matter a hill of beans, and that phrase should give you a clue to my age.

How about accomplishment and competence?
Age is just a number. This President Trump works circles around people half his age. BIG LEAGUE!
An$, he loves America and wants to restore our Republic. He didn’t have to check any boxes to win, either.

There is such thing as accepted standards of propriety, long standing social traditions, culture, ancestral values. IMO, no "man" who openly kisses "his" husband in public is becoming POTUS in 2020. We are not there yet - thank God. If this is, as they say, homophobic, then count me in.

You know, there is an awful lot of news stories that need to be told. Everything from immigration, to conflict with Iran, to all things China.
Reporting on a poll is the sign of lazy, agenda-driven screed writers. This is the kind of poll, and follow-up story, that is meaningless. Polls trying to semi-predict political outcomes have been so wrong, for so long!

Article says this is a challenge for Trump. Seems like it's a bigger problem for Crazy Bernie and Slow Joe, who have a large LGBTQXYZ voting bloc to contend with.
