Among the urgent tasks we must quickly undertake, few are so urgent as a thoroughgoing revamping of the intelligence community. At the moment, it isn’t very impressive in either of the two main activities with which it’s entrusted: spying on our enemies and supporting our friends. You can see this easily enough. The Israelis, not the CIA et al., made off with the Iranians’ secret nuclear plans. So much for effective espionage. And there are two very closely linked enemies, Iran and Venezuela, that should be prime targets for subversion, but we don’t seem to be making good progress. On the other hand,

Former FBI Director James Comey wrote an op-ed on Tuesday denying the FBI ever spied on President Trump’s campaign in 2016 and claiming it was “just good people trying to figure out what was true, under unprecedented circumstances.”Comey wrote in the Washington Post: But go ahead, investigate the investigators, if you must. When those investigations are over, they will find the work was done appropriately and focused only on discerning the truth of very serious allegations. There was no corruption. There was no treason. There was no attempted coup. Those are lies, and dumb lies at that. There were just good people trying to figure out what was true,
Is Biden the New Hillary? replies

President Trump isn’t subtle about his strategy to defeat Joe Biden if the former vice president becomes the Democratic nominee. Trump plans to wage the same sort of campaign against Biden that he did against Hillary Clinton in 2016. Back then, Trump defined Hillary as the candidate of entrenched interests who used a long career in politics for familial gain. He highlighted Clinton’s support for the 1994 crime bill and for NAFTA and TPP, driving wedges between the former secretary of state and important Democratic constituencies. And he went after Hillary’s foreign-policy credentials, painting her as an interventionist who had weakened America’s standing in the world. It’s Biden’s turn.

Jim Acosta is the worst “reporter” in the history of network news. I say that not as a conservative, but as someone who believes in “news.”The title of Jim’s upcoming book says it all: Enemy of the People: A Dangerous Time to Tell the Truth in America. That reveals he has no understanding of what a reporter is. Dear Jim, A reporter is someone who, to the exclusion of all other statements, solely communicates objective facts with which the entire potential audience can agree. If you’re saying things that people are fighting over, you’re not “reporting.” You’re proselytizing. That makes you a pundit, not a reporter.

The half-mile private border wall that sprung up over Memorial Day weekend was hit with a cease and desist order Tuesday for being built in violation of a Sunland Park, New Mexico, city ordinance. The wall, built near El Paso, Texas, by a nonprofit organization funded by triple-amputee Airforce veteran Brian Kolfage’s viral $20 million GoFundMe fundraising campaign, didn’t obtain a building permit prior to breaking ground, Sunland Park city officials told KTSM. “We have issued a cease and desist to the owner of the property,” Sunland Park Democratic Mayor Javier Perea said at a press conference Tuesday. “At this point, it will be turned over

The Deep State has chosen their 2020 candidate for US president. Former CIA Chief John Brennan defended 2020 Dem front-runner Joe Biden and lashed out at President Trump on Tuesday evening.Trump trolled “Sleepy Joe Biden” earlier Tuesday.“I was actually sticking up for Sleepy Joe Biden while on foreign soil. Kim Jong Un called him a “low IQ idiot,” and many other things, whereas I related the quote of Chairman Kim as a much softer “low IQ individual.” Who could possibly be upset with that?” Trump said. The skies are growing dark and increasingly ominous for dirty officials at the top of Obama-era law enforcement and intelligence agencies. Leading the “I’m really worried” list are James Comey, John Brennan, James Clapper, Loretta Lynch, and their senior aides, all political appointees. They expected Hillary Clinton to win in 2016 and bury any traces of malfeasance, just as they had buried hers. It didn’t work out that way. Now they need protection themselves. House Democrats and anonymous leakers are busy providing it. Many are delicately called “current and former senior officials” by the New York Times, Washington Post, and other legacy media. Gee, I wonder who they are?
Clarence Thomas Speaks the Truth for
SCOTUS on Abortion

In today's concurring opinion in Box v. Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky, Justice Clarence Thomas dared speak the truth about the abortion industry in an area of law and policy infested with euphemisms, deception, and distortion. That "the Constitution itself is silent on abortion," for example, is a most obvious observation that anyone old enough to read can confirm. But to write it plainly in a Supreme Court opinion, as he did, is nothing short of an act of courage in today's day and age, when the darkness of abortion has such a firm grip on our political, legal, and cultural environments.

Remember folk expressions about the wisdom of being careful? “Look before you leap.” “Measure twice, cut once.” “Don’t go off half-cocked.” All of this should go double for online culture. Instead lives are being destroyed over misleading, unfair or just plain false accusations. People are being turned into public enemies or even fired after being framed for racism, homophobia or other perceived social crimes. Others are casting themselves as victims of hate in order to line their pockets. These days anyone with a phone in his hand can be P.T. Barnum. And people who congratulate themselves for being unusually tolerant, kind-hearted and impervious

It is tempting for normal people to ignore our president when he starts ranting about treason and corruption at the FBI. I understand the temptation. I’m the object of many of his rants, and even I try to ignore him. But we shouldn’t, because millions of good people believe what a president of the United States says. In normal times, that’s healthy. But not now, when the president is a liar who doesn’t care what damage he does to vital institutions. We must call out his lies that the FBI was corrupt and committed treason, that we spied on the Trump campaign and tried to defeat Donald Trump.

Supreme Court Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Clarence Thomas had two very different opinions when it came to a ruling on Tuesday that effectively upheld an Indiana law on disposal of fetal remains. The court’s ruling allowed Indiana to enforce a requirement that abortion clinics either bury or cremate fetal remains following an abortion. The justices said in an unsigned opinion that the case does not involve limits on abortion rights. Ginsburg was one of two liberal-leaning justices who dissented. Attorney General William Barr is trying to figure out how the Trump-Russia collusion investigation got started. He may find a more complicated story than he suspects. It may well be that ill-willed FBI and CIA agents working against Trump evolved from a much narrower scheme that targeted Michael Flynn long before Donald Trump brought Flynn on to his team, first as a campaign adviser, and then as head of the national security council.

CUCUTA, Colombia (Reuters) - Wearing camouflage shirts and combat boots, a Venezuelan militia group stands in formation in the Colombian city of Cucuta as their commander, a former Venezuelan army sergeant, outlines plans to seize towns across the border before heading to Caracas to help oust President Nicolas Maduro. Eight men, who said they were defectors from Venezuelan police, army and intelligence services, had gathered near the two nations’ tense frontier, from where they said they will lead an attack aimed at overthrowing Maduro and handing the reins of power to opposition leader Juan Guaido.
