A private group announced Monday that it has constructed a half-mile wall along a section of the U.S.-Mexico border in New Mexico, in what it said was a first in the border debate. The 18-foot steel bollard wall is similar to the designs used by the Border Patrol, sealing off a part of the border that had been a striking gap in existing fencing, according to We Build the Wall, the group behind the new section. (Snip) The new wall in New Mexico is up along the border and designed just like the Border Patrol’s structures,

Excellent!!!! Making Congress look even more ridiculous...
FTA:
Mr. Kobach says agents have told him perhaps 100 migrants a night cross — but the bigger problem is that they would cross, gaining agents’ attention, then drug smugglers would use the distraction to run drugs through elsewhere in the gap.
A typical night could exceed $100,000 worth of drugs through the gap, Mr. Kobach said.
Construction began Friday and will be completed Tuesday. Tommy Fisher’s Fisher Sand & Gravel did the construction.
Mr. Fisher has been in the news recently with Mr. Trump suggesting repeatedly and publicly that the government should consider his outfit for future border wall construction.

Some comments after the article question Mr. Kobach's credibility, stating that he's known in Kansas as a scam operator. Can anyone here clear that up?

The opposition has been trying to dirty up Kobach for some time now. This report came from the group that built the wall.

Against illegal immigration hardliner Kobach: John Kelly
Pro Kobach:
Those sorts of immigration policies have won Kobach the support of prominent immigration hawks both within the administration and advising it from the outside. His internal allies include Stephen Miller, the top White House policy adviser who is seen to be consolidating power internally in an effort to ramp up U.S. immigration enforcement. Steve Bannon, the former White House strategist and another We Build The Wall board member, also backs Kobach for the job.

When those I have never trusted - including former CoS and Nielsen supporter, John Kelly - are against, I am inclined to go counter to their pushing.
Right now a major block is his request for a private jet if he takes this job.
I will stay tuned.
Comments on threads below articles about anyone ostensibly on the President’s and our side do not give me the tiniest wobble. They are big on posting negative “facts” as “truth” with no support. Propaganda mills.

Take note that the fence is similar to what the government is building, but the private enterprise is doing so faster and doing it for less.

Mount Cristo Rey is right where the New Mexico line meets the Texas border, at the West side of El Paso. It's long been rumored around here as a hotbed of gang activity crossing the border. Apparently it is private land and they could build the wall. Just about everything West of there all the way to Columbus is BLM, and still waiting on a wall.

Kris is a great guy. Glad to see that this is getting done, and for 1/6th the price of the government version. And using Core Ten type steel, apparently, which is far more durable in the unpainted condition outside.
Build the Wall.
I maybe sending them a significant donation. Will watch another month or two. This looks great.

Kris is NOT 'known as a scam operator'. That is total lie. I have known him for 25 years personally,
and he is a great man, honest, great family. Serious hunter, as are his daughters.
Totally honest guy, but truly hated by the left because he is super smart and dedicated to the
whole immigration issue. I am in KS.

I sent money many months ago. I was starting to worry that I was scammed. I am so glad this is being done by a great ND company located only about 60 miles from me! Wonderful news!!

IF Kobach is wanting a jet, and I know that he is often smeared with totally untrue things, so this may have no basis at all in fact, it may be that he wants to be home with his family on weekends. They live in a new home that they have built out in the country in a small town in east KS. He is a very big family man and I would imagine that he would be not interested in moving them to DC, and might want to be able to get back often enough to still participate in his kids' lives and see his wife frequently.

Not your typical "bureaucrat". He is a real guy, and he would be fantastic in any
post he can get in the Trump administration. OTOH, maybe he is doing more
good here, showing up the Corp of Engineers for the incompetent, bureaucratic,
inefficient bozos that they apparently are.
